WA33, "Lice" was supposed to fight Ken Shamrock, but Ken received a cut on his eye warming up a few hours before the fight & Elite XC chose Petruzelli to backfill for Shamrock. If Ken were to have taken Bimbo down, he would have sub him easily. Even at 45, Ken's in great shape & extremely seasoned at shoot-fighting.

I didn't like how Dana White dismissed Roy Nelsons victory by saying he barely did what was needed to win the fight. Isn't that the point, you win the fight, take minimal damage to yourself and since this is a tournament format it's best to win in the smartest way possible to live to fight another day.

Hawkeye, excellent post pointing out the contradictions in the image Kimbo tries to put across on the show. Don't give me this faith in God stuff when you are working for and promoting low life pornagraphers.

I was surprised how Nelson fights. He looks very out of shape but he can move very well for a big guy and knows how to take someone down.

Nelson was neck and neck with Ben Rothwell for the 2007 (or maybe 2008) IFL heavyweight championship. Rothwell is an excellent fighter (perhaps top 10 in the UFC at heavyweight - top 5 if he beats Velasquez this month) and many felt Nelson should have one.

I did see Nelson fight Arlovski last year and he looked excellent until he got caught by a very hard punch from Arlovski (who - despite his chin issues - is a murderous puncher).

Yeah, excellent case of not judging a book by its cover. Two weeks ago the huge white former NFL player - Wes Shivers -- gassed at the 2 minute mark of the first round and he is built like a Greek God. But you won't see Nelson gas as he is in great shape despite his gut and man boobs.

Nelson should really consider losing at least some of that fat. If he is this good now imagine how good he would be 20 pounds lighter. He would be quicker and more mobile in the ring.

Nelson proves MMA isn't a bodybuilding contest. I've see "buff" fighters gas & get their @$$es handed to them. Mark Hunt has the typical rotund, higher BF% Polynesian physique but hits like a sledgehammer & has an iron-cast chin. Fedor is the best fighter in the world, and he's not ripped/muscled-up, etc.

However, I agree with WA33...Nelson should cut to 235-245, as it'd help his speed & cardio. Edited by: DixieDestroyer

Maybe I'm just a contrarian by nature, but I like Roy Nelson just as he is. I think the guy has learned to use his bulk to his advantage in the ring (or cage.) He's got decent cardio, decent standup and a great ground game. He manages his own career, sets up his own fights, and trains at home. He tells it like it is, even when talking about The Dana and the refs. I'm officially a fan.

I don't really dislike Kimbo, either. I'm not gonna hold him accountable for being a hypocrite, as I've been there myself. But I do think he is 'unteachable,' as Bas Rutten said, but not because of attitude but rather lack of aptitude. I've trained people like that - no matter how many times you demo something, they just never get it.

People say with the right trainers, with the right team or this or that, but the truth is he's been in MMA for a few years now. He should at the very least have the basics of grappling down, know how to sprawl, etc, and he appears to still have very little knowledge of these basic fundamentals.

I expect the UFC to run with him the same way EliteXC decide, despite Dana's whining and complaining about their antics before they folded. They'll bring in cans to fight Kimbo, guys they know will keep it standing, and unfortunately for them some of those guys will end up KO'ing the new cash cow.

It's a sad state of affairs, but emblematic of our current culture, that a guy with no real fighting ability is the 'face' of MMA because he is a scary-looking black guy.

Good points, Shogun. If Roy is not gassing he shouldn't worry about the weight.

I also agree about Kimbo. Not to be mean but he doesn't have the IQ to learn the finer points of BJJ.

Schaub subs "afflete" DemicYO Rogers via anaconda choke!
smiley32.gif
Schaub showed solid grit coming back from some slight G&P via Rogers. Also, another crappy display of "coaching" by functional idiot Jackson. Ol' Rampage got PO'd at Nelson's joking right after Roy's defeat of caste myth "Bimbo Lice". Rampage & his (tomato can) Assistant "Coach" Tiki "Blowshin" were dissin' Roy...saying he has no skills...when Roy would whoop both their @$$es in the cage! Alotta the White fighters were kinda hyping "Bimbo" at the beginning of the show.
smiley24.gif
Bimbo was saying "this is the only time these guys can beat me up...in 2-3 weeks they won't be able to touch me", etc. What a joke!
smiley8.gif

Also, "PEDicus YOnes" was being hyped as some big powerhouse (in practice), when in actuality the guy has no clue how to spar & free-roll (almost injuring his team mates). Some of the mugs were saying Matt Mitrione was scared to fight PEDicus YOnes...as if YOnes is Brock Lesnar. Meanwhile, Rashad said Mitrione is "very, very athletic".

