Michigan State booster manages tospewforththe usualanti-white stereotypes -- they're unathletic but man do they bust their butts to overachieve:

Blair White somewhat surprisingly went undrafted, but was signed to a free agent deal by the Indianapolis Colts. This sounds somewhat cliched, but Indianapolis seems like the perfect fit for a smart, hard-working, physically unimposing (and, yes, white) possession receiver--assuming the Colts aren't already overloaded with those kinds of guys (Anthony Gonzalez, Pierre Garcon, Austin Collie). The Colts didn't draft any receivers, so that helps.

Wow, I'm stoked to know that Pierre Garcon has joined the ranks of "White possession receivers!"

I'm a little disappointed with this news. The Colts already have 2 white receivers who will get significant playing time - Gonzalez and Collie. So any time Blair gets will only be at the expense of one of those guys. I wished he had gone elsewhere.

so many teams in a dire NEED of a receiver that can actually, well, receive and he goes to one team that not only features 3 good whites but also 2 of the rare solid blacks.

not good news at all. best case scenario, he will make it as a number 5 receiver, and he is one of the most NFL ready WRs this season and could easily be number 2 guy on a team with weaker receiving corp

I saw a lot of Blair White over his college career and I have no idea why scouts would not want this guy on their team. He's always open, catches everything and has good speed and movement. That white skin disadvantage really hurts a guy.

Another thing about White and I think this hurt Hass too, they were walk-ons which means the f@gs that spend all their time tracking high school players never liked them to start out with. I think the "taint" of being a walk-on hurts white players forever. I know some overcome it like Mike Furrey but it always lingers in the minds of coaches GM's and scouts.

Jaxvid, even Gil Brandt has this to say about Blair White.

PRO DAY RESULTS: One of the most impressively athletic receivers at the
NFL Scouting Combine was Michigan State's Blair White. He backed up that
outstanding performance with another eye-opening workout at the
Spartans' pro day on March 17. White (6-foot-2 1/8, 205 pounds) ran the
40-yard dash in 4.42 and 4.46 seconds, had a 35 1/2-inch vertical jump, a
10-foot broad jump and did position drills. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com

Backrow and Jaxvid I 100% agree with your posts; from his walk on stigma to him going to a team that actually has two solid black WRs, although Pierre does have a typical case of the drops, which blacks are allowed to get away with. But he's still good.

And what does suck, is that although Gonzo is fast, I don't think he's as fast as Garcon. Thus, I have a feeling Garcon will remain the deep threat and Gonzo, Collie and White will battle it out for the 3rd and 4th spots. However, Gonzo could be the deep threat. Hell, I think the combo of White's speed, quickness and precise route running will allow him to get open deep a lot, like he did in college.

But on paper, you'd say: Wayne will be the #1, Garcon will be used to spread the field and Gonzo, Collie or White will be an incredible underneath guy who is too fast and quick to be covered by a safety.

I think Gonzo can beat out Garcon though. And really, you're talking about a first round pick vs. a 6th round pick, so maybe I'm underestimating Gonzalez's potential role in the offense. Although Garcon may be able to spread the field slightly better, Gonzo does a whole lot more better. Edited by: Fightingtowin

The Colts are smart and know they have a potential steal with White. I would not be shocked to see them trade either Gonzo or Garcon either this year or next. At worst, they can stash White this year and something most likely will open up for him next year. I think Baskett is a goner for sure.

If there's a trade I hope it's Gonzalez because even though he's white many DWFs don't realize it. Collie and White along with Clark would be a very very nice trio, though I don't have confidence that White is going to be given an opportunity by the Colts or any other team. Giguere is also on the Colts' roster; he's been patiently waiting for an opportunity for years. Before him it was John Standeford, who never was given a chance by Indy.

