Just an FYI on the possiblereason Thigpen is the number 3 QB and Pat White is number 2.

The NFL has a weird rule: If your number 3 QB comes into a game, you cannot put your Number 1 or Number 2 QB back into the game untill the 4th quarter. I know Miami likes to use Pat White in their Wildcat package. Going into a game, if Pat White were listed on the depth chart as the Number 3 QB, if the Dolphins pulled Henne on a wildcat play, put White in his place, Henne would not be allowed back in the game untill the 4th quarter. The Eagles do the same thing with Vick, listing Kolb as their 3rd QB and Vick as 2nd.

you are missing one key item in your analysis. this rule applies with the "emergency" 3rd quarterback. an emergency 3rd quarterback is a loophole for NFL teams to circumvent the limits on game-day active roster limits. if a team chooses to only have two active quarterbacks on their game-day roster, they are allowed an "emergency" quarterback. that is when your above mentioned rule applies.

however!

a team may choose to dress as many quarterbacks as they wish on their game-day active roster, and in some cases have dressed as many as 4. this, obviously, is unusual. but if a team has, say, 3 active quarterbacks on their game-day roster, then they can use them and substitute them in any way they choose ... just as they do with other positions.

i just thought i'd clarify that.

as for the Thigpen-White position battle ...in addition to being a superior passer, NFL coaches say thatThigpen is much faster than White (despite some internet sites claiming differently). and, despite being a pass-first quarterback, Tyler ran for over 1,600 yards and 13 touchdowns whilst in college. and last year for the horrible Chiefs, Thigpen ran for 3 touchdowns and nearly 400 yards in just 11 games.

in myopinion,no matter the circumstances having White atop Thigpen on the depth chart is a stupid move.

Brad Hoover took a snap from the wildcat formation for the Panthers against the Saints today. Comedian Brian Billick said we can't call that the wildcat "¦ maybe the elephant, rhino, or pregnant wildcat.

Tim Tebow might be a good fit for Carolina. I tell ya though, Matt Moore of the Carolina Panthers looks like he has some potential, they might decide to ride with him.

Thanks for clarifying. I did know what you said, about them being able to dress as many QBs as they wish. I know for special teams purposes, the likelyhood that someone other than the QB will get hurt, etc, are reasons why a team usually will only have 3 QBs on their gamedayroster.
As far as the Thigpen-White position battle, I totally agree. If a team didnt want to use Thigpen as a "real" QB, he is absolutely perfect for the Wildcat; maybe more so than any other QB in the league. I remember watching him in KC andlookingup his rushing stats...talk about "fast" and "elusive"(add athletic to that list!)

On an aside, did anybody notice Darren Sproles' YPC for the season? 3.6 YPC! Very similar to Brian Leonard's rookie year(except Leonard played with a bad line and a bad all around team). Yet, Hester(nor Leonard for that matter)cangeta whiff!?!

Knowshown Moreno, 3.9 YPC. I was thinking:you could let someone pick any4full games from Moreno's rookie season (soyou get to the pick the4 best out of 16 choices) and compare them to the4 games (3 starts and2 half games)that Hillis was allowed to start at halfback during his rookie season. It doesnt even seem fair to do this! You figure Moreno vs Hillis:aHB 1st rd pickvs FB picked in the 7th round, a guy who had 16 chances vs a guy who had 4.But yet if you look at Moreno's best4 vs Hillis' ONLY 4(im not even including his big receiving game at FB!)... add them up, and you'll see its much closer than it should be, in fact I think Hillis wins!! Could you imagine if you had 16 "Hillis at halfback" weeks to choose from?!?! THERE WOULD BE NO CONTEST!!!!!!Its so frustrating!

also, if anyone else is watching this national embarrassment that is called the Jets-Bengals "contest," i feel your pain.

for the Bengals, Carson Palmer finished the first half going a woeful, 1-11 (that's not a typo!) for 10 yards and an interception. of the 10 incompletions by Palmer (if i counted correctly) 7 were drops by the negro "phenoms" that make up his so-called "receiving" corps. the interception was the result of the Bengalwide "receiver" Andre Caldwellstopping on his route and allowing the defensive back to simply stand there and catch the ball. even devout negrophile Chris Collinsworth lambasted the pitiful "effort."

two more drops were negated by penalties.

