Either they think Peterson is fading or needs an Alstott type to compliment him or if your a grassy knoll type they have taken him to bury him.....

He should just play baseball this is getting insane. There is no way this wasn't deliberately planned. In all honesty, Gerhart is better than Peterson though. If I recall correctly, he scored those 27 tds without one fumble.

Adrian Peterson was injury prone in college and really regressed last season, so it's not the worst landing spot, especially if he inherits the Chester Taylor role as a rookie. But he's not gonna be The Man as long as Peterson is healthy.

With Peterson getting hurt a few games, maybe they figured Toby can come in and be a starter when that happens.

Then again, Gerhart is good enough that he just may clearly outplay Peterson and become the featured back over time. Gotta have hope, Toby's always overcome the perceived expectations of him.

He will have plenty of carries in Minnesota, and I don't think that they traded up to pick a fullback.P.S. nice to see Steve Young make a the point that he wont be a fullback but a running back.

Another sad thing about this pick by the Vikings is that Childress seems to think Tavaris Jackson is a good QB. I hope the Vikings select McCoy, Pike or Lefevour when they pick next.

The Vikings already have a FB in Naufahu Tahi, who resigned recently.

The Patriots follow up a great pick with an SEC afflete.

He might as well be, Peterson is the team's designated RB. Plus, he's just 2 years older. Tough luck for Gerhart.

Peterson has an injury history, and Gerhart will mostly likely fill the Chester Taylor role to start off. When Peterson gets hurt, Gerhart will get his starts now and then.

Sean Lee to Dallas...disappointing considering the treatment Bobby Carpenter received.

The Cowboys just picked up Sean Lean, the LB from Penn State. Maybe he'll be able to take over for the mediocre Bradie James, or at the least, Keith Brooking eventually.

Hopefully Lee will replace Keith Brooking, who replaced Zach Thomas.

The Packers take yet another afflete DT/DE. How many have been selected so far in the draft? At least 12...

Very interesting that the Vikings would trade up with Houston to pick Toby. Looking at the Viqueens roster, besides "AD" (Hah!) they don't have anyone else on the roster at RB worth squat. And considering Perterson's tendency to fumble, it might be a better fit than we think. Let see what happens in camp and preseason, and hope that Favre decides to do it for another year.

Sean Lee drafted by the Cowpokes. Let's hope that he's given a chance to shine, and not given the Bobby Carpenter treatment. I would bet money that at the end of the season, the two best rookie linebackers will be Sean Lee and Pat Angerer. And Pat hasn't even been picked yet! Just like this year when the best rookie LB's were white.

FootballDad,

Yes exactly, I thought they might be a bit tired of Peterson dropping the ball at the worst time. Very interesting pick.

I think Gerhart will do great with the Vikings. They have an established FB, and as we've said before, Peterson will be getting injured throughout the year. So when Gerhart comes in, the Vikes won't skip a beat.

Also, the Vikes have Farve, Greenway, and Allen to cheer for as well.
