thus far, the 2011 NCAA Tourney has been a terrific showing for White athletes. virtually every White player that has seen the floor for a significant amount of action has been the best (or a pivotal) player for his respective team.
i'm currently watching the Florida-UCLA game, which saw each team start a single White player: Chandler Parsons for Florida, Reeves Nelson for UCLA. "strangely," the White playeris the best player for each team ... it leaves me to wonder, why does each team have so few of these talents and so many of those other types?
also, it never ceases to amaze me the castespeak that the kosher-approved announcers can come up with in order to avoid giving White players credit for actually having talent. take Reeves Nelson, for example. his impressive ability to routinely beat his man off the dribble and attack the rim for vicious dunks was attributed to his "fearlessness" and "toughness." while those are certainly admirable attributes, how does a lack of fear provide the explosiveness, skill, and leaping ability to accomplish such feats?
the answer, of course, is that talent is what allows Nelson to do what he does. but the announcers won't give credence to that. also, of course.