Cincy finished the half with an "explosive" 7 yards of total offense. HAHAHA!!

According to Yahoo sports Welker might have an ACL tear. If that is the case, will he be ready to go for the start of the 2010 season. I sure hope so, as he is such an important figure for our cause. At least Edelman is waiting in the wings.

did anyone else see Brian Leonard chase down Jets' free safety Kerry Rhodes? it was like Leonard was shot out of a cannon!

Rhodes, who was in the midst of returning a fumble by Cincy's quarterback O'Sullivan and had just been creditied by Collinsworth as scoring,"This is going to be an easy touchdown for Rhodes," was hauled down by the fleet-footed Leonard as if the Jets defensive back was running in cement shoes.

nary a word was said about Leonard's speed or his swift tracking down of the "playmakuh."

also, Leonard has 1 carry for 8 yards ... it was a pointless carry, though. as it was on 3rd-and-16.

From the Eagles game, it appears that OLB Chris Gocong has lost his starting job for no reason whatsoever. The team claimed they wanted to keep him out of the lineup to put another linebacker to defend the athletic Vernon Davis at SF a few weeks back.

He hasn't been in the lineup since. In fact, he's only on special teams, and has not seen a snap since the week before San Francisco. Because, you know, the defense is just so much better without those pesky "nonathletic" linebackers.

Apparantly, Gocong didn't fit the mold of Linebackers Philly likes to employ. He just doesn't have that dark skin that somehow makes his fellow linebackers "soopa affletic."

I have a feeling that Cincy is going to get blown out next week. And Brian will then re start the meloncoly dream of fighting for a spot on the roster in the summer. Then he makes it over some new supposed soopa affelet. Then he show cases his considerable skills during preseason games, justifying major playing time. The regular season begins and the "white rb getting screwed" starts all over again. Here at CF we point out the clear injustices and the DWFs begin their epic tailgating/affelet whoreship as well, by over drinking and consuming massive amounts of salted snacks and pork. Then listen to Uncle Cris's ramblings thinking its gospel. Oh Lord help us.

I guess if your making over 250 grand its worth it. But in the grand scheme of the NFL and what it means to whites its a disaster.

The NFL is a social engineering/jobs program entity. I tried to watch Cincy/Jets but it was too painful watching those affletic supermenchs drop balls while Brian and Danny saw nothing. At least the Pack won convincingly against the very dark and very much a clusterbuck Cards team. Though one thing McCarthy is platooning the FBs and this week it was Halls turn to sit in favor of a 5th round athlete with no hands.

I see Jacob Hester was inactive yesterday with a shoulder injury.How did that happen on specialty teams a place where guys like Hester and Hass have no business being.The long expired Michael Bennett made an appearance and I wonder if he will replace Hester in the playoffs even if Jacob is ready.What is it with Norv Turner and his small running backs he needs a runner like Hester to move the pile.I suppose in the upcoming draft Norv will draft a black superman RB while Hester sits on the bench and rots.Too frustrating.

Larry Johnson (formerly of the Chiefs and several police lineups) actually got several carries for the Bengals yesterday as the second-string tailback.

Johnson was unemployed on the streets just a few days ago, was noticeably slow and completely out of shape, and had no possible way of having learned the playbook ... yet, he got 9 carries while Brian Leonard was relegated to picking up blitzes on 3rd downs.

i want to kick some people in the nuts.

Johnson has been with the Bengals for almost two months. He was signed to be the number three back behind Benson and rookie Bernard Scott. That was all the evidence needed (as if any was needed before that) to prove that Leonard was not going to be anything but an occasional third down back.

I ended up losing that championship game on the last play of regulation time in the last regular season game when Brett Favre threwthatgreatTD pass to Sidney Rice on 4th down against the Bears with just a few seconds left. My opponent had Rice and I lost by 3 points.

But that wasn't a CF league. Of those two leagues, the Riggins League, in its fifth season was won by my nephew. The Lambert League, in its third season was won by Gi-15, who has over a thousand posts here but hasn't posted for quite a while.Edited by: Don Wassall
