I voted Hillis and Peterson, but I thought for awhile about voting for Vick. I don't know how many people would vote for a dog-killer against Hillis/Rodgers, but it's probably a lot more than I want to believe.

I've also favored deep-sixing whoever you don't like as early as possible. While it might not create as favorable of a match up as you want, I prevents the possibility of your least favored person actually winning. That being said I think Hillis will beat Rodgers, Vick will beat Peterson, and Hillis will top Vick in the finals. In the finals there will be too many regular white dudes voting who can only dream of doing what Hillis is, thus why they will vote for him. Plus, Hillis is really good on the game, and there's no "racism" in play calling on it which prevents him from being utilized properly. I'm calling it I think Hillis will win the whole thing and it will be a great step forward in the resurgence of white RBs. And when it happens, make sure you savor every moment of being in Target, Walmart, Game Stop or wherever and seeing the big banners with Hillis on it. And in the future when we don't get what we want, like the Patriots not advancing in the playoffs, think back to days like this!

Thanks Freethinker! We really have to appreciate how far Hillis has come, from being benched by Josh McDaniels to being one of only 4 NFL players in contention for the cover of the most popular video game on the market, and WINNING!

Hillis has a very rare star appeal. He seems to handle the spotlight well, and has all the qualities that many of us at CF like. Obviously he has all the skills we appreciate, but he's also a very humble, religious family man who doesn't rub his star status in people's face. When he scores or has a big play though, he celebrates appropriately. He doesn't lose his cool on the field, screaming at coaches, refs, or teammates. He has nothing but respect for the fans who have payed dearly to see him live. Yeah maybe he doesn't bring up race. But why should he when he's getting the opportunities we wanted for him all along? There's bumps in the road in everyone's life. Of course it sucks that guys like Justin Beaver, Brock Forsey, Nate Kmic, Jake Sharp, Luke Staley, and dozens of others did not get the same opportunity. That shouldn't take anything away from what Hillis has done. But just think, five years ago could you imagine a white RB rushing over 1000 yards AND getting on the cover of the most popular video game? Well folks, one part has and the other is about to happen!

I can't think of any mass movement or trend that really stuck for all eternity. Just think, the temperance movement actually got alcohol made illegal in our CONSTITUTION which only has 27 amendments in almost 235 years, and 10 of those were right off bat. That got reversed rather quickly. Sometimes we have to look long term. For the past 2 years I have seen some rather interesting cracks emerging in the Caste System, as others have noted as well. It's not time to start rejoicing yet, but a lot has happened and if anything the pendulum of the caste system has reached it's far point, and it's starting to swing backwards. Just like an ocean liner cruising full steam 1000 miles from it's point of departure can't stop on a dime and instantly be back where it was, so to is the case with the caste system. I feel we have finally reversed course and sanity is slowly being restored. Hillis getting on the cover will be a big step in the right direction!

It would certainly be nice for a White non quarterback to be on the cover of a John Madden video game!

Having said that, don't those games always unfairly weight the players' different skills, like speed, agility, strength, etc. -- and always AGAINST Whites?

It would be awful if Hillis' skill set were inferior in the game to some contemporary Black fat slob runningback not fit to carry his jockstrap.

Or worse, if Hillis were listed as FB on a roster. HA!

Giovani, I believe there were some instances of white players having unfairly low rated attributes, but those were for guys that didn't get much playing time. Last year when Madden '11 first came out Hillis was not that good and was the 3rd string RB for the Browns, and I think may have been listed as FB. The thing was he got next to no playing time the year before. If you have your game platform linked online, the attributes update as the season progresses. By week five of the real season Hillis was the starter and pretty good game. I remember a few years ago we compared some of the attributes, and Wes Welker had one of the top acceleration and juke ratings if I'm not mistaken. For the guys that get regular playing time, I think it's relatively fair. There have been some glaring mistakes though I believe the Madden '04 version allowed you to run with Michael Vick and average about 6 or 7 yards a carry consistently.

