Utah has used a lot of imported Polynesian players for years even though Utah is rich in white talent. Using strict criteria, Utah had 11 white starters in 05', 06' and 07'. They only had 8 in 08'. Looks like more of the same as Kyle Whittingham seems to be going all non-white on defense. Sad stuff! Another white player to look for is RB Sausan Shakerin, who should see playing time this year.

Offense
QB Jordan Wynn
WR John Peel
TE Chris Joppru
LT Zane Beadles
LG Caleb Schlauderaff
C Zane Taylor
RT Tony Bergstrom

Defense
MLB Mike Wright-former walk-on, now best defensive player

Yeah, this is horrible from Utah. They are quickly browning themselves on Defense. At least the offense is mostly white. The defense though, I won't watch. What the hell is Whittingham doing? He has enough white talent in the state, he doesn't need polynesians.

there is a significant Polynesian population in utah, so i would expect the Utah schools to have several Polynesians on their teams. and most of them arent imported, most are from the U.S. with a lot coming from the state of utah.

NorCal, I know you didn't look it up or you wouldn't have said they were mostly from Utah, but out of those Polynesians who should start this year, 3 are from California, one is from Samoa via Michigan, and one is straight from Hawaii. Thats what I mean by imported. They aren't from Utah, at least not the starters, not one! I lived in Utah for 4 years and I know a lot about the Polynesian population. There are a lot in the SLC area, but not anywhere else in the state in any large numbers. No matter which way you look at it, Utah should be a whiter team than they are. Utah is a very white state by population, but the U doesn't reflect that on its football team. If every team went by population of residents, then college football would be a whole lot whiter than it is.

White Power, thanks for the reminder about Sausan. Right now, he's not listed on the 2 deep chart, but hopefully will be by September.

White Power said:
their still better than the brothas just my opinion.

On the whole, I agree. They just aren't white and they don't suffer from the Caste System like whites.

In a way the team is still an improvement over last years in that at the QB is now white unlike last year. I'll put Utah on my list of teams to watch that should have more white players based on their location. (Kansas State is a good example of a team that was unusually black that became whiter this year).

It's almost like Utah experiences unprecedented success for a NON BCS program, winning 2 BCS bowls in 5 years, so they turn their backs on the white players who helped get them there. I get an eiree feeling that we won't be seeing a white DB, a la Eric Weddle, for quite sometime. What a shame Whittingham has to change his recruiting to supposedly "reflect" the team's success.

at 6-2, 225-pounds, redshirt freshman tailback Sausan Shakerin is the fastest running back on the team, and he is expected to be a big-time contributor according to rumors coming out of Utah camp.

that's good news!

Corbin Louks is transferring to Nevada. I hate to see this, but maybe his efforts won't be wasted in Reno as they have been in Salt Lake City. Hopefully Jordan Wynn will end up being the starting QB for Utah.
SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah quarterback Corbin
Louks announced Tuesday that he plans to transfer to Nevada. Louks had
been dividing his time between quarterback and safety since last
Friday.

Following last Thursday's scrimmage, the Utes had selected Jordan Wynn
to be at the top of the depth chart, followed by Terrance Cain and
Louks at third.

Whittingham addressed the media following Tuesday's practice. "We
appreciate the contributions that Corbin has made to our program,"
Whittingham said. "The role he played for us the last two seasons was
definitely a factor in our success. We wish him nothing but the best in
all his future endeavors."

Corbin felt like transferring would be the best thing for the team, not
just himself. "I plan to transfer and I feel it is best for the team
that I don't drag things out," Louks told KSL. "The team needs to
concentrate on the game with Utah State and I don't want to be a
distraction. Transferring will give me the opportunity to play a
position I know and love. I've really enjoyed my two years here at Utah
and have made some lifelong friends. I want to thank the coaches,
players and fans for all their support.

Other quarterbacks Jordan Wynn and Terrance Cain are currently
1 and 1-A on the depth chart after Cain worked himself back into
contention with a great showing at Saturday's practice.

Utah finishes up fall camp this week with a scrimmage on Saturday.
Their first game is Thursday, September 3, against Utah State.

Louks is an explosive athlete with the ball in his hands. even if he wasn't the Utes' answer at quarterback, why would they try to move him to the secondary? why not give him a shot at tailback or wideout?

that kind of playmaking is hard to find. and he has tremendous speed. that's just a weird move by the coaches ...

I agree weird treatment for Louks, one less white athlete for them to deal with and complete their process of fitting in with the "big dogs" of college football.
