Very disappointed that the Colts lost this one. Overall, they didn't play that bad of a game if you examine the stats. Not to hack it up here, but besides the obvious run back to near midfield with less then a minute left, Jets had 18 min of TOP vs the Colts 12 for the 2nd half. This spelled utter doom as Indy should not have even been in squeaker mode to pull this one out.
Yes, the conservative play calling in the 4th Q didn't help matters. Manning has telegraphed a lot all year. Colts D started to get carved up and allowing the kick off run back was....just atrocious.
As cliche as it is, the kicking game decides everything with 2 relatively even teams.
Doesn't matter now, the Pats will dismantle the Jets comfortably next week and Rex can get back to making foot fetish vids.
Btw, I do agree that calling the timeout to with 29 seconds left was absolutely dumb. Jets weren't even close to being set and would have had maybe 2 more plays before needing to kick the FG. It was just a shade under 50 yds at that point. WTF were the Colts thinking here? Even if they throw an incomplete and then make the FG, you have what, maybe 20 seconds left and no time outs. ?
So then you are relying on a kick off pretty much all the way back instead of a 45+ FG by a young kicker on the road in a high pressure situation.
What is more likely to happen? a missed long kick at the last second or a improbable miracle run back?
As for Saints-Seahawks: Again, the bit more blacker team wins here and extreme Casteophile Pete Carroll moves on. Although this was a entertaining game. White wideouts and TEs provided many key plays.
Carlson and Stokely are terrific and David Thomas is Brees go to guy.
Saints D clearly outclassed all afternoon.
Got to admit, thug Lynch with a nice TD run. It was ironic seeing last year's SB hero Terry Porter thrown down like a piece of rubbish...how things change in life from year to year.
Hopefully the Packers can salvage wild card weekend.

eh that wasn't that great of a run by Lynch. Saints defenders knew their best hope was to try to strip the ball, so none of them tried to tackle. So I can't really give him to much credit, the guy is still a turd 
About Jahri Evans being ridiculously overpaid, I agree. He was actually above average last year. Then they moved the refs behind the line of scrimmage and he sucks with a bunch of penalties. Hopefully this will keep the interior of the line white, because even guard has been becoming more of a sumo position, and it looks like "elite" guards such as Evans and Nicks were getting by with holding. I know there is holding on almost all plays but I guess they do it more than average.
It is sickening to see Graham being called the next Gates and Shockey's replacement, NEXT YEAR. He doesn't even have blocking down. David Thomas and Shockey can do what he does but wind up staying behind to block more often, because they can and are willing to. Shockey still has better numbers, and that is with an injury most of the year.
Zach Strief should clearly be starting at left tackle yet dwfs say he isn't athletic enough, even though he has handled plenty of good pass rushers. This reminds me of when I was mocked and yelled at for claiming Chris Reis was way more athletic than Roman Harper and should be playing. Today I was proved right (well it was just more obvious than usual today), unfortunately Reis is on IR. Harper was burned all day long and the other week couldn't outrun Sam Bradford with a 15 yard head start. I wanted Matt Giordano to come in but he was inactive.
The Saints keep getting blacker and Drew can't overcome this, the fact that he has been able to win despite his surrounding caste says alot about his talent. He has to avoid pressure more than Manning and Brady, especially this year after the refs moved to the behind the los, all of a sudden the entire line looks like crap. Unfortunately Stinchcomb is the only one who gets the blame, and is called the weakest link when he is actually the best one right now. Amazing how fast Sean Payton is willing to get rid of white players after he had to get a bunch in desperation after Katrina, Shanle, Mark Simoneau, Fujita, Brian Young. Lance Moore over Mike Hass. Shanle is the only one still here. If anyone has seen Moore play, hes good, but I guarantee Hass would be twice the receiver in that offense. I think Todd Blythe would be better than Adrian Arrington who the fans say is going to have a break out year any time now. Chase Lyman would be better than Robert Meachem. Aaron Hosack would put up nice stats as well. I know Lyman was injury prone but one of those guys should have stuck around to contribute, but I guess Payton only likes white tight ends, even if they are split out wide most of the time.
Charleston should clearly be playing almost every down. Will Smith is inconsistent and nobody on the left side is any good besides Charleston. Crazy to think he was working at a kinkos type place before the Saints called him, after the Colts discarded him.
The Patrick Robinson pick never made any sense, even Bobby Bowden said the kid had no football sense and wasn't that great of a cornerback. That is pretty bad when Bowden says something like that about an afflete. At least they didn't trade up to get Sean Weatherspoon who the fans wanted to replace Shanle. Wouldve been nice to see them get AJ Edds to fill in Fujita's loss.
Nice to see that Stokley has gas left in the tank, when the team is actually willing to use him. He is 34 years old and supposedly never possessed "speed" or "affleticism", so how is is this 34 year old that has lost supposedly "lost a step he couldn't afford to lose" still managing to get open. Speaking of older white receivers, hopefully Curtis is used a bunch tomorrow. It will be the Chiefs best chance if they want to win if he can stretch the field with Cassell throwing it to him.
I am interested to see how Jamaal Charles runs against the Ravens. Me and TJR have agreed that he has a similar running style to Woodhead. The Ravens will be a good matchup to see how Danny and Charles compare against the same tough run defense, while I think Charles is elite, I don't know if he would have averaged 6.4 ypc going against different competition,(I still think it would be in the 5.6 to 6 range though), so the Ravens would be a good measuring stick since Danny had 11 carries for 63 yards against them, 5.7 ypc and 5 catches for 52 yards. So far against the same teams this year, Woodhead has had 40 carries for 282 yards 7.05 ypc 3 tds, Charles has 70 carries for 445 yards 6.35 ypc 1 td. It would sure be nice to see Woodhead in a Charles type role with Lawfirm like Jones.