Just looking at who's been on the cover and it has definitely been mostly black. John Madden was on the cover of the game until the 2000 version. in 95, 96, and 97 versions there were some obscurely visible players in addition to John Madden, but they weren't a focal point so they weren't really the "cover star." Here's the list:

Peyton Hillis made it to the finals with a commanding 61% to 49% victory over Aaron Rodgers! He's now up against Ron Mexico in the final round to make it on the cover of Madden! And remember, this isn't EA unilaterally choosing Hillis, it's an online fan vote. This to me shows somewhat of a reawakening of the DWFs who had been caught in a zombie-like trance for years subconsciously assuming that no white player would be a starting RB again. Now it is coming in clear that a white RB is a SUPERSTAR!

We all owe it ourselves at castefootball, even if we're not video game fans, to log in at least one vote for Hillis. If you set the privacy on your browser to not remember cookies, you can vote unlimited times if you please. Get out there and get your vote in so we can see gigantic posters of Hillis in thousands of stores across the country, on countless TV ads, and the cover of the game that will be in millions of living rooms, apartments, and college dorms around the country!

Yeah it's definitely an agenda, but what I'm wondering is what finally changed in their minds to put a white player on the cover for the first time in the 09 version, and to repeat it in 11, with a huge probability of a white player now being on the cover 2 years in a row and for the 3rd time in 4 years.

When you look at the cover stars of EA's NCAA football video game, it's been a little more fair. In 96 and 97 it was known as "College Football USA," before that it was known as "Bill Walsh College Football." The 97 version was the first to use a player who just finished playing in college. Here's the list of players who have been on the cover of that game:

Out of the 15 years, a white player has been on the cover in 7 of the years including the multiple cover years of 09-10. Out of all the 22 cover stars they used, 9 were white if you include Sparty who is a fictional white Mascot, or 8 of the 21 real players. If you include Mark Sanchez it's 9 of the 21 real players. While it's still mostly been white, it's been more fair than the Madden franchise, at least until lately.

Encouraged to see Woodhead advance to the qtr finals...there are still plenty of frustarting/sickening dwf's out there...but there is also a strong case of much respect!

This is good news I guess. The Madden Curse is just a negative energy out there because of awareness of it from the players, there is truly no "curse". I have a feeling Hillis is going to win with the way he beat Rodgers in the semis.

This reminds me of the article Don posted that eluded to how the NFL holding whites out of playing RB is a foolish economic decision (ES has mentioned this too). Hillis and Woodnead jerseys have been selling like hotcakes. It takes fans (particularly in cities like Philadelphia and Chicago) longer to warm to white players, but once they do in most cities if they perform well for most of one whole season they become fan favourites. Of course one screw up and the self loathing comes out and the fans can quickly go back to blaming "whitey".

MUCH more white fans root for white RBs than the White Rivals media wants to admit, just like blacks root for black QBs! The NFL should wake up to this part of the market!

there is a video of Michael Vick and Peyton Hillis talking about this Madden cover thing on first take. The odd thing is that it was filmed before any of the voting took place. Like I said I am a little superstitious but it would be hard to put Hillis as anything besides a starting runningback for the rest of his career after being on the cover of Madden, even if something does happen to him during next year. There have been players who have been fine after being put on the cover. Looking through it most of the guys were overrated like Vince Young, and others, well its hard for you to not decline just a little bit after having a career year. Brees did suffer an injury last but he played through it. It wasn't talked about until Heath Evans called out another quarterback for sitting out injured. Hillis should be fine.

The actual footage from the game looks terrible though, Vick apparently has the same tackle breaking ability as Hillis.

So guys, please commit to voting a minimum of 10 times for Hillis. We owe this to ourselves! Just 200 members on the forum voting voting an average of 25 times will equal 5000 votes. Even if Hillis is far ahead, it helps in the landslide aspect! Let's make this a huge lopsided victory in favor of Hillis!
