Darn if George Kittle isn't injured again. This has started to happen too often in recent seasons. . .

Kittle (groin) didn't take part in Thursday's practice, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports. Analysis: Kittle's status for a Week 1 road matchup with the Bears is up in the air due to a groin injury that he sustained during an unofficial practice Monday. The issue has sidelined him for both official sessions this week and also is considered serious enough to threaten his availability for Sunday, per Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com. Kittle has one more opportunity to mix into drills Friday, at which point the 49ers may provide some clarity into his odds to suit up this weekend. If Kittle is unable to play, Tyler Kroft, Charlie Woerner and Ross Dwelley will be on hand to man tight end for San Francisco.

Looks like Trey Lance is following the path blazed by the late Dwayne Haskins, who was a huge bust in large part because of his laziness and non-existent work ethic along with a fondness for strip clubs:

Now if Trey would start guzzlin some "Purple Drank" then I will go out on a limb and call him a bust.

Hilarious! I’m sure all the black talking heads will be defending this.

All the retarded fans trying post funny comments on Lance are proof positive of the sheer idiocy of all NFL fans. This might take the cake over Kyler Murray’s insightful “They kicked our ass comment” after a terrible week one performance. I bet the Arizona cardinals are super happy in their quarter billion dollar investment. Way to take accountability and carry yourself as a supposed franchise QB.

Based on the past 2 games, Purdy looks even better than Jimmy G.
Of course, it's only 2 games. But regardless, it still shows that Shanahan was completely wrong in evaluating his Quarterbacks.

His depth chart:
1/ Trey Lance
2/ Jimmy G
3/ Brock Purdy
was upside down!

Should have been:
1/ Brock Purdy
2/ Jimmy G
3/ Trey Lance

Sounds like the prognosis for Purdy’s injury is still up in the air - he could either do the rest and rehab or have to undergo surgery. I heard that Tommy John surgery might be a possibility - if that were the case he would miss the upcoming season. I just hope that Tommy John surgery isn’t needed and he is able to be ready in 6 months.

Darnold to the 49ers. Hopefully Purdy is ready by the beginning of the season. Darnold might have a legitimate shot at being the number 2 qb

Wow! This just popped up as I sent my last post. I like this move hopefully they trade Lance for some additional picks.

Maybe Lance is ready to go in our "Recent Busts" mega-thread, but for now I'll put this blurb here. Having Purdy and Sam Darnold battle it out to be the starter will be a great situation. I'm still a Darnold fan and believe he can really blossom if finally developed in the right situation such as SF has:

NBC Sports Bay Area reports a hairline finger fracture forced Trey Lance to change his throwing grip after the injury did not heal properly.

“He spent a whole year throwing without a bent finger which changed everything and shows the toughness of the kid that he never complained about it,” coach Kyle Shanahan said of Lance's 2021 preseason injury Thursday. “He tried to adjust so he could be out there.” Per reporter Matt Maiocco, the injury actually proved to be a bigger hindrance than Lance's catastrophic 2022 lower-body injury. In other words, yikes. Although Shanahan now claims Lance is "the best we've seen him," it's yet another data point to throw on top of the mounting evidence that the 49ers have zero intention of starting Lance in 2023. A trade would remain the best outcome for both parties after Shanahan said Thursday he has three "franchise-like" quarterbacks in Lance, Brock Purdy and Sam Darnold.

A hell of a softball article regarding Lance who is on the verge of becoming one of the biggest busts of all time. Not a negative word to say about him, lots of shifting blame and making sure to not mention how much the franchise gave up to trade up and get a very unproven guy who was essentially a project but hype and skin color parlayed him into a top 3 pick. 49ers got lucky with Purdy and the signing of Darnold to cover up the mess with Lance.

Agreed. Use the man to his full capability.
And he played college ball at Harvard. Astounding how many white kids that are likely capable of playing in the NFL will never get there because of caste system.

Seeing someone like this break through is unreal.

According to this article Juice is such a mismatch and a dynamic player he is better used as a “draw or a decoy”. I would love to see Kyle get 10 carries a game in short yardage to keep Cmac healthy. More of a rathman type role. https://ninernoise.com/posts/49ers-roster-kyle-juszczyk-awesome-want
Although Juszczyk gets a great deal of media accolades and praise from announcers in games as "one of the best", he is criminally underutilized. I've seen it noted here on CF many times over the years. Primarily a safety valve in the passing game, he's brilliant and tough with the ball in his hands. You would think that someone that has shown the ability would have more opportunities but....... I guess he's way too good as a lead battering ram and backfield blocker for his own good.

I agree the normie fans and media see the one big play he makes in a game and are impressed. In reality he’s mainly just a blocking dummy. A black fullback that makes the kind of plays Kyle makes would immediately be moved to tailback and featured. Check out this run from his Raven days. How could you not give him 20 touches a game?? I think he carried the ball 3 or 5 times that season. https://www.baltimoreravens.com/video/nfln-can-t-miss-play-juszczyk-defies-gravity-td-18339645

McCaffrey with 15-20 rushes per game, Juice with 5 would be a damn near unbeatable team.

The 49ers may trade Lance just to get rid of a mistake and lingering problem.

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan has named Sam Darnold as the backup quarterback to Brock Purdy.
Darnold signed with the 49ers this offseason and needed just two preseason appearances to earn the backup job behind Brock Purdy. In his two preseason outings, Darnold completed 16-of-22 passes for 193 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Darnold saw somewhat of a resurgence in 2022 with the Panthers when he led them to a 4-2 record while throwing for 1143-7-3 after coming back from injury. He’d have some streaming appeal in 2QB/superflex leagues if Purdy were to ever miss time.
