Don't know yet, that was the first update I found after days of looking. Hopefully it's not season ending as he probably would have been placed on IR already if that's the case, but we should know more in the next couple of days. The Eagles also called up a running back from their practice squad in addition to trading for Bigsby so it's hard to be optimistic.

Horrible luck… after all the positive press all summer and how explosive he looked while in the first game….

I fear this will negate any positive momentum he had. I’ve said many times, white running backs get zero leash… one mistake (Laube fumbled his first carry or Steele with two and then relegated to the doghouse and then not making the roster this year) or injury and the opportunity is gone.

Shipley was at least present at practice today. He most likely will miss this week's game and maybe more but it looks like the worst-case scenario of season ending IR may not happen. From Weenieworld:

Will Shipley (ribs) did not practice on Thursday. He was present at practice but did not participate. Even if he is questionable and practices on Friday, it feels likely that the Eagles will shift some workload off his plate with the addition of Tank Bigsby. Shipley is not the miracle desperation FLEX you’re looking for in Week 2.

Shipley (oblique) was a limited participant at practice Thursday. Analysis: Shipley was unable to practice Wednesday due to an oblique injury, so his return to action Thursday is a positive sign. The running back will look to log a full practice Friday before the team faces the Rams on Sunday.

It would probably make sense to let him rest for 1 to 2 games. Many times when players come back too soon they get injured even worse. I know one thing. He should not be used for kickoffs. Look what happened to Jason Sehorn decades ago. Keep Shipley at running back!

He's out for tomorrow's game. I agree that the worst thing he can do right now is come back too quickly before his injury is sufficiently healed.

I'm not know if he was injured running back a kick or as part of the unit running down the field after kicking off to the opponent. Anyone know? Don't recall seeing anything about his injury during that game other than it was announced he was out for the remainder of it. . .

Good news!

Eagles RB Will Shipley (oblique) was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice. Shipley was a full participant for the first time since injuring his oblique in the season opener. He had three carries for 26 yards against the Cowboys in Week 1 and profiles as Saquon Barkley’s primary backup. He is back on fantasy radars as a valuable handcuff as the Eagles play the Bucs in Week 4.

This may not mean anything this early in the week but it's worth monitoring:

Barkley suffered a knee injury at some point in the game and was projected as missing practice on Monday, so his status for Thursday is in question.

AJ Dillon has firmly supplanted Will Shipley as the backup running back. He provides nothing as good as what Will does.

Make it make sense. It doesn’t and that is the rampant racism against whites.
Shipley hurt his ribs returning a kickoff, after having rushed three times for twenty yards in the opening game.

He missed three games and Dillon was plodding at best in his stead - and that was enough for Shipley to get demoted.

Nothing has changed. Even though he had a huge game in the NFC Championship last season, a stellar camp and a great start to his season (3 rushes for over 20 yards), one injury has relegated him to 3rd string and never used. He is now getting the Dylan Laube treatment which is to say he is good enough to return kicks and does that well, but not good enough to snag a few attempts from a back-to-earth Barkley who has mightily struggled this year.

Shipley did good in his most recent game with his opportunities.

AJ Dillon is done, they only utilized Bigsby and Shipley, and he outperformed Bigsby which is a step in the right direction.

I wouldn't say "mightily," but he's clearly not what he was last year. His average carry is 3.9 yards, which is slightly below the usual league average of 4.0. And looking back at his past five seasons, that's pretty much his norm:

2022: 4.4
2023: 3.9
2024: 5.8
2025: 3.9

Pedestrian numbers except for '24. So Barkley has never been a megastar other than last year when it came together for him and the offense. He currently has 579 yards rushing through 9 games compared to 2,005 last year in 16 games even though he's still seeing bellcow usage. As a lot of people thought here and elsewhere, 2024 was an outlier not some kind of new late career norm. The Eagles as a whole look sluggish on offense, both running and passing. In that 10-7 "thriller" against Green Bay, Barkley didn't look as quick as he used to, something I've noticed all season. He's peaked as a runner and is now in decline. I'm glad Will finally saw some touches in Week 10, hopefully it continues the rest of the season and begins accelerating soon.

Barkley and McCaffrey both had around 3.5 yards per carry.
A couple games ago Barkley ripped off a 75 yarder which drove his average per carry up about half of a yard.....CMC is lucky to get a 10 yard carry. Hopefully they can get things right today......
