No matter how poorly they continue to perform in the NFL and for most college programs, the hyping of the black quarterback continues with ever greater intensity. The article linked to below shows how the media and the so-called recruiting services work together to make certain players legends before they've even played a down in college. Or as this writer puts it, "much like LeBron James in basketball as a high-school senior, Pryor, the 6-foot-6, 235-pound quarterback with the cannon arm and 4.4 speed, has already transcended the recruiting world."

No matter how well or poorlyheplays we're guaranteed to have endless hype about Terrelle Pryor laid on very thick all through his college and pro career. The canonization of black football players continues while white superstars in high school can't even get recruited at many positions.

It's interesting how these QB's keep getting bigger and bigger. How long before we have a Shaq type QB.

What's funny is that the big deal here is that he didn't commit early like every other blue chip QB. I guess his agent is already working on the exposure angle.

I also doubt the 4.4 speed, but we'll see.

The hype in Ann Arbor for this guy is ridiculous. I relly hope he goes somewhere else.

I hope to see Rodriguez's spread offense fail with this overrated player at the helm. I do not really think Pryor will be anything great as he is once again underdeveloped as a passer and takes off running after he makes his first read. He is also a bigger target and will be easier to hit. The spread has been around for the past decade or so in college football but defenses will find a way to stop it. There was an article on DD about how 57 of the top 100 players in the 2007 draft were not 4 or 5 star recruits. Rivals.com and Scout.com and other media outlets are really where the caste is being implemented and they need to be put into check at that level because from there it only gets worse for white athletes.

If he has 4.4 speed, he makes it all up in the last half with his long legs. Unfortunately for him, the last 20 yards are the least important ones for a QB. I've watched this clown play (AA game and highlights). He is SLOW from a dead start. Having "speed" is irrelevant for a QB. You need quickness. A good first five steps and an ability to change direction quickly are valuable traits if you combine them with a strong and accurate arm. A 4.4 40 time, though, is nearly meaningless.
The one thing that will save him is that he'll be going to a program (OSU or Mich) that has fantastic offensive lineman. They'll make him look like a superstar.

Jaxvid,I would rather you and Ann Arbor get him for the next four years than me and Columbus get him. Ohio State and Michigan are his two top choices. I believe and hope he chooses Michigan. They are pretty black anyway, what's one more!

He might do well in the collegiate ranks because a lot of programs run spread offense along with dumbed down playbooks for these black QB's to look better than they really are. I doubt he will do anything in the pros. Look at the embarrassment to the NFL that is Vince Young. No matter how hard they push this guy as the new face of the league, he simply can't get it done. It should be pretty apparent as to how much the Titans dumb down their playbook for him. That is why he rarely throws down the field. Terrelle Pryor looks to be Vince Young's doppelganger.

Yeah, it's like a lottery with the winner losing! I hear he's sure bet for OSU. Hopefully our negro QB (whoever he turns out to be), beats your negro QB.

Pittsburgh radio and T.V. outlets have made this guy a saint, and anyone who calls in to complain, are taken to task by show moderators, any negative comments are verboten!

Interesting that no media outlets mention the situation at Kennywood Amusement park, when he was told to leave, and demanded his money back.Several talk show callers brought the subject up,and were cut off the air.Edited by: LabMan

Terrelle be looking towards the NFL already, and you can bet the NFL and the media are too despite the follies of so many previous black QBs: http://dispatch.com/live/content/football/stories/2008/02/10 /osufb10.ART_ART_02-10-08_C1_R79AI0I.html?sid=101

Since the system's obsession with race is all about equality and fairness, then the media must also be watching over the many excellent white high school prospects at RB and CB each year, giving them lots of publicity and making sure they get recruited by quality programs and are given equal opportunity.

The Columbus media, especially the Dispatch(local newspaper), just will not stop talking about this guy. The fans are even worse as they cannot let up getting on this kid for delaying his decision. I guess the media is just feeding the drunk white fans what they want.

We will continue to get these superior black QB's rammed down our necks until they start to routinely win championships in college and the pros.

I am a bit pessimistic about white america standing up of the double standards, given their fawning adoration for blacks of any fame. Just watch the Super Brother campaign. The whites are in rapture over this smooth-talkin' brutha.

Makes me sick.

