Alexander Povetkin has injured his ankle and cannot fight Wlad on Dec 13 as planned.

Wladimir is still planning to fight on Dec 13, and is looking for an opponent.

Povetkin injured

I wonder who his opponent will be now. I think this is a blessing in disguise for Povetkin because he's definetly not ready for Klitschko. He's the third, maybe fourth best heavyweight in the world now. I still see both Klitschko's and possibly Chagaev ahead of him at this point. His main problem with Klitschko would be his lack of height.

Its bad news for Povetkin to be hurt, but good news he doesn't fight Wlad. I wonder who Klitschko will fight now? David Haye or Dimitrenko would probably dump their current fights for a shot at Klitschko.

It won't be either. It will be a lower profile opponent as they won't have time to market the new fight. How about Hasbeen Rockhead.

I did notice Rahman is rated 5th for one of Klitschko's belts. Then again, Chris Arreola would probably also dump his next fight for this. Been a lot of people on boxrec talking about Valuev, but I don't think they could market this one in time. It'll be very interesting to see who they do get.

James Toney should step up for a shot at the Heavyweight Championship.

I would love to see one of them thunderous right hands from Wlad land flush on little T's jaw.

I for one am glad to see this fight has been cancelled. I did not want to see a young white star getting a beating from the white heavyweight champion.

Marble mouth could talk his way into a title fight but the beating he would receive would permanently knock him into a stupor. Bring on the pain.....

I'd be surprised if it's not Hasim Rahman. He seems to be the likely opponent although I would prefer to see Toney get KTFO

Toney is the racist who said a white guy will never be heavyweight champion. I wouldn't mind seeing him get knocked out.

I guess the first question to ask is...why on earth would a used-up, has-been like James Toney deserve a title shot? He's done nothing accept lose to an equally fat Sam Peter (in two fights that were super-boring, like all Toney fights).

However, watching Toney's flabby, amorphous, racist body hit the canvas would bring me great joy. I wouldnt hold my breath for that fight....Toney is a true dumb*ss, but he's not dumb enough to fight a Klitschko.

At least these superior black american affletes have some nice breasts!

Rahman has already been KOed in many embarressing ways. One more wouldnt hurt

. Despite his supposed strength, he rarely KOs anybody (accept one punch against Lennox Lewis). Then again, why does Rahman deserve a title shot either?

Man this picture of Toney just kills me. I love the way he ranted and raved like a little child about "how tough blacks men are." You have to be the biggest clown in the world to fight a pro boxing match in the shape he's in.

Fightnews is reporting that Maskaev has volunteered to fight Klitschko. It seems most people think Rahman will get it. Maskaev is saying he beat Rahman twice, and has only lost once in the past 6 years.

Damn I really hope its not Oleg, I enjoy watching him fight and Wlad would probably end his career.
Im voting for Toney's dumb ass and would love to see black adipose splattered all over the ring. I imagine the fight would probably look a lot like Wlad/Brewster II with a devastating KO at the end of 7.

Dimitrenko has a fight early in Novermber vs. Krasniqi. While he could scrap this fight (which is an eliminator for Wlad I believe) and fight the champ right away, I doubt he would. I don't think either Dimitrenko or his managers would take this fight if offered, because he's not ready.

The way I see it, Rahman, Toney, and Maskaev. To me, Maskaev is most deserving. I'd rather see Wlad beat either Toney of Rahman than beat Maskaev, but Oleg is the best of those three.

I can't remember a time in boxing where there was such a dominant champion as Wlad Klitschko. No matter who he faces he will destroy. There is noone even close to his level at this point. Rahman and Toney would get destroyed. While I love Maskaev he would lose too.

Today's boxers only stand a puncher's chance.It would take a Lennox
Lewis or Corrie Sanders to have a good chance at beating Vlad. His height
and fantastic right hand are just too much for most HW.

There doesn't appear to be any Americans queued up to challenge Vlad in
the upcoming years either. The HW division is pretty much cleaned out.

Wrong! There's Vitali!

Yes, however right now Wladimir has established himself as the best. I have said before that Vitali was and probably still is better than his brother. He's only had one fight since his retirement so it's difficult to say at this point.

I just changed the thread title and first post because it was announced today that Wlad will be fighting Hasim Rahman on Dec 13.

Thanks for the update JD.
