Is France recruiting from former African colonies? Offering
citizenship? Many African nations are French speaking.

The French team are playing just two white outfield players this world cup, and this went down to just one for most of one game wehn they took off Franck Ribery. It seems quite amazing how black players dominate. I'm just watching teh European Cup Athletics (track+Field) championships at teh moment and the french mens team seems to be totally made up of men of black african descent. Perhaps the native French people are just not as interested in Sports as other European nations. Even allowing for an above average black population the lack of White representation really hits you in the face. Perhaps they have their own caste system? It would be interesting to hear from anyone who lives in France, or knows the country well.

There are a few reasons for the French team being blacker than other European teams. First, France's Caribbean holdings are technically part of France, meaning that players from there don't have to go through any sort of naturalization process to play for France -- they already live in the country. Second, non-white immigration to France has always been higher than in other European countries. Third, soccer is the most popular non-white sport in France, but it's not the most popular sport among whites. Rugby, tennis, and other sports are more popular among whites. Finally, it seems to me that there may indeed be a French "caste system," as they seem to favor black players over similarly performing whites.

I wasn't watching the World Cup as closely in '98, when the French team won, but I don't remember there being an inordinate number of blacks on that winning team from France. Does anyone remember the racial makeup of the French team that won the '98 World Cup?

I think that the makeup was about 50/50 white/black.

The goal scoring in the final game certainly created a perception that there were white stars on the team. In the final game of the Cup, Zidane scored 2 goals and the fast and obviously white Emanuel Petit scored a great goal on a breakaway to put the last nail in Brazil's coffin. The acknowledged stars on the team were Zidane, Petit, Lizarazu and Djorkaeff who all look white to me.Edited by: Vindicator

Djorkeaff was an immigrant from Romania and Zidane is a caucasian arab. So the team really didn't have many French players really either........

Yah I was supprised to hear that Zidane was Algerian. Most North Africans dont look like that.

Is Gianluca Zambrotta really Italian or is he of Arab decent. He doesnt look Italian to me. I know the Italian team has got an mezito from Argentina on the team who didnt even know the Italian national anthem.

I think Zidane is a Kabyle Berber. They are mostly Caucasian but many have mixed with the Arabs. I've seen lots of photos of Kabyles and most of look like Italians or southern French. They converted to Islam after the Arab conquest but are generally quite secular.

Some concern has been expresed in the Media about the lack of success of African and Black teams in 2006. What about France? They have about the same racial profile as the Angolan and the Trinidad teams!

After observing the way the games were officiated , I believe that FIFA
has installed the fix for World Cup 2006. The officials made sure
that there were a few teams of color that advanced past group play, to
keep us interested. Once this was achieved, FIFA constructed the
brackets so all of the teams of color were pitted against one another,
ensuring there can't possibly be too many teams of color advancing to
the finals or semi-finals.

Actually, it is just soccer, and does anyone in the U.S. really care that much?

I care. Not because I have been a big soccer fan - I haven't been until this year. The racial dynamics in soccer are clear and undeniable. For that reason I've found soccer entertaining to watch. Once you start watching and get interested in the details of the game it is like any other game and it becomes addicting. It's also fun to watch because they still allow whites to play, unlike American football.

I also find it interesting that the world's most popular sport is still dominated by whites. What happened to the black take-over? Isn't soccer a sport almost completely dependent on speed and quickness? How can any white possibly compete with blacks that are supposed to be Soooo much faster and more affletic?

Soccer is a true sport of average height and weight athletes with non-steroided bodies. I find it a refreshing change from the black dominated American sports and a perfect caste-buster. How will black supremacists explain it when an all white team wins the World championship in the World's most popular sport?

The "French" team is almost entirely made up of blacks. I counted perhaps two actual European Frenchmen on the team.

Portugal has three blacks on the team.

The German team has one Nigerian-looking member, and one mulatto.

The Italian team appears to be of 100% European stock.