Peyton Manning gets a lot of heat for coming up short on the play-offs, but the reality is that there's lots more blame to go around. Sure, he's had a few bad games uncharacteristic of his usually lofty standards, but hardly anyone talks about the afflete dominated defenses who can't stop anybody, the receivers (Harrison and Wayne) who consistently disappear, and poor coaching (both by Dungy and Caldwell) which includes questionable calls and preparation.
Today, Manning did his job. He got the ball with about 2:30 left and 2 timeouts, marched down the field and got what appeared to be a game-winning FG by Vaniteri. The lousy defense and special teams could not hold down the Jets for 45 seconds. Why not run some more time off the clock before that FG and give the Jets as little time as possible? And then they called timeout with 29s left, giving the Jets a chance to re-group? That was a similarly boneheaded move by Caldwell as he did in a regular season game against the Jaguars, which also cost the Colts the victory.
And how about the end of the first half? You intercept the ball, have it on your own 25yd line with 45s and 2 time-outs. The game is clearly one of those low-scoring affairs where points are at a premium. So, why run a couple of dumb plays and run out the clock, instead of trying to get a FG? The cameras showed Caldwell motioning to Manning to slow down and run out the clock. That was another dumb coaching decision.
The Colts weren't going to beat either PIT or NE, so I'm not too worried about this loss. Hopefully NE will take care of business, and the Jets are a better match-up for them anyway. I just wanted to see fat-ass Rex Ryan go home so we don't have to listen to him for one more week.
I could not care less about Seattle or the BAL-KAC game tomorrow. I just hope GB can come thru.

Why would Peyton Manning get any blame for the lose? He did his job and got the lead with less than a minute remaining, but once again the defense faltered. The Colts have a much different offense without Austin Collie and lets not forget Dallas Clark was also missing.

The Colts had far too many injuries to make a long playoff run. In the end their injuries caused them to falter. In the NFL the health of a team has alot to do with the out come later in the season and especially in the playoffs. The Colts could not overcome the loss of Clark and Collie. Hopefully they will both be back with a vengance next year.

Yep, Manning doesn't play defense or special teams. It was just a down year in general for the Colts, they had to struggle just to make the playoffs. Hopefully they'll realize that having a few more "Pat Angerer types"roaming the defense is a good thing. . .
Nakamura DB for the Ravens just had an INT...as he was running around in traffic all's Ed Reed could do was clap for the ball; not worried at all about picking up a block...then Nakamura was dangling the ball thinking about pitching it and fumble's back to KC...

Kevin Curtis has been running as a starting wideout for the Chiefs, but I haven't seen him targeted yet. Understandable, as the Chiefs have been running the ball very well and not passing much at all. Vrabel, McGraw and Studebaker all getting reps on defense for KC too.
I wish we could see Woodhead line up in power formations like Charles with 2 and 3 tight ends lined up tight to draw defenders closer to the box. Ive noticed with some of Charles's long runs after the 2nd level its open field and straight line running while Danny still has defenders to make miss once he is in the 2nd level since they have more multiple receiver sets with defenders playing further away form the line. Everyone thinks its easier to have 20+ yard runs with the defense spread out but you have to be quicker in that type of offense, which is why Zach Line is so impressive in the run and shoot, hes a bigger guy and able to be quick enough and has tons of 20+ yard runs.

Heap was amazing. One of the annoucers said he had a good gamebecause Heap is clever. Wow. That is a new term I never heard before. How about speaking the truth? He had a good game because he is one of the most athletic tightends in the NFL. He dominated because of his athletecism.No they just can't handle the truth can they? Haha. I'm so ready to watch the Packers try to take it to the Eagles. I feel like the announcers on the pre game show are already trying to say that Vick isn't totally healthy to give him an excuse if he loses despite Michael Vick saying he is 100% healthy. Kuhn picks up the first down conversion and right to the sideline. It's almost comical how productive he is whenever he touches the ball, yet he only gets one touch at a time.