Oh, and besides having to be a walk-on at MSU and not being drafted by the NFL despite being an athletic specimen along with being a great collegiate receiver, White also has this black mark working against him. What NFL team would want to waste a draft pick on someone like Blair White:

We often overlook the "student"Â￾ part of the student-athlete. Plenty of college athletes live up to the "athlete"Â￾ part, but this past season, no MSU male athlete lived up to the complete term more than former wide receiver Blair White.

A former walk-on for the football team, White broke onto the stage in the second half of the 2008 football season and only got better in 2009.
This past season, White led the Spartans in receptions (70), receiving yards (990) and receiving touchdowns (nine).
White's on-the-field success landed him first team All-Big Ten honors from the league's coaches, but it's what he has done off the field that makes his success that much more amazing.
White graduated in the fall with a 3.89 GPA in human biology and was named an Academic All-American â€" the program's first since 1993.
The man aptly nicknamed "The Dentist,"Â￾ turned down dental school at the University of Michigan and the University of Detroit-Mercy to pursue professional football. He signed Saturday with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent.

Cerebral, ultra-athletic, and Caucasian...Blair White is the absolute opposite of what the Corporate NFL Piggies are attempting to advertise to the white youth of America as a role model.

I also hope Gonzo is traded"¦and Wayne, Collie, Garcon, Clark, and White get the majority of the playing time (with Giguere on special teams). The Colts haven't been kind to undrafted white WRs"¦Iowa stud Ed Hinkel, and Purdue's legendary John Standeford are a few examples.

Your post is spot on Thrashen.

If Gonzo hasn't lost his speed, he still could be one of the faster WRs in the NFL. Gonzo ran a 4.44 at the combine- I believe- which is very similar speed to Garcon. I would like either Gonzo or Collie to be traded. Both have shown enough that they should get plenty of PT elsewhere. If Collie is traded that leaves them with just TEs Clark or Tamme to man the slot job, if Gonzo is traded that leaves them with just Garcon- and somewhat Wayne and White- as deep threats.

Giguere is another guy with some deep speed. He ran a sub 4.5 at the CFL combine. I don't know if he'll return kicks, but he'll probably have to show something as a returner to beat out Baskett with this BS caste system- even though he's a better receiver. Baskett and his over-hyped beauty playmate wife (Kendra Wilkinson) are just too popular with the DWFs and Rivals media, especially since she "dissed" Kevin Curtis.

Here is something on Giguere, as well as Shipley.

Colts see Welker-like qualities in Giguere.

We've been hearing the following Whispers around the NFL:

If the season were to open tomorrow, our Colts sources tell us shifty Sam Giguere and second-year CB Jerraud Powers would probably be the starting kickoff and punt returners, respectively, although it's quite possible speedy seventh-round CB Ray Fisher could quickly enter the mix. Word is the Colts believe Giguere has potential to be more than just a decent return man. "They think he can be a Wes Welker-type weapon in the slot down the road," said one team insider. "They really like his athleticism."

Bengals rookie WR Jordan Shipley figures to push for playing time immediately, the way we hear it. Shipley is best-suited for the slot and could take playing time away from Andre Caldwell (51 catches last season) if he's a quick study and performs well. Caldwell has been a reliable possession receiver, but he is not dangerous after the catch and has but two catches of 20 yards or more to his credit in two NFL seasons. Shipley's arrival intensifies the competition for roster spots beyond starters Chad Ochocinco and Antonio Bryant and could leave the Bengals with some interesting decisions when it's time to pare down the roster.Edited by: green fire317

It will be very nice if Giguere is returning kicks at the start of the season. Hopefully they don't demote him and put another afflete in his place. Shipley has a good chance of being used significantly this season.

i would hope that Garcon is the wideout who'd get traded rather than Collie or Gonzo ... for two reasons: 1) there's likely more of a market for a "phenomenal" afflete who is "raw" wif "incredible upside" and a room-brightening smile than for a couple ofover-achieving hustle players with grit, determination, and a good understanding of how to get open. and 2) i'd rather have an all-White (or nearly so) wide receiving corps for Peyton Manning, as that will show two things to the DWFs: how truly incredible Manning is (he can put up numbers throwing it to anyone, you see
smiley2.gif
) and you don't need a bunch of negroes to have a bunch of talented receivers.

