Well...the league will have no choice but to embrace Jake Locker when he arrives on the scene(4.39-4.4)...the Steve Young rule will just have to apply!
I liked Frost & Crouch back in the day; and would have like to have seen them get shot at QB too...but I really wanted Crouch to suceed at "tailback"...since it's so RARE to see at that position. And Frost become another John Lynch. They just did not pass the ball enough in college...that hurt them most.
Yeah the Proehl's; Waddle's; Chrebet's; Stokely's; Welker's have been accepted in this caste system over the years....if 2 of the 5 WR's(or 6)on the roster were white it usually got(gets) my attention...it seemed like any tall WR back then was immediately compared to McCaffrey...ex-Jurevicius
Big fast WR's that come to mind but faded into oblivion like ....Patrick Jeffers(6'3" 218)in99' had 63rec 1,082yds 12 TD's! Devestating knee injuries put a halt to that thanks to a cheap shot! A former walk-on in college/GO FIGURE! BTW...TJRiggins made a nice thread on him
Mark Boerigter (6'-3" 220) from tiny Hastings Started in CFL...then went to KC Chiefs(mostly reserve..but in 02' he scored on a 99 yard TD..(CAN'T FIND VIDEO) It was said his rare great size/speed ratio was impossible to ignore!! In that game he had 5-144-2 vs Chargers...but couldn't seem toshake the injury bug...
Maybe the next wave Nelson, Walter...Decker & Cooper can open the door further!! And stinkin Rivals.com
Yeah the smallest safety in the NFL Jim Leonhard is getting big props as an emerging top safety!
When I was a kid..a WR for the Bears named Ken Margerum(back in 80's)stated he wore "black cleats" to make him appear slower with his deceptive speed....