Wow, he's a black Matt Jones. No big deal. Vince Young also had similar numbers. If he doesn't win a national championship in college against one of the best teams of all time ('05 USC), I doubt he'll be more of a Vince Young in the pros, but rather more of a Matt Jones (converted to WR).Edited by: FieldThrower

Let`s see Terrelle Pryor actually do something in college first before talking about the NFL. Anyway, he could always get hurt-like blow out a knee-and then there goes the speed and he would have to use his brain more...well, that would probably be too much, and when will he show he can throw the ball with the necessary consistency and a ton of other things?

If hesurvives at QB, don`t be surprised if Al Davis drafts him from the grave to take over the Raiders` QB position to replace one-contract wonder JaMarcus Russell in 4 years.

Sports Illustrated has a long story on Pryor's choice of a collegethis week, even though he ended up not picking one. But it still gave SI the opportunity to take up several pages marveling at Pryor's unbelievable affleticism.

Si is extremely unfair. This is nothing more than a recreation of the late 90's when they hyped Mcnabb, Smith, and Culpepper however at the college level. Don the whole system is extremely flawed. I can tell u that because DanCicco is stuck in a whole. Same thing with Ray Van Peenan.

More biased reporting on Pryor. No mention of his attitude or recent actions at all, just deplorable fawning.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - Terrelle Pryor carried a state basketball championship trophy as he walked out of the locker room and was mobbed by reporters. But the question hovering around Happy Valley had nothing to do with hoops.
<DIV =in_info__btm>

The talented Jeannette High School senior said he will decide within a week where he will go to college and play football. It's the latest twist in the saga of one of the most hotly recruited Pennsylvania high school football players in years.

"Next week, I'm going to say the school I'm going to, sign it and get it over with," Pryor said after getting 23 points and eight rebounds to lead his team to a 76-72 overtime win over Strawberry Mansion in the Class AA title game.

The contest was played before 6,000-plus fans at the Bryce Jordan Center on the campus of Penn State University, one of the finalists for Pryor's considerable services. He has said that Ohio State, Michigan and Oregon were also in the mix.

On Saturday, he said he was down to two schools, but declined to name them.

"I can't tell you that," said Pryor, the only Pennsylvania player to rush for more than 4,000 yards and pass for 4,000 in his career. He's rated the nation's No. 1 player by a couple of recruiting services.

At a news conference last month, Pryor said he had felt comfortable with Ohio State the night before, only to change his mind after waking up that morning. He then said he wanted to make an official visit to Penn State and coach Joe Paterno. Pryor's father, Craig, has received numerous visits from Penn State coaches and apparently wants his son to play there.

Asked his impressions of the State College area, Pryor initially didn't sound too thrilled, but he later called Penn State a good school with "good coaches." He said he felt comfortable with Penn State because he had already made many personal trips and unofficial visits to town.

Pryor's high school basketball coach, Jim Nesser, praised the dedication of his star, who said he wanted to hold off on official football recruiting visits until after basketball season was over. Nesser said he did not know whether Pryor would play basketball in college.

"I know he loves the game. I'm just going to tell you, I don't know if some of you guys realize the commitment that he's made to our basketball team," Nesser said. "So the kid's made a lot of sacrifices for our team. ... I have great respect for Terrelle Pryor."

Given the choice, Pryor said he would have started considering his college choices earlier in his high school career.

"Getting to know all these college coaches, I mean the relationships with them ..." he said, his voice trailing off. "It's hard to tell them no. That's how I am. It's hard to tell them no. Eventually I got to do it."

His decision to wait is unusual, as most top players have long committed by signing day in early February. Pryor, though, doesn't have to sign with any school until April 1.

After the Jeannette,Central Catholic, basketball game in Pittsburgh,a fight broke out, among players, officials could not come up with a "reason" for the fight.

A hearing was held at Moon Twp. high school,Pryor, was excused from the hearing, and all Central Catholic players appearing at the hearing wore shirts and ties.

He has committed to OSU. It was heavily reported on ESPN like it was important.

I have no doubt he is a good player.

But I severely doubt he is as good as the media keeps saying he is.

And I have NO DOUBT at all that he isn't the best high school quarterback in the country.

This is what happens when people who know nothing about sports gradually become authorities on what constitutes the ideal athlete.

It's kind of like how gay men are in charge of what's in as far as fashion goes, now the same sausage jockeys are in charge of who the best football players are.

Sick, man.
