Russian heavyweight Sergei Kuzmin made his debut yesterday scoring a first round knockout.27 years old and was European champion as an amateur.I think he will have a similar career to Pulev and climb the ranks quickly.
Lucas Browne stopped late sub Julias Long today. The win itself really is nothing as the "Towering Infero" burned down to the ground years ago. It was fun to watch the ko though....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leEryZl8IW4

I am slightly worried about this pedded up athony joshua we are being force fed over in england. Are there any white heavyweight propects from easter europe that had a good amateur career that fell under the raydar. When klitschko retires we need white propects that can stop him.

Anthony Joshua is probably the best black heavyweight prospect in the world and has looked beastly so far, even Wlad is talking him up saying he's the best prospect he's seen but i think there are question marks. His physique for one. He's built like a bodybuilder which may be a disadvantage long term.Over heavy built muscles affects punch motion and rythm and as a result Joshua has looked a bit stiff at times. It can also lead to stamina problems as them muscles will tighten up in the later rounds which was always the issue with Frank Bruno and even Wlad himself earlier in his career.THere are rumors David Price knocked him out in sparring so his chin has also not been tested.

Speaking of Price who lost to Teper recently he really does have monster power but unfortunatelty doesn't have the confidence or chin to match it.

Joshua is the best young heavyweight in boxing today. Wilder is the best hw in the U.S. The U.S. does not produce heavyweights liked they use to , since HBO and the American press decided the heavyweight divison was not as good because there were not any black champions holding any belts.HBO,led by Larry Merchant seem intent on destroying the hw division, for one reason only,no black hw could win the belt from the Klitschkos. Suddenly the division was boring and lacking in excitement. I thought hw boxing was very exciting, it made my day to see the ref counting to ten over some over hyped black . That is just the way I see it.

Travis Kaufmann was probably jobbed over the weekend against Cris Arreola. It looked like he out worked the faded ex contender. Neither looked like they could be a threat any of the current titlists, but a win would set up Kaufmann for a bigger cross roads bout. Kaufmann may get a rematch and will get another PBC cross roads bout as this loss was debatable and razor thin.

Ps to the last posters Joshua wasin a classic scrap against fellow Black British prospect Dylan Whyte . The fight was something out Saturday western triple feature where the marshall takes lead to give lead and in the end of the day beats the villain.

After the fight Joshua admitted he wasn't ready for the title holders and would look to fight Chisora who is British version of Arreola.

Yes, Arreola received another gift decision, Kaufmann deserved to win.

The referee gave Arreola a rest when he was exhausted and hurt, and he came back in the later rounds, but I thought it was too little, too late.

Still, Kaufmann was in disappointingly poor shape, and he became tired in the late rounds.

Honestly, Kaufman can't be much losing to that sloppy, clusterfock, heavy bag Arreola.

Travis Kaufmann lost another decision to ancient Amir Mansour.

Again he was gassed late and out worked by another older heavyweight.

While the score cards were close it wasn't really close in my eyes. This should be the end of any serious thoughts of him making a run in the division.

It's pay cheque fighting time from now on out. He needs to be protected by his dad or he could get his head taken off by a young up and coming contender as promoters tend to throw guys that aren't going anywhere but can give good fights to the wolves.

Adam Kownacki might be a prospect to watch as he ko'd the "Pin" today on national television. On the surface he looks out of shape and rather slow but he hits hard and places his punches well. As for Szpilka even his trainer talked about this match being a retirement match if he couldn't beat the unproven Kownacki.

Just noticed your post, WIR, after I started a thread on Kownacki. I think he looked good enough to deserve his own thread anyway.

Nathan Gorman is now 16 and 0 and beat tricky journeyman Kevin Johnson earlier today, his up coming domestic level showdown with hyped Daniel Dubois will tell more about both prospects than any of his previous wins, but he is somebody that deserves to be on this boards radar.