i mean, it's not like Garcon is a better player than Collie or Gonzo. and as for Baskett (who couldn't catch a football if hewas allowedto carry one), he's a complete turd.

i know it won't happen, but i'd like to see the final roster include Wayne, Gonzalez, Collie, Giguere, and White. i mean, damn! that's a lot of playmakers for cheap.

in related news ... Bill Polian has brought in Canadian wide receiver Jordan Sisco for another extended workout. this is the second time the Canadian has been invited to work with the team this spring.

Sisco is virtually unknown to us south of the border, but he was dominant in the university system in the Great White North. it was also reported that he was uncoverable in the East-West Shrine Game (for American collegiate standouts) practices. of course, that couldn't be solely because of his talent ... rather the compliments were mixed in with the usual caste speak, as quoted below:

Jordan Sisco is a try hard over achiever who has exceptional hands. He's got decent strength to avoid jams at the line of scrimmage and is an elusive runner after the catch ... He compares favorably to some of the other big name receivers in this class as far as skills, but not in name recognition.

East-West Shrine Game: Jordan Sisco (Regina) continues to shine here in Orlando. He is a very smooth route runner, and his footwork is right on point. His steps are even, and it's hard for a defensive back to press him and knock him off his route. He can sky to snare the ball, and stands out on comeback routes. A potential interception was ripped away from Alterraun Verner and became a reception for Sisco. He's the token Canadian player here in the Shrine Game, and has impressed more than other Canadian players in the past. â€" Draft Guys (01.19.10)

East-West Shrine Game:
Jordan Sisco (Regina) was making a lot of catches today. He seems like a very "try hard"Â￾ type of player that will work hard to hone his skills. Time after time he would make a difficult catch seem routine. Sisco has natural hands and always caught his passes with arms extended away from his body. â€" Draft Guys (01.18.10)

so there are 5 white receivers at Colts camp and 3 white tight ends? This is most likely a record that will never be equaled!

EDIT: 6 WRs, i forgot John Matthews!!!Edited by: backrow

yeah, don't forget Matthews (like i did!
smiley9.gif
). he's a very talented athlete.

and there are6 White tight ends in Colts camp, backrow.
smiley2.gif
in addition to Clark, Santi, Snow (who is strictly a long snapper but is technically a tight end), and Tamme, the Colts also have Colin Cloherty out of Brown and Brody Eldridge from Oklahoma.

of course, Indy makes up for it by having only one White defensive back (Jamie Silva) and zero White running backs.

edited to add: there is another couple of interestingstorylines in camp ... on the d-line.

a guy i don't know much about, other than he was the Defensive Player of the Year in the Canadian Football League last season, isdefensive end John Chick. hewas signed as a free agent in January. in 3 seasons in the CFL, Chick had 68 career tackles, 19 sacks, 6 FF and 3 FR. and again, he was THE best defensive player in their league last season. he's also got a pretty cool website, complete with videos, a blog, and training tips.

Chick is one of only four White d-linemen in Colts camp: defensive ends Chick and J.D. Skolnitsky (who is rumored to bearaw projectwith a lot of upside if you can believe it) anddefensive tackles John Gill and Mitch King, who are both "undersized" but "somehow" make a lot of plays when on the field.

hopefully, some of these guys will manage to overcome the considerable obstacles in their path to make the final roster.Edited by: Jimmy Chitwood

Of course, Ndamukong Suh is "only" 6'4" @307 pounds, virtually the same size as John Gill, and I didn't hear too many people complaining that he's "undersized", rather, he was the top-rated player in the draft on many teams boards.

Nice to see Mitch King's name...he was royally screwed in the 2009 draft. He was amazing in college and such a playmaker. I hope he sticks with the Colts.
