Hey, I don't mind the Bengals as long as Leonard's touches continue to increase each week. Leonard is the second RB, which is more than we can say about any other white man in the entire league. I'm not really a Marvin "appease the thugs" Lewis fan, but at least he doesn't appear to disdain white players. Leonard had 3 catches for 30 yards as a slot back type and had one carry last week. If Lewis will dare to EVEN give Leonard 5-9 carries a game in the oncoming weeks I might actually root for them.

I guess it's all relative since no NFL coach is fair, but I'd say Lewis is better to whites on his roster than a bunch of NFL coaches. You can't get any worse than Hatie Smith, Jack Del Rio and Jim Zorn.

Leonard did not practice today, so he might be be questionable for Texans game. it's his groin.

Whites have been quite sparse on the Bengals since Lewis became coach. An all-black defense since they let Justin Smith leave, several white safeties none of whom have gotten more than a token opportunity at playing time. Carson Palmer and a couple of white o-linemen are it, other than Leonard, who was nearly cut at the end of training camp. Chase Coffman has been a healthy scratch all season even though they are in desperate need of a good tight end.

Also, to have a team full of thugs year after year says a lot about Lewis and the Brown family that owns the team. I have zero faith in Lewis's ability to be fair to white players.

I was real bummed when David Pollak got injured. They also had Caleb Miller a few years ago and Kevin Kaishvihearn. David Pollak getting his NFL career cut short is one of the great disappointments in the past few NFL seasons for me.

White tight ends don't usually have to go through the prolonged racial apprenticeships suffered by white players on defense and WR, but the Bengals have inexplicably made Chase Coffman a healthy scratch all season despite losing Ben Utecht to IR and having in Daniel Coats the typical black with hands of stone and limited athleticism. Here's the lame update I found on a fantasy site on Coffman, who was a polished, seemingly NFL ready tight end at Missouri. Let's hope he isn't gonna get the Garrett Mills treatment:

The tight end position in Cincinnati has been under scrutiny after dropped passes byDan Coatsand fumbles from both Coats andJ.P. Foschi. Throughout it all, third-round draft pickChase Coffmanhas been inactive for the team's first six games of the year but OC Bob Bratkowski says that could change. "He could be pretty close to playing at some point here soon. Then you'll find out when and if he does, where he's at. What his strengths are and what we will be able to use him on."Â￾Edited by: Don Wassall

I was very high on Coffman from what I saw of him in college. I'd project him as a Dallas Clark best case and Kevin Boss worse case. Supposedly, the knock on Chase is his blocking but that was the same for Boss out of college but he got playing time to learn on the job. Keep in mind the Giants were a good team in the playoff hunt. There is no excuse for the Bungals to ride him on the pine.

Yesterday while in a bar the NFL network was on but the sound was down and they kept replaying Leonard's pass plays while Uncle Steve expounded on and on in some coaching shtick. I was wondering if they were ripping on Brian or praising the d-back?

It was a love-in for Antoine Winfield.

Brian is looking a little thick. I know he has been put on a roller coaster by the caste bullies, but I think to get some moves back he needs to get to HB weight which I think for him is 225 he looks 240 right now. That lineman on that one play looked sumoish standing there, he should have crushed the db. If I were the coach this week I would be looking at changing that OL guy's attitude.

I noticed that the Bengals have five "Johnsons" on their roster, all black of course. Just think, if Ochostinko had kept his given name, the Bengals would most likely have set the all-time Johnson record.

For whatever it's worth:

Friday notes: Palmer likes big target

At 6-6, Matt Jones would officially be Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer's tallest NFL target and he's intrigued via this text Thursday night from the Left Coast: "I'm excited to see what Matt can do. Any time you add a big fast guy there's more potential for big plays, which is what we're looking for."

Palmer should have another 6-6 guy waving at him as rookie tight end Chase Coffman rehabs from his ankle scope late last season. Head coach Marvin Lewis came out Friday singing Coffman's praises.

"I'm excited about how Chase will help us; he's a big-time receiving threat," Lewis said. "He catches every ball thrown near him. It's uncanny how he catches the ball. He'll help us down in the scoring zones, he'll help us in medium yardage situations, he'll help us on first and second downs."

Even with their coal black defense, if this plays out right with Jones starting at WR, and Coffman starting at TE, along with Leonard and Palmer, the Bengals could be a team to cheer for next year. I hope they have a majority white O-Line again this year.

Dare I say it but I think you might be right Jack, I might actually find myself watching the Bengals with a little bit of interest. I think Tom Nelson has a good chance of upsetting that coal black defense aswell because he has flashed some brilliance in the little time he got last season, and I know they rate him highly, especially his athleticism!

