Anybody that runs a 4.28 should be given a chance. That's freakish speed. But since he's white, that's just probably straight line speed and he doesn't have enough swivel in his hips.

Brad Mueller:
Ht: 6-0 Wt: 175 40: 4.27
Position: TB, FS
Date of Birth: 04/02/1985
Year: Class of 2003
High School: Mars Area SHS (Same H.S as Billy Bair)
(Mars, PA)
College: Boston College

From Scout.com:
Brad plays free-safety and tailback for Mars Area High School, but is being recruited to play cornerback. His best asset is his blazing speed. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.31 seconds at the Penn State Nike Camp this year and later ran a 4.27 at the Metro Index football camp. Was named all-state by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Pittsburgh Tribune Review in 2002.

Brad Mueller was ranked as the 28th best CB by Caucasianrivals.com, 61st by Scout.com. He was actually recruited by:
Boston College
Arizona State
Duke
Iowa
Purdue
Wisconsin
:But only as a FS or CB despite putting up amazing numbers running the ball with his freakish athleticism

However, he made the mistake of going to Boston College, where they refused to give him playing time. After being buried on the depth chart, he transfered to tiny Slippery Rock College and there by kissed his NFL dreams goodbye.

There was an article about Woodhead and the Jets. Supossedly he is already a fan favorite. I would love to see this kid succeed. Hes such a nice young man with a positive attitude. The article stated he might be able to make it on special teams. Another SPECIAL TEAMS DEMON. I hope thats not the case.

I believe someone already posted that Chrebet is still fresh in the minds of many Jets fans and was a fan favorite (rightly so). Woodhead has a chance, he has been publicized, is in the biggest market for a team, word has spread about him over the internet (youtube and message boards) and his measure ables speak for themselves. The Jets aren't deep at RB and with a strong pre season and a fair shot to prove himself I bet he can make an impact. He is just like Jones-drew but much more nimble and hard to tackle. It really would be great to see him burst on to the scene and i am really cheering for him.

I posted it in the packer forum, but I thought it was worth posting here too.

from the Journal Sentiel's online blog:

Green Bay - The Packers have informed the representatives of former Wisconsin-Whitewater running back Justin Beaver that they will not be signing him to a contract.

The Packers will sign three players. Former Arkansas defensive tackle Fred Bledsoe was told he would be one of those people, according to his agent.

NC State TE Marcus Stone signed by Bears as FA

The Associated Press

http://www.newsobserver.com/sports/story/1070379.html

Given the opportunity, Marcus Stone proved he could play tight end on the college level. Now, he hopes to do it in the NFL.
Stone, who started at tight end for N.C. State last season, has signed a free-agent rookie contract with the Chicago Bears. Stone was one of 28 players invited to a recent minicamp tryout for undrafted players in Lake Forest, Ill. Four were offered free-agent contracts after the camp.

"It's definitely a long shot, but I'll take it," Stone said Monday. "It was an awesome experience being in camp. It's every kid's dream, to be in an NFL locker room, to be fitted for NFL equipment, to practice with NFL coaches.

"I feel like I had a strong camp. I went in with the mind-set I'd do the best I could do and see what happens. Now, I have an opportunity to compete for a spot."

Stone was recruited as a quarterback by the Pack and started parts of two seasons. Switched to tight end, he caught 36 passes for 452 yards and one touchdown last season, playing all 12 games after starter Anthony Hill seriously injured a knee just before camp began.

The Bears have five tight ends listed on their roster, including veteran Desmond Clark, Greg Olsen and former Virginia tight end Fontel Mines. Chicago made Michigan State tight end Kellen Davis a fifth-round pick in the recent NFL draft.

Stone and Davis, 6-foot-7 and 262 pounds, trained together in January and February at Perfect Competition Inc. in Davie, Fla.

Stone, 6-2 and 239 pounds, said he soon will return to Chicago for about three weeks of conditioning and workouts, and will report to preseason camp in late July.

"I went to the minicamp hopeful of getting signed," Stone said. "I did that, so that's one more step. Now, I've got a shot."

That's great news. As a 5'8 170 lb. white WR from Div IAA he had little shot of ever getting into the playing rotation of any NFL team's WR corps.

Even Wes Welker who is a "slightly" bigger and a record breaker from Div. IA almost lost his NFL career when schmuck coach Nick Saban wanted to cut him.

Dressler was wise to go the CFL route. I am actually hopeful that some of these standout white skill players will dominate in the CFL so much (ie. Jesse Lumsden) that the NFL will realize their mistake and give these guys a look later in their career.

Good luck to Mr. Dressler!

Weston Dacus signs two year free agent contract with Chiefs.
I honestly didn't think Weston would get a second look with anybody. So this is unexpected good news. He might not stick, but at least he has a shot.

Weston is a great, under-credited player. I wish him the best with this opportunity.
