Along with team previews being written up, Celticdb15 and I have decided to compile our own "top 10" lists putting the spotlight on some of our best players to watch at different positions. If anything, it should put the spotlight on some players that deserve recognition but are overlooked by the national media. These are guys to watch on Saturdays.

Top 10 Pocket QBs

1. Bryce Petty QB Baylor SR
2. Sean Mannion QB Oregon St. SR
3. Shane Carden QB ECU SR
4. Christian Hackenberg QB PSU SO
5. Connor Cook QB MSU JR
6. Connor Halliday QB WSU
7. Matt Johnson QB Bowling Green JR
8. Davis Webb QB Texas Tech SO
9. Garrett Grayson QB CSU SR
10. Jared Goff QB Cal SO

I worry about the "System QB" stigma with Petty. Such things don't affect negroes, as we have seen. But the NFL would love to give credit for Petty's performance to the Briles offense.
His numbers are the best in college football, of course. But I think Carden might be just a bit more naturally talented in the pocket.

Curious why you didn't include Kevin Hogan. Among all returning starters, he was second only to Petty in QB Effectiveness rating. (not counting the two mud-skinned QBs)

I am conflicted on Hogan. I think he has a ton of talent but so far shaw has refused to build the offense around him. I hope that changes some this season and they allow him attempt 25-30 passes a game. Like I said these are fluid rankings but I also think I would put hogan in the dual threat category as he is a great runner.

Petty needs to have another very strong season, I think the system qb tag is bull****. He plays in the same offense gremlin the turd did and was better than griffin. He has all the tools. If anything every single one of the highly touted black quarterbacks are system qbs, playing in exactly the same type offense as each other. Now that's a joke.

I am probably going to make a list for top impact transfer qbs but I am excited to see Coker at Alabama, Kiel at Cincinnati and Wes Lunt take over at illinois. Coker was smart to get
out of free shoes u. He has all the ability and talent. He is easily the most impressive qb of the Sabah era. Kiel is a wildcard, he was a top rated prep qb but bounced from lsu to Notre dame and ended up in Cincinnati. Wes Lunt played really well as a true freshman at Ok st. before he was injured in 2012.

Another transfer QB is Cody Sokol who transferred to LA Tech from Iowa. Ironic that Coker wasn't good enough f FSU but is for Bama!

Nice list Leonardfan! Petty has good mobility out of the pocket as well. He's was getting plenty of respect at Trent Dilfer's QB Camp; he Rated Bryce Petty #1...

I would have thought you'd have Kevin Hogan on that list as well.

Shane Carden, Connor Cook & Christian Hackenberg seem to have the "It" factor/Bright Futures

Maybe some *Honorable Mentions*
Ole Miss's Bo Wallace threw for over 3,000 yards last season...two years ago he was fast enough to burn the LSU Defense up on a 58 yard TD run up the middle

USC's Cody Kessler could surprise....

Houston Soph. John O'Korn (28 TD passes last season)
