Just out of curiousity, why is Vince Young referred to as "Radio" around here? I don't get it. Is it some kind of inside joke?

Anyway, it was good to see the "annointed one" stink it up like usual. I would take Rivers any day over Young

Nice job Rivers and coach Turner getting the playoff win!

Haynesworth with two costly penalties. One a 15 yarder and another turning a 3rd and 5 into a 3rd and 1 for the Bolts. Thanks Albert!

As for Radio...there you go Titan's fans, you're QB of the future. Your coach and owner have hitched their wagon to a dud. You dumped an aging Mcnair(can't really blame you), you dumped Volek (stupid move...say doesn't he play with the Chargers now?) and passed on Lineart.

Don,

I agree with your analysis pretty much. However, that Jacksonville team is pretty rugged. I think they're going to present a difficult nut to crack for NE.
I've never seen Gerrard play. What do you think of him. Is he another V. Young, or is it another case of the overall team making him look better than he is?

There wasn't a post game discussion. After showing the same goofy commercials over and over again they apparently ran out of time for the wrap up. How could they be so stupid as to prefer Radio over Rivers?Based on what? Unreal! Did Young attempt any passes over20- 25 yards? The Titans passing schemeis very primitive. Edited by: Bart

Tom, I think he's played quite well, but still the Jags are much like the typical team with a black QB only better -- strong running game and solid defense. I haven't watched Garrard a lot because I can't stand Jacksonville, but he too seems a lot more comfortable with a short and medium range passing game rather than having to make plays down the field. That showed against the Steelers in the 4th quarter last night when the Jags squandered a huge lead thanks in no small part to Garrard's play.

I posted last week that Iwas looking forward to a possible Jax-New England matchup in the playoffs because it's the closest thing to a racially polarizing contest possible within the very narrow confines of the NFL's racial policy -- the blackest team in the league against one of the two least black, the Colts being the other. (The Chargers are also one of the least black teams.)Should be a very good game to watch. Go Patriots! Edited by: Don Wassall

Young averaged 4.8 yards per attempt.

Rivers averaged 9.7

Young was awarded this nickname here, as Matt said, after the retarded character in the film of the same name because he scored a 6 on the Wonderlic. Edited by: White Shogun

I think Garrard is much better than Young. He isn't setting the passing game on fire, but he isn't making a lot of mistakes, either (fewest INT in the league.) The Jags are formidable because of their D and run game, and a quarterback who doesn't usually cost his team the game with a costly fumble or INT at the wrong time.

Of all the black quarterbacks in the league, if I had to take one it would probably be Garrard, even over McNabb at this point in his career.

Garrard is much better than Young in the sense that he's a game manager that doesn't turn the ball over and won't lose games for you. He isn't great, but he doesn't need to be because the Jags are built around a strong running game and a strong defense. He's essentially a black version of Jay Fiedler (during his years with the Dolphins) except that Garrard turned the ball over much less than Jay did.

at the end of the Chargers vs. Vince "all he does is sometimes win" Young and the Tennessee "all they do is kick field goals and punt" Titans, the announcers said that the Titans needed more players that can make big plays...

perhaps they need to hike the balls directly to the receivers so they can get some yardage. or vince young can be a decoy quarterback. or better yet a full-quarterback who blocks for the real quarterback, sometimes runs it, and, if the ball slips out of his hands, is credited for a pass...

perhaps by "big play players" the announcers want Rob "all I do is score all my team's points" Bironas to be able to run the ball and pass the ball and ice down Vince Young after the game. wouldn't want "white skin privilege" to get out of other jobs other than kicking field goals.

The Jags only would have tied the game with their last field goal if the Steelers hadn't failed on two conversion attempts. The one they tried after being penalized certainly seemed like too much of a risk. The play calling and clock management wasn't very good during their last possession. I'm wondering if Tomlinson iscatching any heat for this in Pittsburgh from the press or fans?

So I'm reading two articles on yesterday's games. The first one is headlined "Manning Finally Lives Up To His Stature, Name." One would think the headline refers to a 12-year, 30-something veteran rather than a young quarterback who has led his team into the playoffs for three consecutive seasons. Finally??? In fact, further down it's mentioned that big brother Peyton didn't win his first playoff game until his sixth season.

It's not like the Giants were some juggernaut the past few seasons that would have been a Super Bowl contender except for their starting QB. Eli probably won't ever be as good as Peyton, but he's developed well and should be in the top third of starting NFL QBs for the next decade-plus. Not a bad return at all on a first round pick.

I'm also glad to see Saint Tiki Barber revealed as an over-rated fool (again) when he said during the week that Eli "can be had." His vendetta against Eli has been immature and unprofessional, but then again this beloved figure (beloved because he's a black who can actually speak well and comes across as friendly) had a record of selfishness and causing discord as a player.

Then there's the other headline -- "Young Gets Little Help on Offense"

LenDale White was this weekend's leading rusher, although that's not saying much.

Haha, you know you're fat, slow, and unathletic looking when even the drunken white fans and super-biased announcers make light of a black RB's weight.

