Weddle going to the Texans was a real possibility, considering the team had/has a serious void at safety and, more importantly, Wade Phillips, who is NOT a total caste clown, had briefly coached and liked Eric when he began his career with the Chargers.
That said, I believe the Texans might be getting close to the line the Packers were forced to "toe" in 2010 -- you know, being about 50% white and having to be very careful who they add. I don't think Houston can go much further (adding key whites), even though their GM is Rick Smith and he's African American. My guess is even if the Texans win the Super Bowl this year, you will not see an increase in white players and starters next season. Hopefully, they won't be forced to cut/get rid of a whole bunch of white backups, like Ted Thompson was forced (or compelled) to do in Green Bay.
