Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Well, I wish I'd gotten to see this live (how on earth do you guys manage to find those online feeds of European sports? I can never find anything like that, and I didn't bother to check the boards in time). The Youtube was really choppy and didn't have any sound (if anyone sees a better...

"Rocket" Ramil Guliyev 9.97 and 19.76 (World Champion 2017 over 200 meters)

I don't see Guliyev on the start list for the Marsa meet this weekend, even though he was supposed to headline the event. Any news? Perhaps he was injured during that horrendously slow race in Portugal?

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Here's an article about the false start rule they implemented this year. I said months ago I thought it would be a huge problem and depress times, and that certainly has been the case for LeMaitre. He's gone from repeatedly disqualifying to sitting in the blocks until the race is half over...

    South Africa World Cup 2010

Europe--I'm with you on the picture. Jewish women get my vote for the most beautiful on the planet. And, fwiw, I doubt most people could find the actual line between Europe and Asia on a map. It's just a freaking imaginary line. Turks, for example, are incredibly white. We have a lot at my...

    2010 Outdoor Track Season

Although someone already mentioned this in the Pickering thread, I think it could have been too easily overlooked. A 19-yr-old Russian who was injured all of last year has come back and started running phenomenal times for his age. In fact, at the Russian Cup he just ran a Euro-leading 45.12 in...

    South Africa World Cup 2010

Yes, but Algeria has an all-white team (in fact, 17 of 23 were born in France, which is ironic when you consider the French team). Great win for Slovenia, at any rate--they're the smallest country in the tournament. Hard not to root for an underdog like that.

Can we get a sub 10 in the 100 please!

Despite all the false starts (literally and figuratively) Christophe is a lock for sub-10. Based on his pattern, though, it is more likely to happen at a small local meet. Looking back at his past 12 months, he choked and false started at the World Champs. Then, in his first major race this...

"Rocket" Ramil Guliyev 9.97 and 19.76 (World Champion 2017 over 200 meters)

Well, this is depressing. Ramil recently ran an event in Portugal. There was a heavy negative wind, which would certainly factor, but unless there's some other excuse (such as falling down mid-race), he is seriously out of shape. 10.70 and fourth place against so-so competition. Has he gotten...

    Lukas Verzbicas

Sadly, the event, the Jim Ryun Dream Mile, was not covered on television, as it occurred just ten minutes before NBC picked up its coverage of the NY Diamond League Event. It's hard to get footage of Lukas, because this was his only track race of 2010. (I have to pause when I write that. Can...

    Lukas Verzbicas

Maybe our best days are ahead in track. It's hard not to be excited about Christophe LeMaitre, Brady Gehret, Johan Rogestedt, and Laura Roesler, but we shouldn't forget what a humdinger we have in Lukas V. For those of you who may have forgotten, he's the Lithuanian immigrant who trains for...

Wariner is back and may threaten 43.19!

I love Wariner, but he wasn't even the fastest white runner in this race. He only won because of a bizarre interruption on the outer lanes. Watch the video. Right around 200-250 meters, something happened. The runners in lanes 7, 8, and 9 all abruptly duck from something. The 7 and 8 runners...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Incidentally, LeMaitre's reaction time was very poor--2.08--but Powell's was even worse! The key was the first half of the race. Just because Bolt is a freak, we musn't forget that it's very tough for a tall man to master the first 40 meters of a 100. Christophe's a future Olympic champion in...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Didn't make it. Maybe next time. It's tough. In a race where success is measured by 100th's of seconds, you have to be having your best day. He'll get there. I guess we'll just need to be patient. In this race, I wouldn't say he was left in the blocks, but he just never got it going really...

    2010 Outdoor Track Season

Apparently, UVA's Super frosh, Robby Andrews, just busted out with a 1:45.54 in the 800 today. That's the third fastest time ever run by a US junior.

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

I was just reading a French article about his day. He did indeed face a strong headwind in the 200 (they call the wind "defavorable"), so 20.56 wasn't a bad effort. The headwind would have prevented him from making history in the 200. He needs to get into some big time meets now and let 'er rip.

    2011 Top 100m Sprinters

    1) Does anyone (Mastermulti?) know if Rouge-Serret and Davies will keep running this year or if they've shut down after the end of the Australian season? 10.17 was excellent work. 2) It looks like Nick Smith may have run a couple of wind-aided 10.20's, but the info on this site is so sparse it's...

    Craig Pickering

Poor guy. I hope he is able to turn things around. Either way, he should at least be proud of all he accomplished during his career. It has been a helluva run. And, Craig, if you can get back on track, you'll still have a lot of people (including me) pulling for you.

    Craig Pickering

Yeah, this career is over. I always did think he looked really slow in those training videos posted on YouTube this year. All those short, choppy, stubby-legged strides--sort of the antithesis of Bolt or Lemaitre. And now he can't even run a time that would win a regional high school race in...

    Laura Roesler

Update on Supergirl: She just won her 20th individual state title, winning the 200, 400, and 800 this year. In her 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th grade seasons, she won the 100, 200, 400, and 800. This year she was finally beaten in one event--the 100--by up and coming supergirl (the next Laura...
