Jaguars LT Branden Albert has decided to report back to the team.

Albert announced just one week ago that he was retiring, but it doesn't last long. When he decided to walk away from the team, it was then reported that Albert would owe the Jaguars $3.4 million in signing bonus money that was paid to him after Jacksonville acquired Albert from the Dolphins. All along, Albert has been trying to force the Jaguars' hands in an effort to land more guaranteed money, but GM Dave Caldwell and EVP Tom Coughlin haven't budged. Before "retiring," Albert was reportedly looking ragged in practice. He has one month to get his act together and should ultimately start at left tackle.

Lions waived OT Cyrus Kouandjio.

Signed in the wake of Taylor Decker's shoulder injury, Kouandjio was supposed to compete with Greg Robinson at left tackle, but Robinson won the job easily. With Kouandjio gone, Cornelius Lucas should stick as the swing tackle.

Jaguars released OL Earl Watford.

Jacksonville is giving up on Watford after signing him to a two-year deal this offseason. His release leaves $1.1 million in dead money. Watford should resurface as a veteran backup

Funny stuff - the Giants season is all but lost so they go sumo hunting when sumo OLs are part of their problem already.

The Giants worked out free agent OG Orlando Franklin.

It's the first interest in Franklin since his August release. The Giants are in the market for offensive line upgrades, but haven't made any signings. They've also been connected to Branden Albert and Cyrus Kouandijo.

Looking back to the 2015 draft, there were eight offensive linemen taken in the first 34 picks of the draft. One white, seven sumos.

Pick 5. OT Brandon Scherff - 2015 All-Rookie Team, 2016 Pro Bowl. PFF OL Rank: 5th
Pick 9. OT Ereck Flowers - starter at LT, widely considered one of the worst in the league. PFF OL Rank: 24th
Pick 13. OT Andrus Peat - starter at LG, not very good at all. PFF OL Rank: 23rd
Pick 19. C Cameron Erving - so bad he was traded to the Chiefs for a fifth round pick (not starter)
Pick 21. OT Cedric Ogbuehi - well below average starting LT. PFF OL Rank: 30th
Pick 24. OT DJ Humphries - starting LT. Very bad. PFF OL Rank: 32nd
Pick 28. G Laken Tomlinson - so bad he was traded to the 49ers for a future fifth round pick (not starter)
Pick 34. Donovan Smith - starting LT, made the 2015 All-Rookie team but not very good. PFF OL Rank: 15th

The only player of these to make a pro bowl or even play at an average level is Scherff. The 2015 PFWA All-Rookie OL was Havenstein (pick 57), Marpet (pick 61), Morse (pick 49), Scherff, and Smith.

So the only one of those eight linemen taken in the first round (and first two picks of the second round) has played at an adequate level - Scherff. The sumos range from below average (Smith) to extremely bad (Flowers, Humphries) to dumped after two seasons (Erving, Tomlinson). Then you have a few very good white linemen taken in Havenstein, Marpet, and Morse, who's upside was evidently not first-round quality.

And Scherff was the only White player taken in the first round at any position in the '15 draft.

That was the 1-for-48 year with White players taken at the beginning of the draft. Made the 2017 draft look good.

49ers have lots of 1st round sumo busts or borderline busts. I would love to see Nelson fall to them.

Oklahoma offensive tackle Orlando Brown was historically bad at the Combine. Among his "accomplishments" are a 5.85 40, a 19 1/2 vertical and a broad jump of 6-10.

Brown was widely talked of as being a first round pick, until the Combine. We'll see where he goes now.

Another candidate for the recent busts thread too. Greg Robinson was touted as a sure thing blindside protecting franchise LT (something only blacks are allowed to be labeled - all white OTs are relegated to RT or interior OL by the "experts"). Robinson however has been an all time bust - he was awful with the Rams and Browns last year. Figured I would post it here though:

The Athletic's Matthew Fairburn considers it a matter of "when and not if" the Bills extend year LT Dion Dawkins.
The No. 63 overall pick of the 2017 draft, Dawkins has proven to be a league-average left tackle but even those are hard to find. Durable, Dawkins has never missed a game. He turns 26 in April.