Not unexpected but still good news for Matt Jones:

Bengals released WR Laveranues Coles. Coles' four-year, $27.5 million deal was a high-risk, low-reward gamble from the start. Drop-prone with no playmaking ability or separation skills, Coles was a major factor in the Bengals' passing attack falling apart at the seams down the stretch. To put it bluntly, he was a colossal waste of $10M in guaranteed money. The Bengals now have an obvious void at No. 2 receiver.

Report: Bengals, Bryant complete 4-year deal

According to his player representative's website, free agent Antonio Bryant has agreed to a four-year contract with the Bengals.

Likely solidifies Matt Jones as the slot receiver, but also makes it more problematical that he even makes the team. Bryant is injury prone though, and is also a world class head case.

The media's endless hatefest for Matt Jones continues:

Bengals agreed to terms with WR Antonio Bryant on a four-year, $28 million contract. Matt Jones should've signed elsewhere, because he won't make the team. Bryant, 29, gives the club a legit vertical threat, and defenses someone other than Ochocinco to worry about in the passing game. While questions remain about what's left of Carson Palmer's deep ball, Bryant should instantly make him and Ocho better with Andre Caldwell in the slot. Bryant is unlikely to top 70 catches in Cincinnati, but 950 yards and 5-7 TDs is realistic. Great signing.

28 million? I don't think Bryant isn't that good of a receiver...Matt Jones could be a vertical threat and a red zone threat.

So much for the dwf saying "coaches always play the best players". It seems Bryant is a lock to make the team and Jones is going to have to compete for a 4th receiver spot, this is before training camp even begins. I hope he actually gets a real shot to compete with Bryant for the number 2 spot.Edited by: dwid

I've followed Bryant since he went to Pitt and he does have talent -- but so does Matt Jones. Bryant is infamous for throwing sideline tantrums, yelling at teammates and coaches (he once threw a towel at Bill Parcell's face) and otherwise being unable to control his emotions.

Bryant's been in the league since 2002 (and was out of it completely in '07 because no one wanted to deal with him) and has had two good seasons. Jones had the best rookie season of any receiver in '05, then was underused and abused for two seasons, then was on his way to an 80 catch 1000 yard season until he was suspended. But Bryant is annointed as the big play, deep threatstarter while Jones now "won't even make the team."

Here's another assessment from a widely read fantasy site. Jones isn't even mentioned as being in the picture, the #3 spot is given to the scrub Andre Caldwell:

Antonio Bryant (WR, signed by Cincinnati from Tampa Bay) â€" Bryant and the Bengals agreed four-year, $28 million deal.

Quick Take:The Bengals appeared to be between Bryant and Terrell Owens after having the receivers visit on consecutive days. The signing of Bryant appears to make a little more sense for the long term as he is 29-years old, whereas Owens will turn 37 later this year. Bryant is a physical receiver, which will complement Chad Ochocinco very well and give the team a more complete receiving corps, especially if Andre Caldwell can become a consistent #3. In addition, Bryant can get downfield, which was something the team sorely lacked last season after losing Chris Henry. Bryant dealt with a knee issue for a good portion of the 2009 season as well as the adjustment period at QB for the Bucs, which included starts by Byron Leftwich, Josh Johnson, and Josh Freeman. He'll be in a much better situation with Cincinnati as long as QB Carson Palmer is healthy and the Bengals show some improvement in their pass protection. This may be the sleeper signing of the offeseason.

Jones as the slot WR is ridiculous. He's a huge and fast target who needs to work the space of the field as an outside guy as dwid's video showed. Jones can then use his speed and great one cut ability to run down and ins, in slants and in posts and muscle for the ball when he has to, but he is primarily an outside guy. Marvin Lewis will be a big enemy of this site if he doesn't give Leonard an occasional carry each game and make him the third down receiving back and doesn't put Jones as the #2 WR. Lewis has done nothing to make me think he is any different than any other caste junky coach, so I'm not hopeful at this point.

The Bengals would have been better off with Chad Johnson (I refuse to call him Ocho Cinco) as the #1, Jones at #2 and Caldwell in the slot! I guess the black power NFL and their "analysts" think the headcase signing of Bryant is a "brilliant" move.

Jones is every bit as good as Bryant and was a heck of a lot cheaper for similar production. Jones is faster and more consistent than Bryant IMO. Jones as a slot WR is a joke because he doesn't have the skill set to be a great slot WR. Jones is clearly a #1 or #2 WR and would be among the league leaders in every category if he's ever given a legit chance there. Even a universal "great" #1 WR like Randy Moss struggled playing in the slot the few times he lined up there...Edited by: JReb1
