some things worth noticing from these play-offs is that the very non-white udinese won't play champions league, the south american team braga beat them
also bate borisov qualified
i didn't watch any of these matches, so if somebody know how bate borisov is doing right now, and what we can expect from them at this champions league, please tell it (i think that it was giles' favorite team)
they have the whitest team in the champions league and they also have many local players

not all the play offs have been played
lille (very black like all french teams, althought white for a french team) might lose against copenhagen
not too exciting because all the middlefielders and strikers of copenhagen were brazilians, costa ricans, or other south americans


the major factor for trying to guess what club will win this very prestigious competition are usually:
-which team has enough time to prepare the matches - it implies that they have either a very large squad so they almost play champions league and the national league with 2 diferent teams, or they don't take the national league seriously (because they are very dominant, like barcelona possibly this season, or because they have no chance to win it anymore - like chelsea last year - so they focus on champions league)

-which team has a solid (white) defense, like chelsea last year
last year barcelona's defence was too weak, they had fitness problems and some players might be too old
this year i can see busquets playing as a central defender in the big matches, and song as defensive middlefielder

There weren’t too many surprises in the preliminary rounds of the Champions League and the Eastern European teams (with the exception of Dinamo Zagreb and Dynamo Kyiv) weren’t at their best, so we won’t see any clubs making their debuts in the group stages. F 91 Dudelange from Luxembourg (their star player is Aurelian Joachim) eliminated the Austrian champions Red Bull Salzbourg and Aris Limassol (very few Cypriots) won 2:0 on aggregate against Serbian club Partizan, but the former are now out of the competition while the latter have secured qualification for the group phase of the UEFA Europa League.

Udinese vs. Braga was an interesting encounter, it took a failed Panenka chip to decide the tie (I like watching penalty shootouts ).

We can expect great things from BATE in this year’s edition of the Champions League…the Belarusians were not very convincing in the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] and 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] preliminary rounds (they were close to being eliminated by a Macedonian club), but thery have now hit top gear. Yesterday they were quite tidy from a defensive standpoint and managed to hold on against a strong Israeli team (Ironi Kiryat Schmona). Their starting line-up featured 10 Belarusians and 1 Serbian (3 Belarusians came on as subs, Bressan remained an unused substitute). Aliaksandr Hleb (who made a name for himself with "Stuttgart" and "Arsenal") and Mikhail Sivakov (former captain of the Belarus U-21 team) are currently playing for the team from Barysaw. BATE are now capable of dictating the tempo of games and no longer need to rely on their defense and goalkeeper to bail them out.

If they are lucky with the draw and manage to avoid teams like Barcelona and Real Madrid, it’s not out of the question that they could reach the 1/16 finals (by finishing in second place in their group). At the very least I hope that they could get their first win in the group stages of the Champions League. BATE may still sign two or three new players (Vitali Kutuzov who is currently a free agent is a good option for them).

milan will most likely struggle in serie A and they don't have enough quality players to do well in both chamions league + serie A at the same time
they are the weakiest team in the pot 1

I'm watching the draw at the UEFA website. Milan and Zenit St Petersburg are in the same group. I disagree with historic accomplishments being considered for a draw like this. As if players like Robinho have any connections to Milan players of the past. Manchester City and Real Madrid are paired. I would love to see Man City flop in this tournament. Arsenal look like they will get a relatively easy group - Schalke, Olympiakos, and Montpellier. Giroud gets to go back to Montpellier.

marseille is a typical example
they are not a very talented team
but last year they were horrible in the french league, and they soon lost all hopes of qualifying to next year's champions league so they focused on the current champions league
this while top clubs like dortmund didn't take champions league seriously because they wanted to win their domestical league
the result was marseille thrashing dortmund 3-0, an impossible result under normal conditions
then the same goes for marseille's succes against internazionale, which was way superior but was in trouble in their domestical league and still wanted to qualify for next year's champions league so they weren't focused when they faced marseille

another example: chelsea was hopeless in premier league so they soon focused entirely on champions league, while they faced teams like benfica who had to play this champions league match at the same time than a very important match for the title in the portuguese league (they played the very big match in the portuguese league against fc porto, then in the same month they faced chelsea in champions league - and there was another match against fc porto in the same month, in the portuguese cup)

a big champions league match takes more than 1 month of trainig entirely focused only on this match

only 3 non-whites and 2 of them are brazilian, the only black is a defensive middlefielder

remember they are from a league where more than 50% of the starters each week are blacks, so whites are much less than 50% each week in france

i watched the second half, i don't think that both teams were 100%, especially real madrid with varane as a central defender, and marcelo while coentrao was suposed to play (marcelo was guilty in the defeat against sevilla)

benzema's goal is pretty beautiful too, not a tap-in, it looks like a goal that a good player would score
that's why he's better than balotelli
but he will always lack the "killer instinct" and the athletic qualities (he's way too stiff)

these are 3 very important points
i was surprised to see that ajax was pretty white
but dortmund has only 1 turk in the starting 11 which is astonishing

dortmund used the exact same players than in their latest bundesliga match (which was 3 days ago) except grosskreutz who didn't play today
that's a HUGE disadvantage compared with the very rich clubs that have many more substitutes
for example if lewandowsky is injuried, they have no other striker since they sold lucas barrios

Seems like some very good results for us today.

I really like the Dortmund team. Aside from being extremely White they have some top German and Polish players (my 2 main ancestries). Götze, Reus, Hummels and Lewendowski, Blaszczykowski, Piszczek are some personal favorites. Hopefully they can advance.

Arsenal winning in France was big and Giroud started. Too bad he could not score against his former club.

It might not be a "caste" win (don't know the racial break down) but I'm glad Schalke won against Olympiakos in Greece. I don't like the useless Afro-German mutt Jermaine Jones but I really enjoy watching Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. He's a goal scoring machine.

It goes without saying that whenever Man City loses it's a good thing. And as a bonus, their 2 goals were scored by Whites.

I hope for continued success for "our" teams going forward.