Must be nice to be average yet be trusted to protect the young franchise QBs blindside. I was hoping the Bills would address their Sumo o-line in FA and the draft but neither appears it will be the case.

ESPN's Rich Cimini reports Jets DT Quinnen Williams was allegedly carrying ammunition (per Port Authority Police) when arrested Thursday night for criminal possession of a weapon after attempting to board a flight at LaGuardia Airport.
The ammo allegedly wasn't inside the gun but Williams could still face jail time if the Glock was deemed "loaded" under New York law. The 22-year-old was also holding his Alabama permit at the time of his arrest, which clearly doesn't extend outside said region. Williams' attorney, Alex Spiro, released a statement citing that "there was allegedly a technical issue with the manner in which the lawfully owned firearm was stored" and his side expects the matter to be resolved "shortly." Williams was the highest-drafted defensive player in Jets history last year, agreeing to a four-year, $32.5 million contract in July.

Here's the final PFF standings, 1 honkey along the OL. They are coming for that position hard as well. They will not be happy until there are zero white Athletes/and or White People.

One player who has played well is the Packers' 6th round draft pick Jon Runyan. Runyan was an All Big Ten first team left tackle for two years. He tested out well athletically. He handled DE Chase Young decently when they played. In 3 games Young had zero sacks. Yet Runyan was somehow considered a low draft pick. Somehow the mainstream media media is surprised he's played well in the pros. How could anyone have predicted it? (sarcasm)

At the time of the draft I said that Runyan should be a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Bucky, I believe, was also high on him. We were right. Runyan was drafted so low due to anti-white prejudice. The Packers got a steal because of it. Other teams would be wise to follow suit and get underrated white offensive linemen.

His dad was a mean SOB in the late 90s-mid 2000s for the Eagles. One of the best OL from that era. Let's hope the younger Runyan replicates his success!

Agreed absolutely ridiculous Runyan was a 6th round pick, Pack definitely lucked out!

Eagles might have a good one in 4th Rd pick Jack Driscoll. They were happy with him before he got injured past few weeks.

If GM's were smart, they'd be drafting white OL from schools like Wisconsin and Nebraska, not these SEC sumos who are the beneficiaries of black privilege. I really wish that Southern whites would turn off SEC football and stop going to games. There would be nothing more I'd love to see than to see them playing to empty stadiums (not during a pandemic)

I remember that bum! Him and Jonathan Cooper are 2 of the most recent examples I can give of Black Privilege. Both played Guard and still picked that high in the 1st! Blasphemy, and they've hardly been criticized for being Colossal Busts!

Yes it was the Super Bowl thread where I brought it up. I was mentioning how underrated Fisher has been and how sorely missed he is by the Chiefs and their fans (same fans who wrote him off as a bust after his first two years).
Jonathan Cooper, drafted 3 spots ahead of Chance Warmack, was even worse IMO. Unlike Warmack he didn't even survive his rookie contract. Traded to the Pats in 2016, where he was inactive for every game, then released, and bounced across several other places where he was either inactive or emergency depth only. DJ Fluker was another sumo bust from that draft (11th overall). Not as bad as the former two but still a bust. Been out of the league since being cut from the Raiders in September 2019.
Such a shame Luke Joeckel never panned out. Was he really that bad? I guess injuries played a role but he was "discarded" rather quickly for a #2 overall pick. Looked him up and he seems happy. Completed his degree, now works in real estate in Dallas. Good for him I guess.
Justin Pugh has been quitely been an underrated OL for the Giants, and now Cardinals. Kyle Long was also good before injuries led him to early retirement. Travis Frederick was the second best center (after Jason Kelce) when he was playing, another sad early retirement story (Guillain-Barre Syndrome). But a great OL and TE (Kelce and Ertz) draft.
