I avoid the movie theatre, i like watching at home with some good protein food like steak and eggs. Perhaps some Whiskey too if the boys are back in town (friends). I like Fight Club, its a lesson on regaining one's masculinity and as a result, one's freedom from the shackles of modern office worker life.

If you’re looking for a feel good movie that you can watch with teens even. “Peanut butter falcon “ I thought was excellent.

It’s tough to find movies that I like and that my family will like as well so I figured I’d mention.

Last of the Mohicans and brave heart were great, don’t get me wrong, but only so much teenage girls will sit through.

Oh yeah, that was a good movie. I kind of got my arm, twisted into watching it with the fam but ended up really enjoying it!

Have any of you guys viewed this film and if you did what is your opinion on it?

Old thread, but if anyone has watched Dune 2, I'm sure you can see it is one of the greatest films of this century, and I can't wait for the third installment(assuming of course that Hollywood shenanigans and politics don't ruin it)

There is a movie out called "The Shamrock Spitfire". World War II Movie about one of the finest fighter pilots to ever fly! You guys
might want to check it out. I'm going to and it's looks like how movies used to look in the good old days!

Sounds like the Irish equivalent of the Tuskegee airmen at first glance

It's a 100 percent white movie. No comparison except for he is a fighter pilot. Unlike the Tuskegee Airmen he was actually one of the very
best in all of World War II.

A good movie that I recently re watched is Gran Torino.. Clint Eastwood stars in it and the storyline should resonate with most posters. It is arguably Eastwood's best film.

I knew very little about this film but I agree. It’s a very compelling story and well acted.

Speaking of older World War II Movies, this one I've been told is very good. It's called Hitler: The Rise of Evil. It talks about his
rise to power and the transformation of a nation both good and bad. It's from 2003 but worth the watch even though it's long.
It will remind many both in Europe and North America about what's going on these days. Not a fan of the man but I have to
admit that he called out communism for what it was. If nothing else that is a warning for the world. Yes he did evil things but this
is also addressed in countless movies. For any World War II Historians, it's worth a watch.

I've always had great respect and admiration for Helen Keller, who became deaf and blind at the age of 19 months yet learned to read, write and speak, inspiring people all over the world before dying in 1968 at the age of 87. Amazing, to me she fits the definition of a great American.

The 1962 movie The Miracle Worker is about how Anne Sullivan, who came from a horrible background, living and moving through various insane asylums in the rundown areas of NYC in the late 19th century, struggled with Helen, who was from a well-to-do Alabama family and was basically like a wild untrained animal, and eventually got through to her. Even for a movie that old it has some intense scenes. Anne Bancroft won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of Sullivan, and Patty Duke won Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Helen Keller.

I always thought Anne Bancroft was Jewish. Being married to Mel Brooks certainly didn't hurt that impression. But she was Italian, born Anna Maria Louisa Italiano. She is probably best known as Mrs. Robinson in The Graduate, the groundbreaking 1967 movie that helped usher in the counterculture in Hollywood productions and the U.S. itself.

Patty Duke was tremendous as the young Helen Keller. She was 16 in 1962 but looked much younger in the movie. She was an American icon for a while, later in the 1960s having a popular TV sitcom called The Patty Duke Show in which she played identical cousins (!). She starred in the 1967 camp film Valley of the Dolls, but her adult life went downhill and she passed in 2016 at the relatively young age of 69.

TCM just featured a day of Anne Bancroft films in their Summer Under the Stars. The Miracle Worker was one.

Patty Duke's son, Sean Astin, played the title role in the iconic film Rudy.

Yes, that's why I mentioned it. Was riding my stationary bike and as often happens ended up watching something with value from the past rather than the garbage that's on most of the one thousand other channels I for some reason still pay for (and that have mastered the art of going to seemingly endless commercial breaks at exactly the same time).

TCM is always worth checking to see what's being shown. A lot of the time it's movies I'm not interested in but they cover the whole gamut including showing silent films from the 1910's and '20s. Also, they're uncut and commercial free.

I always thought Bancroft was older than her age too. When she played Mrs. Robinson I thought she was in her 40's but was in her mid 30's she smoked cigarettes until the end of her life and around the time her career was winding down looked a good decade older than she was. She had a bit role in one my favorite romance films, Great Expectations.

I never knew she was married to Mel Brooks until I read about it on Wikipedia. Brooks like many Jews seems to be like the character he played in the "2000 year old man" and is still alive today at 98. I never cared for his Jewish humor much but he was able to poke fun of tragic events in Jewish history that no gentile ever could without critical blow back.

As for movies Godfather I and II are two movies I could take with me to an underground bunker.

For the Basketball Fans here. A good movie back in 2020 is called Blackjack, The Jackie Ryan Story. I just watched it not too long
ago and I really liked it. I think many guys here will like this movie and it's based on the true life story of Jackie Ryan.

I’m finally watching the Netflix special on Johnny Football. Man what a story. Definitely an immense waste of talent, but ya almost feel bad for the guy. Just one of the boys in a lot of ways! The human condition, life ain’t always perfect.