France booted former World Cup champion Brazil from the tournament this year. Brazil and France have won the last three World Cups, dating back to 1994, and Brazil isn't exactly white. Germany did win the World Cup in 1990, and lost to the Brazilians in 2002 in the Championship round.

On an interesting note is this pic of the French team from 2002.

They had four blacks on the team at that time, compared to the twelve or so they have now. That's progress for you.

I see your point WS, but soccer is still far better than american football in terms of the caste system. France is the only real disappointment this year - even so it seems that their most talented players are mostly white (Zidane and Ribery). Here's a photo of the 1990 Brazilian team that is clearly lighter skinned than American football has been in the past 30 or so years.

Hey Poop, I agree with you completely, there is much better representation of whites in soccer than in American football. And it certainly does belie the notion that blacks are such superior athletes, doesn't it?

I suppose my post could be seen to support either viewpoint: blacks are taking over white teams, or whites are still dominating soccer.

Can you repost the pic of the Brazilian team? Edited by: White Shogun

Just of note; in brushing up on soccer history because of the world cup I noticed that there were other stars besides Pele. It seems that in every white dominated sport known to man "the best" is considered by popular media and opinion to be one of darker skin.

soccer = Pele
Lacrosse = Jim Brown
baseball = Willie Mays
Golf = Tiger Woods
boxing = Ali or Louis
Women's tennis = williams sisters
Etc.

I've noticed this phenomenon and after doing my own investigating have come to the conclusion that it is all just typical media caste propaganda.

Pele was great no doubt, but did you know that the all-time leading world cup scorer was a German named Gerd Muller - 14 goals(now held by lazy sand-bagger Ronaldo)? A Frenchmen named Fontaine holds the record for goals scored in one year (1958) with 13!

Pele scored 12 total goals in 4 world cup appearances.

Why do we not know the names of our great white soccer players???

More info on Pele from Wikipedia:

Pelé is in fourth place on the list of all-time top goalscorers in international matches, with 77 goals, and in fourth place behind Ronaldo, Gerd Müller, and Just Fontaine on the list of goalscorers in World Cup matches, with 12 goals. He was part of three World Cup winning teams, although he did not play in the 1962 final due to injury and did not receive a medal. He ended his career with a total of 1,281 goals in 1,363 matches, becoming the highest goalscorer in professional football ever. However, fewer than half of these goals were scored on a professional basis, the rest being scored in the then-amateur Brazilian championship; hence, this record is not recognized by any official body. In his 92 appearances for the Brazilian team, he scored 77 goals.

Does any reasonable sports historian feel that Brown is the greatest lacrosse player ever? Maybe he had the potential, but he played 3 or 4 years of university lacrosse that's it? Also Woods while he has the potential to be the greatest, only the most idol worshipping fans would think his resume is better than Nicklaus at this point.....

No, the reasonable sports historians are posting on caste football. The rest of the so-called experts are spouting off in our faces everyday through the media. Every Jim Brown special segment I have every heard has always had a so-called expert claiming that he was the best Lacrosse player of all-time. Even some caste football posters assumed he was becasue they had heard it so many times. We had a thread on just that subject.

He wasn't the best at his own university and thus didn't even have the potential to be the best. Do a site search and you'll find that we have laid that claim to rest to any "reasonable" thinking person.

Matra1, thanks for the heads up on George Best, a man Pele and Mardonna said was the best ever yet rarely heard of in popular American media. Check out the George Best Video:

KP,

Thanks for the George Best video. A great player. My barber, an Englishman from Manchester (yes there are a few English immigrantsamidst the currentthird-world invasion) glories in the fact that he sawBest live in his heyday. I thinkBest also played a year or two in that US soccer league which proceeded the MLS. Too bad drink and women did him in.

Well, France just beat Portugal, so let's all root for Italy in the Final!As others have pointed out, Italy's starters appear to be all genuineEuropeans. Moreover, Rome is a powerful symbol of Western Unity,and (as others have pointed out), France's teamhas a more non-European flavor.

Viva italia! Forza Azurri!
