It's not Andre Sampson, but Andrew Sampson!

Aaron Plugrad will start this year at WR for ASU.

Trevor Kohl will start at TE for the Sun Devils too.

Total, I got eight white Sun Devils starting again.

Also, watch out for Shane McCullen, a backup safety, who should get some time.

Leonardfan's post below mine is correct, Threet doesn't play anymore either.Edited by: Jack Lambert

Pretty sure Threet was forced to retire due to concussions. Promising QB Brock Osweiler will take his place.

Remember when this kid was coming out. He was one hell of a runningback in HS!! Oh well he's got good size and speed to play Free Safety..

Former Oregon Duck Aaron Pflugrad is having a nice senior season so far with 11 receptions for 230 yards (20.9 avg). He's tied with two other players for 2nd in the nation with 4 TD catches. I hadn't even thought about Pflugrad until actually looing to see how T.J. Moe did.

The Kalispell Kid looks pretty darn good at QB and WR Pflugrad looks good too. However, we'll see if the Sun Devils are able to establish some consistency this year.

I'd like to see Arizona State be a majority White team again. Maybe this will be a step in the right direction for them.

Adios to Erickson. The emergence of Osweiler as a top 10 QB in the nation is a positive.

The trend among big money boosters (the ones who actually pick the next coach) seems to be to hire a coach who's going to "spread the field". They don't even know what they mean by that. They just know that Rich Rod is their type of guy. That's why Arizona ended up with him. ASU might try to steal Art Briles or Kevin Sumlin.
If I was the one making the decisions there, I'd put up the money for the buyout and hire June Jones away from SMU.

Didn't happen. Sundevils faded with stupid play and stupid players. Got so bad I couldn't even watch 'em.

I've been told they are playing in a bowl game with Boise State. BSU should roll right over them.

Glad to see Erickson out.

Hopefully, ASU will make their team more representative of the student body and Arizona in general.

June Jones headed to Arizona State

Since they're taking advice from me on hiring decisions, I'd also like to recommend that ASU hire a new equipment director. Somebody needs to get rid of those awful uniforms.

Also, unless SMU promotes a Jones assistant for next year, I can't see how this would be good news for Zach Line. A new coach is going to want to use "his system" and "his players". And since all evidence shows that college football coaches reject the possibility that a white man can be a runningback, Line may be screwed out of his position for his senior year.

I think Zach is too entrenched at SMU for a demotion no matter what the new coach may want to do. Who knows, if they install a power running game maybe Zach can be even more productive.

However, if I were Prescott Line I would rethink SMU and see if following Jones to ASU is an option.

Yeah its going to be kind of hard to bench someone who has close to 3,000 yards rushing and 34 tds. Maybe if he just had the one great season, but he has had two. And yes he would be much more productive in a power running game, some of his best runs have come where he has lined up a little further back than normal shotgun, closer to pistol with traditional running plays.

So who would be the best and worst hires for Zach?

Obviously the safest hire would be Dan Morrison, the Assistant Head Coach and OC for Jones. He would be familiar with both Zach and the offense already in place.

I'm not sold on the "power running" idea. Zach's performance numbers have been huge in the RnS. While a I-Formation guy might earn Zach a little more respect, I can't see him matching his numbers in that set. Are there any other current head coaches in FBS with a Run and Shoot background?

Worst Hire: Ken Niumatalolo. Without a doubt. Nobody respects the ball carriers in the flexbone triple-option. The wide receivers might draw interest, but if you line up in the backfield in those sets, scouts have no interest in you.

Why wouldn't he put up big numbers in a power offense? he has tons of agility but most of it used close to the line of scrimmage since they go 4 wide and the receivers rarely hold the blocks long enough, he has to make tons of people miss. Not to mention half the time he gets the ball at an angle so he doesn't have much momentum going. Put him in an i formation he is going down hill, can use his agility more in the open field, plus there would be more carries. The offense could be featured around him, he could have a similar season to Matt Forte. I mean I wouldn't mind them keeping the system, but with more pistol, same principles as the I but you can keep 4 wide and more variety in the playcalling in the run game. Half of his carries are draws, they mostly use more of a pistol look in the redzone. The playcalling for the run game has been predictable based on where Line is lining up.

I don't think anybody else runs the run and shoot besides SMU and Hawaii. The best thing to do would be to promote someone from within, which there is talks of on the message boards (not sure of the name), but people say he isn't qualified having only been a positions coach, but there have been several coaches that have been hired as head coaches with only experience as a position coach. I would hate to see a zone read type coach come in and use Line as the dive back.

Strange things are afoot. I've never seen anything like this before. If Jones stays at Southern Methodist, Zach Line will definitely benefit.

A 2,000 yard season isn't out of the question. If McDermott hadn't been "learning on the job" after Padron was yanked at the beginning of the season, Zach likely would've gotten 100 more yards over the first three games. He would've been a lock for 100 yards performances in their last two games. That would have put him over 1,500 this season. A bowl game likely would've given him around 1,600. Well, next year CUSA is going to be full of new coaches and new players. Keenum is gone, Kinne is gone, Austin Davis is gone. Lots of coaches gone. As long as ASU doesn't re-hire June Jones now, Zach might very likely lead the nation in rushing next year.

I know this is the Arizona State thread, but until they make some kind of move, there's nothing on that front to discuss.
