Louisiana Tech's JR WR R.P. Stuart will hopefully improve on his Sophomore season when he caught 17 passes for 249 yards 1 TD in only 9 games. The Austin, TX native was a two star recruit by Rivals and has played some plays as a running WR scoring 2 TDs in 08 from the rush.
UL Lafayette's WR Richie Falgout had 18 catches for 221 yards last year. He played in all 12 games, starting first career game at wide receiver at ULM He ranked 5th in receptions and 3rd in receiving yards. Season-long 82-yard reception vs. FIU before getting pushed out of bounds at the one-yard line. His 82 yards were a team game high. Made a season-high four receptions at FAU. Completed passes of 27 yards at Kansas State and 18 yards vs. Arkansas State, both for touchdowns

the lone White wideoutfor Arkansas is Neal Barlow, who redshirted last year with a leg injury.at 6-6 and possessing high-4.5 speed, Barlow is a nightmare on the outside, but so far he's not expected to even be in the receiver rotation.
what's messed up, though,is that Barlow wasn't even the best wide receiver on his high school team ... Carson McKnight was faster and more productive (albeit "only" about6-feet tall)than any of the wideouts the Hogs signed, but hehad that damn skin condition that destroys athleticism.

as for Arkansas State, they have a looooooong history of jerking around the few White athletes they sign at the caste positions. just take a look at what happened to tailbackDerek Lawson last season.
Taylor Stockemer is a very good athlete, and i wish him the best, but he does have a big hill to climb. the one thing in his favor (aside from his talent, of course) is that he's a relatively high-profile signee. but the Red Wolves are no fan of gifted White athletes, as the coaching staff refused to give walk-onT.J. Burk a chance at cracking the rotation, despite his being the fastest wide receiver (and third-fastest player) and having the best hands on the team at 6-2. he was relegated to strictly WSTD status except in garbage time. Burk stuck it out for 3 years, but finally said he'd had enough of being jerked aroundthis off-season.

this fallthe Cowboys are expecting David Leonard to be their go-to guy in the passing game. after being used as more of a possession receiver last season, if all goes according to plan the 6-4 Leonard should emerge as one of the most productive wideouts in the MWC this fall.
he's also a top-notch punt returner.

If i remember correctly,Leonard had a key a touchdown catch in that bowl game against Fresno State. He will be fun to watch this year.

Air Force doesn't throw the ball very much, but they have a talented duo at wideout when they do.
at 6-5, Kevin Fogler is a big target with a knack for making big plays. Fogler led the Falcons in receiving last year, and heis expected todo so again. it is perhaps fitting that the skywalker plays for the Air Force.

I totally forgot about Leonard. He sure does have some talent. Good find Jimmy C.
One small correction. Max Komar played for Idaho. He put up great numbers at his pro day but to the best of my knowledge has not received a sniff from the NFL.

after not seeing the field for three years at Iowa State, Jake Williams emerged as a legitimate threat for the Cyclones as a redshirt junior, finishing second on the team in receptions andsnagging a team-high5touchdown catches.

Vanderbilt's John Cole was the team's top wide receiver as a redshirt freshman last season ... despite playing the final 7 games with a surgically repaired hand.
he broke the hand playing against Rice.
blessed with 4.4 speed and incredible hands (well, he has at least one incredible hand, for sure!

Hopefully some of these receivers can have breakout years and end up on NFL radars. I'd like to see Devon Wylie get drafted. If given an opportunity he could easily be one of the best kickoff or punt returners in the league.

Southern Utah's Tysson Poots finished the 2009 season ranked second in the FCS in receptions per game, yards per game and points per game last year ... which is even more impressive when you consider that he was sidelined for nearly 5 weeks due to a stress fracture in his right foot.
at 6-3, 205-pounds and blessed with good leaping ability, Poots is known as a playmaker in the air. he also has above-average speed, running a 4.52.
he is rated as the top returning wideout in the FCS.

Appalachian State has become possibly the highest-profile FCS school in recent years due to their knack for the big upset and their almost routine appearances in the National Championship game. a nearly all-black team, it might surprise most fans that their best players always include one of their lonely White athletes. this year should be no different.
senior Matt Cline is possibly the fastest player on the Mountaineers, and he is their top wideout. often overshadowed in the media by taller (and appropriately hued) teammate Brian Quick, Cline is a versatile weapon who is a threat catching the ball, running it, or in the kicking game.

all hail Villanova's Matt Szczur! he is well known to most CFers because ofis incredibly explosive, all-around talent with the ball in his hands (he will often play wide receiver, running back, quarterback and kick returner in the same game). the only question is: will he return to the gridiron this fall? Szczur was drafted in the 5th Round of the MLB Draft a few days ago.

Soy, who will be a junior,wasnamed the best NCAA Division II receiver in the country last seasonafter a record-setting year that included 27 touchdown receptions, third most in D-II history. a first-team all-America selection after catching 92 passes for 1,559 yards, the most in the nation, Soyhad nine 100-yard receiving games and caught four touchdowns in one game and three in another. perhaps even more impressively, he played big in big games. he had 9 catches for 118 yards and a touchdown in theChampionship game.

Ashland's Joe Horn is a multiple-time All-American sprinter on the track (200 meters, 400, 4x100, and 4x400) as well as being a playmaker on the football field. the school record holder in the 400 also has speed while wearing pads, unlike so many track guys. he caught 69 balls for 1,095 yards and 9 touchdowns last fall, en route to leading Ashland to its first-ever postseason win.
at 5-11, 182-pounds he has adequate size to go with his blazing speed.

Nebraska-Kearney's Kyle Kaiser doesn't run track (unfortunately), but his speed is well known. rumored to run a 4.3 40, Kaiser had 12 touchdown catches and 1,013 receiving yards on just 46 catches last fall. for you math-o-phobes, that's a whopping 22.1 yards-per-catch average.
he's a slender 6-0, weighing just 170. but he has game-breaking ability.
