Texans waived Anderson, but on the plus side, their starting OLBs are Barwin and Brooks Reed and the two backups are also white! Jesse Nading got promoted from the PS and Bryan Braman (UDFA out of Texas A&M) was already serving as a 4th outside 'backer.

Maybe someone should forward this article to Bill Belichick and the rest of the NFL's coaches, assistants, etc. An infusion of White talent is in no small part responsible for Houston finally having a good defense. The other semi-White defense in the league, that of St. Louis, is also coming on very strong. With a decent offense the Rams would also have one of the top defenses.

I'm not high on some drug that makes you say the exact opposite of what is true. The Houston Texans (lest you be confused by which Texans team I was referencing) are in first place in the NFL in total yards per game.
I feel comfortable admitting that I was completely, totally, absolutely, undeniably 100 percent wrong about the Texans' decision to switch to a 3-4 defense.
People thought Shaun Cody was too small. People thought Mario Williams was too big. People thought Connor Barwin was too inexperienced, that Brooks Reed was too young and JJ Watt was unnecessary. People thought Glover Quinn was a bad player, that Brian Cushing was only good because he was on steroids and that Wade Phillips was more hype than substance.
People were wrong.
There are plenty of people that deserve credit on this defense, but no one deserves more credit than Wade Phillips.
Houston's new defensive coordinator came in during a lockout shortened offseason to revamp one of the worst defenses in the NFL. The Texans were giving up 376 yards per game and 26.7 points per game. Those are stats that make it next to impossible to win in the NFL.
However, with almost no time to install his defense, Phillips managed to take six players that had never played in a 3-4 system and get them ready to be the best defense in the NFL before their bye week.
Among the players on the field, Brian Cushing is playing like a defensive MVP candidate. He is averaging just under nine tackles per game, with two interceptions and two sacks. However, the numbers themselves are not what are most amazing about Cushing's performances. He has become the heart and soul of this defense.
DeMeco Ryans has typically made all calls during games, but Cushing has taken that over this year. Cushing has become a complete player that stays on the field for the team during nickle and dime packages.
He also plays with a fire and determination that is truly inspiring. He has had two games in which he was forced to come out (briefly) because his face was gushing blood. Those indelible images stay with his teammates and inspire them to keep on fighting.
Any talk of the difference between this defense and the one the Texans had last year must also mention Johnathan Joseph. The former Bengal has been the kind of lock-down corner that this team has never had.
What's more, he is not a finesse player like Deion Sanders. Opponents can't run at him because he is a good tackler and physical against backs. Joseph has clearly made a case for being considered in the elite of the elite cornerback conversation.

Reed has essentially matched Williams' production. In four starts, Reed has four sacks and 19 tackles. Williams, who will be a free agent at season's end, started five games, finishing with five sacks and 11 tackles.
Popular opinion is the Texans will re-sign Williams. But has Reed's emergence, currently at a fraction of the cost, caused the Texans to think otherwise? Especially when Williams' price tag likely will approach or exceed $50 million?

I have to believe, even for the ultra-reactionary Caste NFL, that developments like this are going to cause an ongoing uptick in White defensive players. We're already seeing more White linebackers and safeties in the last couple of seasons than we've seen for quite a while. Look how good Reed, J. J. Watt and Ryan Kerrigan have been right off the bat this season, which has become the norm for White defensive players in recent years. Last year it was Pat Angerer, and also this year Sean Lee in his first opportunity to start, and Brian Robison after serving a ridiculous four year racial apprenticeship. Add in Cushing, Matthews and Laurinaitis from two years ago and combine that with the colossal number of highly drafted black busts and underachievers each year, and a few more teams than just Houston and St. Louis are bound to start giving more opportunities to the "non-stop motor" guys.

backrow and Don, I hope the momentum keeps swinging in favor of the White defender. There is reason for a lot of optimism. I still can't help but wonder how all these White players with "high motors" can get up high enough to grab the motors and use them, seeing as how "White men can't jump." This is truly a baffling situation.

Actually there's one more white on offense starting, Chris Myers, the center, so seven on offense when Casey is being used.
I wanted Weddell to go there so bad. Can you imagine how beautiful that would be?

Weddle going to the Texans was a real possibility, considering the team had/has a serious void at safety and, more importantly, Wade Phillips, who is NOT a total caste clown, had briefly coached and liked Eric when he began his career with the Chargers.
That said, I believe the Texans might be getting close to the line the Packers were forced to "toe" in 2010 -- you know, being about 50% white and having to be very careful who they add. I don't think Houston can go much further (adding key whites), even though their GM is Rick Smith and he's African American. My guess is even if the Texans win the Super Bowl this year, you will not see an increase in white players and starters next season. Hopefully, they won't be forced to cut/get rid of a whole bunch of white backups, like Ted Thompson was forced (or compelled) to do in Green Bay.

Bad news for the Texans, as Schaub is out for at least next week and maybe longer with a foot injury. Hopefully Leinart can step up and lead this team. Over the last few weeks its been the running game and defense that have been pivotal, so hopefully its not too big of a blow. Also, Andre Johnson will be back soon and I actually think his presence will help Daniels and Walter, unless Walter gets benched due to the "athletic" Jacoby Jones.

I've been thinking about the Texans recently. They look very similar to the Wisconsin Badgers when they have a white QB, majority white offense but only a number two white WR, no white tail back, but white majority O-line, FB, and tight end. On defense, close to majority white, but no whites in the secondary.

While I am saddened for Schaub because they will finally make the playoffs and he won't be a part of it, I am happy for Matt Leinart. Leinart has never really gotten a fair chance to show his stuff and now it's his team to lead. He's got 2 top running backs, good receivers and great tight ends. All he has to do is play within himself and limit turnovers. Power running and good defense will win. I am going to be optimistic and say the Texans will be fine with Leinart. All hope is not lost.

I am hoping Leinart becomes a good second half of the season story and redeems himself much like Alex Smith has done in San Francisco.
I think Matt will be just fine. People keep thinking that this success of the Texans D is some sort of fluke; remember guys our greatest strength is our constancy. Now will they lose a couple more games then they would have with Schaub, yea most likely. But they are a lock for the playoffs; and in the playoffs great D is what they will need to make it through the murky AFC. They are going to the SuperBowl; I put 200 on them at the beginning of the year to win it all and that was before the news about Manning came out. So ya I have a horse in this race.

As of this week (12) the Texans have 7 white offensive starters, 5 on defense and 25 on their active 53 man roster. I believe that this is the best in the league! Let's hope that Matt Leinhart can find some magic and get them deep in the playoffs!
