Wow lots of points. The thing about brothers is absolutely true. My older and younger brothers have and will kick some serious butt if needed! I've always been around strong willed white guys that don't necessarily look for fights, but will not back down if needed, and would win 90% of fights they engaged in.

About the whites and sports, I totally disagree with the thing about theory made by the sociologist. To paraphrase another famous line quoted by JC, there's lies, damn lies, and sociological theory! There's no good logical reason for whites to be lacking in the higher level of three sports: football, basketball, and sprinting. The theories about "blacks needing college scholarships so they work harder to get sports scholarships" is bunk. The vast majority of college scholarships go to whites. In college, there would be a few times a year when all the student athletes would assemble. Out of more than 100 football players, about 60% were white (I'm sure Whites got about half the fb scholarhips). Blacks where just over half the basketball (but probably got 9 or 10 of 12 scholarships), and track had a number of sprinters, but the T&F team was still majority white. Every other sport, out of twenty to thirty members had 3 or 4 blacks MAX! Some had none! And those sports all get 10 to 15 scholarships. When the athletes assembled, you would see how white they really where. And this was a big time college with a well renowned athletic program.

The theories of whites knowing they can be doctors, lawyers, or astronauts are simply unfounded. Whites are not willing to forgo money, fame, and fortune. They want all that just as much as blacks. If anything, it's easier for a minority who really wanted to be an engineer, lawyer, etc. because they have lots of advocacy groups that would fund their education and help them every step of the way. No such groups for whites who seek that.

Whites in the suburbs can and do compete against blacks and compete well as frequently noted on this site. But, as others have noted, even the coaches of the white teams will say "they may be bigger, stronger, faster, and better athletes, but will be beat them with our heads." The one true thing about football is that once a high school team is 50% black, within two years it will be 90% black. It's not that whites can't compete, it's because their parents don't have the fortitude to keep their kids playing football, and the kids just "go with the flow" and play soccer or lacrosse, which will still be nearly 100% white even at the same school.

Young whites today have no idea how much things have changed, as far as the way whites act around blacks and all the fear they have of them now.</div>

Funny thing happend to me the other day. Me and a few of my friends were throwing a football around before a pick-up game and i made a great jumping catch. So my friend (who knows nothing about castefootball) says "dude, you jumped like a black guy" and i glared at him and said "what so white guys cant jump high?" and he just kinda looked at me with a wierd expression and didnt say anything. Not as good as some of the other stories on here but i wanted to share lol.

I agree with Electric Slide. How many people can be a top athlete and have the ability to be a doctor or engineer.Not many. There is a much wider gap in monetary rewards for pro athletes today compared to the 50's thru 70"s, so I think if players think they have a chance to play pro ball they will give it a try. There are a ton of whites playing football in the suburbs. What difference does it make if they live on a farm or not? If the guy who wrote the article says whites can't compete against blacks ,then he is within the mainstream and anti-caste.

To add to what Charlie said at the end of his excellent post re: boredom, I also feel that whites have a deeper sense of fairness than other races. Hence, there are too many things in organized sports, that despite rules that are supposed to make things fair, that make the games unfair. There are too many outside factors that can effect the outcome of a sporting event. Incompetent or biased refs, judges, coaches, etc rob the games of integrity and make it more of a popularity contest or sociological experiment rather than a true test of skill or teamwork.

It makes sense then given the twin factors of boredom and desire for fairness that whites would turn to sports like extreme games, motocross, etc. The 'drama' of some sports, and I mean drama as in drama of a gaggle of women gossiping about each other, is just not worth it to some people.

I remember this very well, as I used to listen to KMOX St. Louis during that period. I never have heard this Charlie Johnson story and don't believe it. Johnson had white wideouts only during his time on the Cardinals, Sonny Randle, Bobby Joe Conrad, Billy Joe Gambrell, Dave Williams. Jackie Smith was the tight end.

There were two themes in the SI story concerning racism on the 1967 Cardinals. One was that a racist defensive coach would not use enough black players on defense. The second was that several of the Cardinal veterans were white racists.

The Cardinals were unusual in that both starting cornerbacks (Pat Fischer was one) were white. I believe they had only one black starter on defense for most of 1967. In 1968, both cornerbacks were black as well as the middle linebacker. Pat Fischer was traded to the Redskins and had several good years.

Over the next few years, the Cardinals traded the supposedly racist white veterans. Others were asked to retire.

Another factor for a white athlete is a coaches bias towards a player if he is competing for a spot against a black person on a team...

Well, I had a long and brilliant effing post on post-WWII white affluence and the effect of huge high schools as factors in the "demise" of the white athlete but it disappeared into cyberspace so you cats lucked out.

What are you guys worried about? According to Hemmingway, there are only three sports: Mountain climbing, bull fighting, and auto racing. The rest are children's games played by adults. I agree with this statement
White people dominate the three real sports. I have lost interest in football basketball and baseball.
