Fairly nondescript first round today. The leaders are at -2, with everyone bunched up behind them. Mickelson shot +4, Woods +3, neither had a birdie.

I'm rooting for Phil, who has five, count 'em five, runner-up finishes but no wins in this event; he should have won in '06 but blew it big time on the last hole, which derailed his career for a couple of years afterward. After him I'd like to see Sergio Garcia break through for his first major, or Ernie Els win his fourth major.

After the guys that Don mentioned, I would like to see Furyk, Tom Watson, and Erik Compton, who qualified for his 1st major at 30, and after two heart transplants.

Let's hope there's no meltdown this time. I haven't seen Easy Els play this good in ages, and it be great if either win this one.

Although i am english, i am rooting for mickleson for this Us OPEN. This will knock woods off number one and dent woods already decreasing confidence invincible.

Well, the messiah has his "magic" back.

He made his move, and is now only 4 off the lead, with only McDowll and Dustin Johnson ahead of him.

Mickelson and Els are playing horrible today. Its up to McDowell and Johnson to stop him right now. All of this to the delight of airheads Johnny Miller and co.

The last thing we need is a return of Woods' "intimidating aura," so we need Phil, Ernie, the Frenchmen Havret, Johnson or McDowell to come through tomorrow, as it's obvious that the DWFs and the Tiger-centric media arein full salivation modefor a Woods win. This is all so disappointing. It really looked like Woods had been severely affected by all his serial adultery, and the resulting scandal. When he fell to +6 after two holes yesterday, I thought he was finished. How he went from that rock bottom point to shooting a 66 is beyond me. More of his seemingly supernatural "magic."

Woods continues to get phenomenal lies and bounces, no matter how far astray his shots are. It is simply unbelievable that anyone can continue to have this kind of luck, year in and year out. He is also clearly benefiting from the DWFs, who have done nothing but cheer and shout words of encouragement to him since he "came back" from his offseason woes. If even a small percentage treated him like DWFs treat all white sports figures, there is no question that his golf game would suffer (just remember the idiot DWFs who used to make choking gestures towards Greg Norman, who was obviously negatively impacted by that).

I have very little confidence that Woods won't win today. So far, no white player has stood up to a challenge from the "magic" one in the last round of a major. Woods has beaten himself numerous times, but only T.C. Chen (an Asian), in last year's PGA, went head to head with Woods and beat him. I just don't have confidence in Mickelson, Els, and the little known players at the top of the leader board to be able to withstand a charge (and at this point, it won't have to be much of a charge) from the "magic" one. I really hope I'm wrong, and that someone-anyone besides Woods- wins.

The members of the Pebble Beach crowd were far too "star struck"Â￾ yesterday to do anything accept cheerlead for this ultra-narcissistic, wolf-in-sheep's-clothing pervert. The Prodigal Son was inducing pure ecstasy, as he once did, in the days when every white man could feel properly slighted, and could experience utter racial inferiority.

Now they shout their overpowering approvals from the galleries (where dozens of young white children mimic the "adults"Â￾) for the biggest Corporate-Funded charlatan of a generation.

The media has finally "forgiven Tiger,"Â￾ which is only explanation for the fans suddenly cheering for the AntiChrist once again. Monkey see, monkey do.

Well, Johnson collapsed pretty bad today, but Tiger collapsed a little himself. Els is really playing well right now, hopefully Phil can make a charge.

Also, Frenchman Gregory Havret is doing great against Woods head to head today. Finally, a white guy that plays great with Tiger.

Congrats to McDowell. Too bad Mickelson and Els couldn't make a charge, but the best news of the day was that Woods stumbled and was beaten head to head by Havret, the 390th ranked player in the world coming into the Open.

It should be mentioned that McDowell is the first European to win the U.S. Open since Tony Jacklin in 1970, an amazing and inexplicably long drought. With the rise of international golf, I wonder when or if there will be a call for anotherof the majors to be held outside the U.S. Three out of four in one country has become archaic and unfair.
