Zach Laskey for Georgia Tech was a beast today. 16 carries for 133 yards and 2 touchdowns, 1 catch for 24 yards. He now has over 200 yards and 5 touchdowns in his last 2 games!
In UCF's blowout win, both Blake Bortles and JJ Worton had big efforts. Bortles was a near perfect 20 for 24, 286 yards and 4 TDs. Worton lead all receivers with 116 yards and a long run after the short screen touchdown. He also had a nice punt return during the time I was watching some of this game. A really explosive player.
I was also happy to see the much Whiter Minnesota beat the all too black Nebraska. The Cornhuskers need to Whiten up again next year or face becoming a mediocre program.
Iowa winning over the quotabacked Northwestern was also a "caste win". However, Weisman received less carries than the negro runner, yet still managed more yards. What gives? Did Weisman get hurt?
I have to agree with you on Nebraska. I don't know what happened to them. It looks like they've been mining the South for more of that "affletic talent." All I heard Nebraska fans talk about during the offseason is how happy they were to get rid of those "slow guys" like Will Compton, Sean Fisher, Baker Steinkuhler and Cam Meredith, the four white defenders from last year. They were so happy that they had some real athletes coming in to play. More often than not, Josh Banderas and Nathan Gerry have been on the bench. Gerry at least plays some. Banderas messed up on one play against South Dakota St. and was bench in favor of one of those endless upside type of LBs. Only, Banderas' replacement, Santos, has screwed up more often than not, yet Pelini has said he's been playing great and needs to be in. Same thing happened with Gerry; he missed one tackle on SDSU's Zach Zenner, and as an LB, couldn't keep up with SDSU's fastest WR in man coverage, so he got benched as well in favor of an "high upside" athlete, who's proceeded to blow coverage after coverage, and make the wrong reads like Santos, but Pelini won't bench him. The D-Line is even worse than it was last year. Ankrah and Randle are completely useless. Some of the Cornhuskers fans wanted this affletic, upside laden all black defense, now they can reap the rewards: they absolutely suck and are the Achilles heal of the team. Look for the team to get worse; I'm sure Pelini will find ways to ruin the careers of his few scholarship white defenders left. I believe right now, the only scholarship players that have been offered out of HS on the defense are: Nathan Gerry, Josh Banderas, Drake Martinez, and AJ Natter. All are freshman. That's it. The Huskers do give out scholarships to white walk-ons, however, so these four aren't the only white defenders on scholarship, just the only ones offered out of HS.