Why I'm no fan of Rashad's in-the-cage TNB, he's heads above Rampage as a coach. Evans has some intelligence & actually called a few of the White fighters great athletes. Right now, I see Rampage only getting maybe 2 wins...via Wes Sims & Scott Junk. Rashad, Greg Jackson & Van Arsdale have Rampage, Tiki & Ramirez totally outclassed.

Schaub looked superb. He's my pick to win the show! As for Rampage he is a child living in an adult's body. Rashad Evans has really earned my respect and i will cheer for him in the future.

Another great caste win for our guys. Brandon Schaub tapped an undefeated black guy named Demico Rogers.

Rampage Jackson showed absolutely no class in not even helping his fallen fighter who just got choked out. When an assistant asked if they should give Rogers a stool, Rampage yelps, "why - he barely even fought."

Rashad went up a notch in my book by offering some words of encouragment to the defeated fighter even though he is not on his team.

My buddy knows Schaub a bit and also predicted he would win the show. He looked very good in this episode so we'll see. Anyone who trains in that Greg Jackson camp is gonna be well coached and used to fighting all styles.

Liverlips agreed. Both teams should pump out some serious talent into the heavyweight division i am so excited to see how some of these guys pan out! I'm a little bothered that Mitrione who Rashad called "extremely athletic" was scared to take on "Big Marcus Jones". C'mon man Big Marcus has NO stamina you should be able to run circles around him. Team Rashad 4-0 and has won every fight so far on the show. Can they win all 8?

CDB15, I think Wes Sims & maybe Junk will win. I'm not sure sure Mitrione is scared...at least I hope not. PEDicus YOnes is overhyped due to size and having played in the NFL...and (of course) being an "afflete".

It looks like Rampage didn't put any thought into picking his team. Of the four left only Wes Sims looks like he has Legit skills. Junk has the experience, but I don't see him defeating Justin Wren. Wren left the Iowa State wrestling team for this oppertunity, he trains with Travis Lutter on his bjj and from what i've heard he is a he is a very googd striker. Wren is only 21 and has a record of 10-1.
I also am not overly impressed with Marcus. Marcus is 35 and gasses way to easily. I think Marcus might have a chance against Matt only because of Matt's lack of experience.

alos the number four guy on Rampage's team is Zak Jensen. Zak got his ass kicked by my good friend the late Ryan Kotzea in 24 seconds. Zak is another Abe Wagner.

Hawkeye, good call on Wren. I didn't know he trained with BJJ ace Lutter (who had full mount on Anderson Silva). Sims might be the lone victory for "IQ of 72" Rampage.

I agree with the sentiments here with regards to Rashad and I have new found respect for him. Prior to this show, he was no doubt one of my least favorite fighters and I routinely rooted against him.

What I'm seeing from him is someone who is intelligent, well-spoken, and classy. He's done a good job of picking a solid team, they are well coached, and destroying team Rampage in the process. He is very complimentary of all the fighters on this team and having that positive influence surely has led to this 4-0 record.

As for Rampage himself, that man has some serious mental issues. I will definitely hope for Rashad Evans to knock him out when they fight in Nov.

I think maybe the one silver lining in the whole Kimbo Slice MMA debacle, is that each and every time Kimbo's lack of skill is exposed, the thuggish "scary black man" image he is built on, looks more rightfully clownish and less intimidating to the casual fan. Serious MMA fans already know this guy is a joke and that appearance means very little. Appearance has been one of the biggest building blocks of the sports caste system in America, and we all know it sure as hell hasn't been built on merit. Once that facade starts to crack, the system as a whole will be easier to expose.

It is pretty obvious from Jackson's antics over the years, that he suffers from both serious mental problems and a low IQ, perhaps even a borderline IQ. It is truly amazing that he has even managed to do as well as he has in a sport like MMA that takes personal discipline. In all likelihood a serious jail term is in his future. He has already almost completely self destructed at least once, and that is just the incident that we all know about. Who knows how many times he has been close to the edge before, but was pulled back?

Yeah, I'm with you.

Rashad has certainly earned my respect which is a suprise to me considering his past antics in the ring. But I won't likely be rooting for him against any white fighter unless the white fighter is a real ass-clown. I did like very much how Rashad said a couple of his white fighters were explosive and athletic.

I'll 100% be pulling for Rashad against that retard Jackson, but (as G301 stated) never against a White fighter.

Rampage certainly has the IQ of a functional idiot & probably needs some counseling. He keeps talking about Rashad's "trash talk", yet aside from Rashad's in-ring TNB, he's acted pretty classy as a TUF coach. Maybe some of the Rampage's DWFs will stop hugging his nardz & realize what a world-class buffoon he is.

After watching this show I think Rashad is a decent person. Rampage on the other hand is a prick who doesn't respect anyone or anything.