Seriously, Lendale white is no more an RB than the overweight slobs that love to watch the NFL. Without question, the average fat, out-of-shape American pig could run behind the Titans OL. I saw him run the 40 at the combine....he needed a bra to hold his C-Cup breasts from giving him two black eyes

After watching Sportscenter, Rome is Burning, Around the Horn and PTI and not one negative word about Vince Young's performance, I can honestly say that I now know what really happened in the NFL this past weekend.

The Jags are now being offered as the team to beat the Patriots, the Chargers coach is a lucky moron, Holmgren used to coach in Green Bay, Tony Romo was in Cancun with J. Simpson, Eli Manning is now due for a bad game, Vince Young was hobbled on a bad leg and finally, according to Jeff Fischer, the Titans lost because their field goal kicker missed a field goal and they had a roughing the passer penalty. Poor Titans.

The greatest safisfaction I get from watching the NFL is watching Vince Young fail miserably and the confounding look on Jeff Fisher's mug after after every loss, especially in the playoffs. I suspect they give 'Radio' one more season to show he can win during the season and the playoffs. He will fail, then be traded to the Raiders to show J. Russell ropes on being a 'winning' quaterback. One scatter brain teaching a another scatter brain!

Never in my life have I seen a team with a QB or offense as miserable as the Titans...and still make it to the playoffs!

Radio barely threw a touchdown EVERY OTHER game this season! That has to be record for a team in the playoffs. If it was, the media would be too embarressed to say so. They wouldnt want to ever portray a black american male to appear foolish, weak, unathletic, or uncool in any way.

After that pathetic showing (if you can call it that) by Young in the playoffs, I'm not sure Vince will be the media darling he's been since being drafted (over Lienart and Cutler). I'd say they give him two more years to suck up the field in 16-week intervals....then suddenly-caste Jeff Fischer will probably trade for another washed-up black QB like McNabb. That is, if Radio's many mistake-ridden losses dont get him fired first

.

The most comical part of this idiotic story is that with Volek and Bennett, the Titans might actually challenge NE and IND this season.

Either way, anyone with eyes and common sense knows the Titans will do terrible with Young for many years. This should be very entertaining

How has the American media reacted to Vince Youngs miserable performance? Are they making up all kinds of excuses, just ignoring it or are they actually waking up to Young's lack of QB ability? Edited by: TheEnglishman

I just watched the replay of the Pittsburgh-Jacksonville game from last Saturday. Actually, I just saw the last 5 minutes of that game. It was rather painful to watch. Jacksonville's receivers dropping easy balls. David Garrard's inability to accurately throw a football 5 yards. Pittsburgh's safety's pitiful attempt at tackling Garrard. Mike Tomlin's poor play calling. Well, Mr. Rooney be careful what you wish for. The 'Rooney Rule' and all your other efforts at affirmative action in the NFL have come back to bite you. Your new black coach just played a major role in your team being ousted from the playoffs. Not only that, you lost to a really bad team.

I cannot wait to watch New England demolish Jacksonville this Saturday. Jack Del Rio, just leave Matt Jones in Foxboro. You don't want him, let Belichick have him. Plus, it really is fun to watch your buffoon receiving corps drop passes and proceed to act like fools. The circus is in Jacksonville. Last show this Saturday.

As usual, another great, spot-on post from stonewall.

I totally agree, Mike Tomlin is one of the many reasons for the Steelers' heartbreaking loss to Jacksonville, an obviously inferior team in almost every category.

The mushhead sportwriters in america are "predicting" a Jacksonville win AT NE! How the hell could anyone figure that to happen? Blacksonville could barely put a pass rush on Big Ben with a makeshift, sumo OL...the Pats OL has been out-of-this-world good this season.

Not to mention the NE WR corps the Jags crappy pass defense will have to cover. Those bums (aside from Rashean Mathis, who has been a good player for a couple years) couldnt even cover Nate Washington
smiley36.gif
and Hines Ward! Ward is decent...but he's no Welker or Moss (or even Stallworth).

This could be a rather humbling loss for the Jags. Or maybe the gay white sportswriters know the "caste-fix" is in....not even a crooked ref or fixed outcome could help the Jags on saturday night

Sorry for this being over a week late, but, regarding the Titans-Chargers game, did anyone notice that Ladanian Tomlinson's "second effort" game winning TD should not have been allowed?

He made his big dive, got hit and knocked backward, was clearly going to fall completely backwards, then all of a sudden, gets pushed forward - plain as day! - by one of his blockers, so that he tips forward just enough to lean over the goal line in mid-air, to get the TD call.

It's similar to footage of someone trying cross a small river or stream by pole vaulting over it. You know, they plunge the end of the pole into the water, go up and across, but, didn't quite get enough speed or momentum behind it, they get about halfway across, but then lose all the momentum, and only fall backwards? That's all I could think of when I saw the replays.

Naturally, all the announcers say is the usual "A great second effort by Tomlinson",etc, etc. BS!!!! Nothing more than another case Blackie gets away with pushing / helping a fellow "bruhthuh" over the goal line.( Reggie Bush against Notre Dame,2005 anyone? ) Edited by: Weltner

I can't remember, did the Titans' head coach Jeff Fisher challenge the call? Was it reviewed by instant replay? If it was reviewed, that's the final word. It would be on the replay official to reverse the call on the field.
