The former Clemson WRis trying to catch on with the ultra caste Steelers. I found this article on Draftdaddy written by a black columinist , who in one of his related articles claimed the Pirates were "going in the right direction". Full of caste bull sh*t
I'll post the link as well to see the pictures http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/sports/steelers/s_636494.html

Tyler Grisham allegedly doesn't have the speed to go deep, but there he was somehow getting behind the Steelers' secondary to grab a long pass on the first day of practice.

Grisham is what's known as training-camp fodder. His measurables â€" height, weight, 40-time â€" don't stack up. He joined the team as an undrafted free agent following an undistinguished senior season at Clemson.

When he caught the ball Saturday for the longest pass play of the afternoon, I had to consult my roster because I didn't know who No. 19 was.

Grisham is the type of player who grows on you. The more you watch him, the more you realize he can play.

Forget his 40-time. He has football speed, similar to Wes Welker and Kevin Curtis. (???)

"I'm going to have to play extremely well to make the team," Grisham said in the understatement of the year. "What's good is we have Hines Ward on the team. He's made a niche for himself in the NFL. He's played so long because he's smart, he has good hands, he's tough and runs good routes. That's what I think I bring."

Mind you, Grisham â€" 5-foot-11, 180 pounds â€" won't receive many opportunities with the Steelers, playing behind the likes of Ward, Santonio Holmes, Limas Sweed, Shaun McDonald, Dallas Baker and Mike Wallace.

The Steelers kept five receivers last season, which means Grisham â€" barring injuries to veterans â€" is facing long odds.

He knows that, and he couldn't care less.

"I've had to work my way up from the bottom at every level," said Grisham, who recorded 132 receptions for 1,390 yards and eight touchdowns in his career at Clemson but had only 37 catches and one touchdown reception as a senior. "If I sit around and think I'm in a room with Super Bowl MVPs and (high) draft picks, I'm only going to think negative thoughts. You've got to go out there and think everybody's the same. I felt Pittsburgh would be a good place for me to compete."

NFL Draft analyst Mike Detillier gives Grisham high marks.

"He's tailor-made for what the Steelers do," Detillier said. "They like to throw that short intermediate stuff, have somebody go across the middle. He fits that mold."

Steelers college scout Dan Rooney Jr. is credited with finding Grisham. Rooney has a reputation for locating hidden gems â€" undrafted free agent Willie Parker comes to mind. Maybe Rooney saw something special in Grisham like he did in Parker.

Wide receivers coach Randy Fichtner said Grisham has a chance because he can play inside and outside and has the ability to take what he learns in the classroom and apply it on the field.

A voracious blocker, Grisham recorded 68.5 knockdowns in 2007, according to the Steelers' media guide.

"Dan Rooney scouts that area and was the first to tell me about him," Fichtner said. "(Offensive coordinator) Bruce Arians was also familiar with him. Some of the best route runners, some of the best receivers in the league, aren't always the fastest. He's solid. I haven't found a weakness yet.''

Of course, if Grisham was such a hot commodity at receiver, he would have been a first-round pick instead of an undrafted free agent. He knows the odds are stacked against him. To shorten those odds, he's also playing on special teams.

"I'm going to have to be extremely consistent, more than I ever have been," Grisham said. "They're working me in everything â€" punt returns, kickoff returns. That's how I have to make the team. I have to be very valuable."

Again the writer obeys the rules by comparing Grisham to other white WRSWes Welker and Kevin Curtis in the same sentence even though they are are totally different tyes of players.

He might have a chance at 4th or 5th reciever, considering how bad the Steeler's recievers are. But then again, it is the Steelers. In a fair world, Tyler would be their 3rd reciever.

kevin curtis has 4.3 speed and wes welker has 4.5 speed. Wtf? how do they compare?

That's what stuck out to me the most out of all the racist stereotyping in the article. Fans must constantly be reminded that whites are never fast, even when they are super-fast (Curtis). And the fans of course believe it. Must be something in the water that causes so many people to deny what they see.

the author of that article was a negro. so, apparently us White devils not only all look alike, we all run alike, too.

best of luck to Tyler.

Yawn, more boring, patronizing journalism.

The only reason Curtis was drafted out of Utah State was because of his breathtaking 40 times. After all, being an amazing collegiate athlete means almost nothing unless you're either black or somoan.

Is this the year of the white practice squad WR promotion? Amendola, Long, C. Martin, Bergeron, Hass and now Grisham. A few have gotten legit chances and hopefully a few will earn roster spots for next season.

The copy-cat NFL sees little Wes Welker dominating at will vs his opponets...now more & more teams wan't a player just like him!

Still can't believe Bret Bust Perriman said that about Welker???

I can't believe the Steelers would get close to promoting a white WR. I thought they'd sign some black WR retread. I never expected this from Tomlin. Whether he'll play is another question, though.

It's likely going to be no different than the yo-yo string currently being used on Mike Hass and Troy Bergeron. They're kept on the margins of the league for years and never get a real opportunity. I couldn't even begin to count the number of capable White receivers this has happened to since I became aware of the Caste System almost 30 years ago. Has to bewell intothe hundreds by now.

Yeah, I'd guess that this is just a one week only deal for Grisham. But, at least Long, Amendola, Martin, Nick Miller, and for that matter Danny Woodhead have stayed on their teams for awhile now.

First career catch for Tyler Grisham!

I was worried after his later drop, but he was back on the field at the end of the game.

Keep working hard and force the Steelers to use you, Tyler.

Sad as it is to say, when he had the drop I thought, "His career may beover." Hopefully not, but that's how little margin for error a "scrub" White player has. It won't be surprising if the DWFs label him forever as having bad hands.

I was surprised that Tomlin put Grisham back on the field after the drop. Hopefully, that drop didn't land him in the doghouse. Hopefully, he'll hold off Grandpa Galloway for the 4th reciever spot. I hope Grisham sticks, but I wouldn't count on it with Tomlin and Colbert running the show.

Maybe, just maybe, Grisham could beat out scrub Limas Sweed next year for the No. 4 WR next year. The Steelers do use a fourth WR a fair amount of time.

Let's go Tyler!

I'm surprised Ron Cook gave Grisham a mulligan on his drop. I read him for many years and he'susually reliablyanti-White. For years after John Rocker's infamous set-up by Sports Illustrated, Cook would devote columns to bashing Rocker. He was obsessed with Rocker but of course was part of the Pittsburgh media that lionized such great folks as Greg Lloyd and Joey Porter.

I think Grisham's got some talent, he showed that at Clemson and could be a capable slot receiver. But I'm actually surprised that Grisham is in the NFL, but guys like Andrew Means and Eric Peterman aren't on some team's roster with the way the NFL favors guys with measurables. Peterman is also more versatile and could play Slot, Flanker or maybe even Split End where Grisham is basically just a Slot guy. If Grisham can become a reliable Slot target- he'll start getting the poor man's Welker comparison and hopefully become a team favourite.

The Steelers have resigned Grisham for a 4th go-round with the team. In his first 3 seasons, he played in a grand total of 4 games with one catch. I figure they will torture him during training camp again, and then, if it appears he might make the 53-man roster, they will find another black WR like Cotchery this year.
