    2010 Outdoor Track Season

Honestly, it was impossible to tell. They never showed any good slow-mo relays of the entire 4 by 100. LeMaitre never got a chance to run. Pickering, I couldn't tell. The Italian anchor (possibly Collio) was defeated but only by a small margin.

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Agreed, though, that getting blown out of the blocks can ruin the rest of your race. I think that (along with non-training) was a bigger factor than nerves. He's just gotta start getting serious in the weight room if he wants to be able to hang with the bodybuilders from the start. Watch the...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Well, I certainly hope it favors him in the long run. This wasn't just any race. This was the worst possible race for him to do so horribly. He had a lot of people watching. After drawing so much attention, he was going up against the legendary Bolt. This was his chance to prove that he was...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

On a technical level, LeMaitre's reaction time was identical to Bolt's, yet LeMaitre was left back by almost a full meter after the very first stride! I love the skinny lad, but the steroid-pumped bodybuilders just BLAST out of the blocks, which LeMaitre simply isn't strong enough to do. By 10...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Well, that's what you get for giving interviews all week instead of training. Awful, awful race. 10.09, beaten out of sight. Time to start training like he means it now. Bolt and Gay and company all have dietitians preparing their meals. If Lemaitre wants to enter their class, he needs to start...

    2010 Outdoor Track Season

Surprisingly great women's 1500m. Absolute domination by the beautiful Russian Almininova (sp?), and a sweep by Europeans and Americans. The Ethiopian (whom I believe was last year's world champion) managed only fourth or fifth. May have to add a few of these names to the watch list.

Wariner is back and may threaten 43.19!

Yeah, injuries come with age (as my own body has taught me). At some point, you realize you can choose between two workouts: the one that will make you fastest and the one that will keep you from getting injured. I hate to sound like sour grapes, but I've always been disgusted to look at...

    2010 Outdoor Track Season

For some reason, they didn't disqualify Lewandowski (I don't understand that), but, bear in mind, his time could have been faster, if he'd not had to race partly on grass. Anyway, these are very good times, and quite promising for Wheating the miler, in particular: <table ="rank_table"...

    2010 Outdoor Track Season

Nice 800 meter. Still waiting on the final times, but the gang showed up well. No one could run with Kaki, but Som hung in well for a long time, Wheating came on very strong at the end, as did Lewandowski. Lewandowski will be disqualified for cutting over and running on the grass on the home...

Wariner is back and may threaten 43.19!

Wariner looks fairly strong, but still not like the Wariner of old. The difference is in the last 100 meters, where he's giving up ground now, rather than running away. On the plus side, Borlee started slower and came on very strong at the end for a 44.7 third place. He remains my pick to turn...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Well, we didn't get to see LeMaitre in his first race (4X100). Pognon couldn't catch up to him to give him the baton. Optimistic interpretation: LeMaitre is too fast. Pessimistic interpretation: LeMaitre is too nervous, and took off too hard. Eh, bien. At least he won't be tired for the 100!

Live links for up and coming track meets.

Hey, guys, I just noticed that Universal sports will be running the meet in primetime on TV tonight. A lot of you who are at work during the day can watch the whole thing on your tv, rather than computer. Universal is one of those channels that most of us get (but rarely watch) in the digital...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

My biggest concern is that LeMaitre has only managed to train twice in the past week, owing to media requests. He needs someone to say "no" to some of those requests, as training should be a priority. The diet comments weren't promising either. If all he's done in the past week is eat hamburgers...

What time do the races start? If I get the opportunity, I'll probably try to watch it on Universal.

"Rocket" Ramil Guliyev 9.97 and 19.76 (World Champion 2017 over 200 meters)

Dang. I'm blind as a bat. Well then it's good to see Guliyev running again! Hopefully, he'll get the times back down soon. Phew!

"Rocket" Ramil Guliyev 9.97 and 19.76 (World Champion 2017 over 200 meters)

Well, that's better, but where did you find that? When I clicked on the 2010 results (linked above), they were completely different.

"Rocket" Ramil Guliyev 9.97 and 19.76 (World Champion 2017 over 200 meters)

If I'm looking at the right results, Guliyev didn't run in Karlstadt today. It's really starting to look like he's fallen even faster than Pickering: http://88.131.109.176/folksam/Karlstad/Resultat.php On an unrelated note, there's actually an American in the sprints with the name "J-Mee...

Thanks. It looks like the premier events will be the 800s. I think supergirl (Laura Roesler) will dig deep and do whatever it takes to win in the girls event. In the men's, I love Loxsom and Andrews. This will be their baptism by fire, going against young Africans who don't dawdle and kick...

Good catch on Cabral, Jimmy. I haven't seen a list of who's going. Do you know who's representing the US at the 800, 1500, or 5000?

The World juniors, right? I've got my eye on supergirl, Laura Roesler.

Wheating has been THE big hope in US mid-distance running for a year or so. Everyone feels like he has phenomenal untapped potential. Until the Bowerman mile, it was unclear how much potential he really had. He'd spent four years at Oregon lazily trotting around the track and kicking past...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

    1) I LOVE the coach's comments. He sees 9.92 soon, and seems to see sub-20 coming even easier. Yeah, baby! 2) Lightning, Those languages all stem from a common root. When the Latin-speaking Roman Empire broke up, most of the provinces (though not Britain) continued to speak Latin. However, over...

Wariner is back and may threaten 43.19!

I'll be even more optimistic and say that Borlee will be joining Wariner in the low 44's. Of course, it's hard to predict a given race, as a runner can always have an off day, but I think Borlee is the real deal.
