Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

I just contributed a better translation to Google. That article has taken the same English quote of Bolt's that we've already read and translated it to French. The Google has translated it from the French back to English. At any rate, a better translation of the title is "Bolt is wary of...

What white sprinter will go sub 10 next?

You guys have a lot more faith in Guliyev than me. Granted it's been hard to get information about his recent races, but so far this year, the times he's run wouldn't even get him third place in a high school state championship. Last year, he was great. But this year, he's been slower than sh*t...

    2010 Outdoor Track Season

One hell of a scary start list for that 100m in Paris. Quality top to bottom. Not one slouch in the bunch. Christophe will need to be at his best, and no one will be waiting for him if he sits in the blocks this time! In general, it looks like an exciting meet--with a lot of the big...

    Watch list

I accidentally left Aaron Rouge-Serret off the list. Young Aussie. I believe he's only behind LeMaitre this year.

    Watch list

I thought we might want a forum with an all-purpose watch list. I'll start one, and then if anyone wants to add to it, organize it better, add details or pictures, that's great. My list is a little geared towards the younger crowd, as I tend to be less excited by the guys in their mid-twenties...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

20.16 is fantastic!! I've always said he could be dominant at the 200!! Sub-20 is an even bigger lock than sub-10 was. Did anyone see the race? Looks like Martin Lamy didn't make the final (he must have been having a bad weekend). Anyone else to pull for? Oh, and post the video ASAP!!!!

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Pretty song. Oh, and for what it's worth, on the same day LeMaitre ran 9.98, his great rival Dwain Chambers won his race in 10.14. If breaking this barrier relaxes Christophe, so that his starts are better, he's not going to lose many races for a very long time.

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Freddie, did you notice, too, just how far he was traveling with each stride after midway? I was counting aloud, and it was like one..two..three, then a little later 17....18....19...., then a little later 27.......28......29..........30...........31. Watching the slow-mo and counting like that...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Ha--that's funny. I had just gone back and counted the strides myself. 42 3/4 is exactly what I counted, too. I said a long time ago, that, as sprint styles go, he looks like he's running towards a long jump pit. Yeah, Christophe is on the road to (more) great things. Once he's able to relax...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

First off, here's the link fixed so that it works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8gLRU8XpXI Secondly, here's an interesting article: His start was still awful (DREADFUL .181 reaction time), and his coach said his form was awful (and he gives the details of what was wrong) because Christophe...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Okay, this might be the correct video. There are eight runners, and he leans at the end. I can't be 100% certain because it's also in super slow-mo with no commentary, but I think this is probably it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8gLRU8XpXI

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Yeah, that video is all over the web now, but it's the wrong race. There were eight runners in the final. Not sure what heat that was, but you could even see that he was letting up at the end, as if he didn't care about the time. Hopefully, someone will find the correct video soon. I'm sure the...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Fantastic. As the French would say--"formidable!" Oh, I can't wait to see it in real time, but the super slo-mo is pretty sweet. Congrats to all, but especially to White Lightning, everyone's friend on the track board. We all knew this was coming, back in the winter when Christophe started...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

I second that request. For some reason, it seems that Google changes its search setup about once a week, making it harder to search for foreign language articles. Nowadays, I find it hard to find anything that's not in English.

    2010 Outdoor Track Season

Looked it up: Likourgos Tsakonas 20.67. Some familiar, older names behind him: </font>1. Martial Mbandjock (FRA) 20.55, 2. Likourgos-Stefanos Tsakonas (GRE) 20.69, 3. Sebastian Ernst (GER) 20.77, 4. Igor Bodrov (UKR) 20.77, 5. Leon Baptiste (GBR) 20.84, 6. Kamil Krynski (POL) 20.89, 7...

    2010 Outdoor Track Season

I wonder who's faster between Gillick, Rooney, and Borlee. Anyway, I was reading an article on Wheating, and he said he wish he'd not let the leaders get away at the Bowerman Mile because he had more left in the tank at the end of the race. Maybe he's starting to learn he can compete with the...

    2010 Outdoor Track Season

Over in Oregon, Andrew Wheating didn't win the Bowerman Mile, but he showed that he might develop into a competitor to be reckoned with internationally, as he ran a 3:51.74 mile, crushing the school record held, since 1984, by Olympic champion Joaquin Cruz (who in fact won his Olympic gold that...

    The Return of Tobias Unger!

I had to search around that site, but here's a more precise link of Unger running 10.18 and then another of him running 10.14 in the same meet: http://www.leichtathletik.tv/v/10-18-f%C3%BCr-tobias-unger http://www.leichtathletik.tv/v/10-14-f%C3%BCr-tobias-unger

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Any links? Usually you guys manage to find a television feed somehow (or at least live results). If he races today, he'll do it.

2010 has been the worst season so far!

Adding to the woes: Brady Gehret got violently ill and had to miss the New Balance Nationals for high school. Laura Roesler only finished (a very close) second in the juniors at the USTAF yesterday, owing to the fact that she ran the entire race out in the second lane. Even so, she was easily...

"Rocket" Ramil Guliyev 9.97 and 19.76 (World Champion 2017 over 200 meters)

Dang. Can this season get any worse? Guliyev gone, and LeMaitre psyched out by false starts. We should have had two sub-10 guys already. LeMaitre is legitimate 9.8's if he ever decides to leave the blocks before the race is half over. Anyway, thanks for the update, Lightning. Please update us...

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

Frankly, I think it might happen first in a smaller race where he might not be so psyched-out about his start. There's nothing pie-in-the-sky about anyone's predictions here. Even the 9.8's are achievable. Remember, he would already be WELL under 10 if his reaction times and starts weren't so...

    Remember this guy: Kevin Little

Sheesh--what was the point of posting an incredibly depressing article from 1997? Were you just trying to ruin everyone's morning? That was a feel-bad article from 13 years ago, for crying out loud!

Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.92 and 19.80!

God, god. That's the single worst reaction time I've ever seen reported in a 100m. Can that be accurate? Clearly, his nerves are shot after all the dq's and bad starts. If he'd reacted in the same time he did in his better 60 meter races, he would have run in the low 9.9s even without changing...
