He ran into a - 1.6 headwind simply amazing knowing what kind of start he poses, he will surely be in the mix come the 200m final in Daegu

If he can get through the red tape to make it to Korea. He will be in the mix to final in his better event(the 200). He also could semi-final in the 100 as that time is the equivalent to a new pb.

What a race. How does this kid do it with so little muscle and no drive phase. It's amazing to just see two sprinters like Lemaitre and Guliyev who defy every stereotype known about sprinting. They are white, skinny, and have very little experience. Many elite sprinters start running when they are little kids and have the reaction time, start, drive phase, etc. down to a science by the time they are in high school.<div></div><div>Ramil Guliyev has so much talent. He is just a natural. Born to run!</div>

10.18 into a -1.6 is really good and he beat some big names.

1 Michael Frater [JAM] JAM 10.11
2 Ramil Guliyev [TUR] TUR 10.18
3 Kim Collins [SKN] SKN 10.22
4 Ainsley Waugh [JAM] JAM 10.38
5 Rikki Fifton [GBR] GBR 10.41
6 Roman Smirnov [RUS] RUS 10.41
7 Ruslan Abbasov [AZE] AZE 10.42
8 Francis Obikwelu[POR] POR 10.49

has any one found a vid of the race?

isn't it interesting that he was .07 behind Frater?
That's exactly how much Frater beat Christophe by last week

Race

his top speed is better than Collins and he probably gained on Frater.

I stick by last week's comment.... there are only 2 very good white sprinters on the world scene at this moment and they are both 21.Edited by: mastermulti

Hi, i repost this message. I mistake to post it in "Christophe Lemaitre "White Lightning" 9.95!" topic.

In this race, Znamensky Memorial Zhukovsky (near Moskow), where Ramil Guliyev run a
10.18 with a -1.6 wind, this time if
you convert it (Wind / Altitude Adjustment Calculator at this link:
http://myweb.lmu.edu/jmureika/track/wind/index.html) it's a 10.08 with
0.0 wind. The same adjusted time for the race in Yalta (30 march 2011)
with 10.16 and -1.3 wind.
He could be in the future the second
"caucasian" (really caucasian... from Azerbaijan) runner to brake the
10.00 in 100m. I hope.
But the problem is that he has the same Lemaitre problem with a good reaction, a bad first 40-50 m and an incredible final. He is very unlucky, with a great number of race with negative wind.
What do you think?

I agree. He can and will go sub 10 and sub 20. The sub 10 might not happen for another year though unless he can drastically change his start. He already has the talent to go sub 20 as he just missed a couple of years ago.

I agree mastermulti. It would be great to see him beat Dwain. It would be even better if he beat both Chambers and Gatlin as they both are known drug cheats from the past. The best thing about this list is Guliyevs birthdate! He is still only 21 years of age! The future is bright with Ramil in sight!

Just wanted to wish Rocket Ramil good luck tommorow. I have a feeling he just might get down close to 10.10! Hoping for a big day for Guliyev!

If he'll run like he ran in russia, with a bit of wind he could running a sub 10.05 too. I hope very much, because this guy needs confirmation and a grade jump. A bit of lucky too.

slow times with the head wind and once again "no drive phase". he is off to the final which will run in about 1hr 20min. I hope the wind dies down for the final.

I'm thinking the same thing. the first race gatlin won in 10.4 w/ -5 wind. so I'm guessing he thought he could take it easy and still make the final.

I think he saved himself. Still no drive phase though. See what he does in about an hour. Did Collio make the final?

albinosprint do you know the time for Guliyev? the wind was -1.2

no, this broadcast stinks. they don't post the time after the race and there is no place on the website to find current results.
