Its obvious that most of the crowd is hoping Phil wins this thing. It great to see and listen to. Phil just pulled ahead by one over KJ Choi. Hell, I suspect most in the crowd would want Choi or Kim to win rather than Eldrick.

Its one thing to politely clap for great shots at this level, but entirely dysfunctional to "hope and pray" Eldrick wins this as if he recently recovered by testicular cancer. Listening to the DWFs call out "Tiger" when he makes or misses a shot is nausiating.

But the "other" asians are hot on Phil's tail. Hopefully Phil maintains his play. Go Phil.

I just turned to The Tiger Network (Golf Channel) and the first thing I heard was a "journalist" saying, "Phil will be the first one to tell you that Tiger is still the best in the world." But I refuse to let the Tiger-centric media ruin this wonderful day. The only downside for me is that the next Masters is a year away.

Absolutely! Phil certainly likes to make things interesting at times, doesn't he? My emotions went up and down like a yo yo. Woods exhibited his traditional smut mouth and infantile temper...it was impossible, for instance, to miss the drives in which he was heard screaming: "Tiger Woods, you suck!"Â￾ and "No, Tiger, Jesus Christ!"Â￾ Tiger's final interview came of as smug and self-centered (go figure)"¦he didn't even congratulate or acknowledge the "lowly"Â￾ non-celebrity golfers who kicked his wimpy ass throughout the entire tournament. I watched all of Saturday and Sunday, and to be honest, this tournament was more exciting than the superbowl. As Don noted, this is a beautiful day"¦one that should give us all hope for the future of athletics, and their critical responsibility as a microcosm of our society.

Great post. I noticed too how self-centered Woods was in his brief interview. He's incapable of genuine humility or of empathy for the fans who have been so good to him. But he's been given a complete and total reprieve by the media and DWFs. This tiger is only going to change his stripes in the most superficial of ways.

But man, the Winter Olympics, the NCAA Tournament, The Masters, we've had a lot to cheer about so far already in 2010. The NFL Draft will be a bummer, but I have a feeling that even in football we'll see a few more White players than usual shine this year when their teams are "forced" to turn to them. It sure has been a good start to 2010 for white athletes. I'm happy "cheetah" lost. He's about as arrogant a person as there is. A few things I hope to see in 2010 are: a white sprinter finally break the 10 second barrier in the 100m, Decker, Shipley, and all the other white receivers have good seasons, and finally Wladimir Klitschko or Vitali knocking David Haye's head off in the ring.

First off congrats to Phil. What a performance. He has been a top 5 golfer in the world for a while now in my opinion. He just needs to be a little more consistant. Four majors is a fantastic acheivement. He should be applauded. Great job Phil.

The top of the list for me will be Christophe Lemaitre running a sub 10 and medaling at the European Outoor Championships. A close second would be to see David Gay get knocked out by Wlad. He probably will continue to duck him though being the coward that he is. All talk and he knows he can't back it up against either one of the K2 Brothers!

If Mickelson's brilliant second shot on 13 had gone in the water the caste media would have raked him over the coals big time. Yet Phil had the confidence in his game and the way he likes to play that he went ahead and attempted it.

After he won he was asked by a reporter what the difference is between a great shot and a smart shot, referring to 13. Mickelson thought for a few seconds and then said, "A great shot is when you pull it off; a smart shot is when you don't have the guts to try it."
