When Gabbert came in late in the first half after Mariota was injured yet again, Mooch complimented the Titans for having an experienced, capable backup available. Nate Burleson and Curt Menefee (who was terrible as the play by play announcer) both immediately snickered and said there was a reason Gabbert was so well traveled. Meantime, they praised ultra-journeyman Josh Johnson the whole game, emphasizing how he hadn't made any "big mistakes." Then right on cue, Johnson threw a pick that effectively ended the game (followed by a pick-six), while Gabbert did a great job of rallying the Titans to the win, who trailed most of the game.
On the NFL Network after the game, the three blacks out of the four analysts (the insufferable Chris Rose was the token non-black) each vociferously defended Johnson, saying the interception wasn't his fault. It certainly looked like an overthrow to me, but even if the receiver was in the wrong place, in 99% of those cases a White QB automatically takes the blame for a pick.
