I am not sure if anyone has started a thread on this in the past but I figured we should start up a thread of books all CF members should read. After seeing the CFB previews this season I decided I will be doing a lot more reading/self-taught learning this fall.

A couple of the obvious books I could recommend are to Orwell Classics: Animal Farm and 1984. Its amazing how these books can so easily be applied to modern day society.

Here is the previous thread on this topic:
Influential Literature

My recommendations still stand. And I'm currently in the middle of another book which I suspect I will add to my list.

Addendum:
My #1 recommendation isn't a book at all (and I didn't mention it in the other thread because I only discovered it this year).
I consider it an absolute imperative that all CF members (and all men, even homosexuals) read this article about Briffault's Law. There is no greater investment in personal security than arming yourself with the information contained therein. The implications are far-reaching and profound, as they serve to explain so much of how our world works and how we got to this point.

Since this is a football site by name, The North Dallas Forty is must reading for all football fans. It's a great look into what you used to watch, before it got even worse. The racial stuff is interestingly and somewhat realistically portrayed, even if some caste-speak works its way in via the author's admiration of the athleticism of the black players. Hey, it was Bob Hayes, and he really was REALLY fast. Even so, the curtain is lifted on the manipulation of what you see on Sunday, and it's pretty easy to surmise how the NFL got to its current state. It was corrupt before steroids, agents, and the caste system even got into full swing.

Gentlemen, I would also recommend the writings of Eric Hoffer, a working man's (he was a fruit picker and longshoreman - no bs about him - you can also see him on youtube) philosopher. "The True Believer" is his oustanding work.

Gentlemen, maybe you'd like to hear and see this man. Interesting guy. Knew how to put his hands on work and never looked down on physical labor or the men who did/do it. He was one of them from the top of his head to the bottom of his feet.

Hey everyone,

I'm going to be offering Amazon products on CF soon, and also am having an Amazon bookstore set up. List books on this thread that you'd like to see offered and I will do my best to make them available through this site. There will be only a limited number of titles available on CF at any given time, but the bookstore can sell an unlimited number of items, so let me know what sports books, books on politics, philosophy, history, etc., you'd like to see offered, as well as movies, sporting gear, and other items. Thanks.