Yesterday was a ceremonial passing of the torch for White heavyweights. Andy Ruiz battered a passive Alexander Dimitrenko and caused him to surrender on his stool after the end of the 5th round. I remember hearing the useless PBC announcers stating that the win for Ruiz was a good win, on the surface it looked decent as Dimitrenko only had 4 losses on his resume but all of the losses were against ranked guys and most of them were in recent fights. If he fights on it will be as an opponent for prospects and contenders on the comeback trail.

Dave Allen was battered for the most part against Lucas Browne but ko'd Browne with one hard liver shot. Allen who will never be a champion will get a crossroads fight against a Chisora type for decent money. As for Browne see the Dimitrenko scenario for the rest of his career. He can be trotted out to various locales with a decent record and the promoters can put former WBA champion on the poster but his career on even the fringes of the world level are over.....

Nathan Gorman has his showdown this weekend against Daniel Dubois, it seems like every portly fighter or long shot is trying to get some of the Ruiz mojo for their fights, on the surface this fight has similarities to the upset last month but Dubois has never really fought anybody who was there to win. The winner of Dubois vs Gorman could be in line for a British clash with a Chisora type or the winner of Allen vs Price.

Otto Walin who hasn't been mentioned on here has a crossroads bout with White ethnic Mexican BJ Flores a good win will get him better bouts against live opponents.

PS, Gorman is something like 3rd or 4th cousins with Tyson Fury, in small insular communities many people are distant cousins, I remember many Jewish people in high school who were distant relatives with a famous comedian or actor in a similar way.....

PS 2, Wallin vs Flores was cancelled due to Flores failing his physical, due to privacy no reason was given. Flores is a part time broadcaster so he may give the reason publicly in the future. On a side note fat Jermaine Franklin huffed and puffed his way to a bogus split decision win. He was the A side of this prospect card. The way he looked he will put no fear into any manager putting their fighter against him.

Usyk vs Sponge should be a good matchup and a good way for Usyk to test himself at heavyweight. Sponge had a very successful kickboxing career which ended when he threw a leg kick at the great Gokhan Saki and snapped his tib/fib, same as what happened to Anderson Silva vs Weidman several years ago. In any event, Sponge is a good boxer, but I don't see him as an elite. If Usyk can school him, and I'm sure he can, it will be a good sign for him moving forward.

-If you want some good kickboxing fights, check Gokhan Saki on youtube. He is a wrecking ball of a puncher. He is Turkish-Dutch according to his wiki page and looks completely white to me.

Magomedrasul Majidov has his pro debut today, he will be 33 in roughly two weeks so he needs to be moved fast, but he is former 3 time world amateur champion and an Olympic bronze medalist so the talent is there and he is a natural heavyweight so size won't be an issue. His pro career will be interesting, I don't recall any 30ish "pro" amateur fighters ever winning a world belt, but making money supersedes titles and a career arc similar to Ortiz wouldn't be too bad.....https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magomedrasul_Majidov

Also Otto Wallin has a dream fight with Tyson Fury, he's been hand picked because of his glossy record but as we saw 3 months ago nobody can be overlooked if Wallin can lose in "good way" he will get future 6 figure fights out of this and if he can pull off the miracle and crack Fury's chin he will become an instant multi-millionaire.........

Fury survives scare against Wallin. Gets UD but got cut up bad during fight.
He looked like s%$t against Wallin, once the cut happened he couldn't see from that side and he had to fight a fight he really isn't capable of doing at a world class level. He looked like how he looked when he fought the flabby McDermott in his prospect days.

Also he might have gotten a house decision to not be examined again as he had to have a cut worse than when it started.

Wallin "won" by losing "well" so he will probably get a comeback fight of a top guy or maybe a crossroads fight against a streaking contender type. He banked a few future 6 figure purses off of this showing.

I thought Wallin boxed very well. The scorecards were much too wide, I think a draw or a 115-113 win for either Fury or Wallin would have been fair. Wallin had Fury hurt in the 12th round, Fury had to desperately hold to survive.

Wallin clearly won most of the early rounds, including the rounds before the cut. Fury fought with greater urgency (more aggressively) after he was cut.
