The wayI see it, if the powerplayers (such as Fred Jackson) who vigorously recruited McGuffie leave Michigan, Sam needs to start his selection process over. He is in control. Michigan needs Sam McGuffie much more than Sam McGuffie needs Michigan.

Like many posters on this forum, I'd like to see Sam at Notre Dame. I want to see Charlie Weiss prepare Sam for an NFL career at tailback.

Percisely stonewall!!! I hope Sam realizes that and knows that a new coach who comes could possibly only sees white guys as safeties and WRs. Now I know McGuffie is a pretty cocky kid(look at his photos) but I hope he's not too cocky to the point where he is blind to the mentality of some coaches who refuse to play white guys at TB.

Interesting thing to watch out in the future, the college and pro career of Sam's black backfield mate, Wesley Cobbs, he got slightly inferior stats than Sam, and Sam was hurt most of the year. If Cobbs makes it somewhere and Sam don't..... well, you know where I'm going with this...

No problem! I'm looking forward to hearing it while watching some of the Arkansas-LSU game replay.

McGuffie's high school career ended this past weekend with a playoff loss to North Shore. North Shore did a good job of stacking the box and stopping Sam. Cy Fair has no passing game so the offense was pretty much shut down.

Sam ends his career with 678 carries for 5685 yds and 78 TDs. This was accomplished in Texas' largest high school division (5A) and in one of the toughest districts in the state.

Hopefully he'll do something sick, something everyone will have to talk about.

No he won't. He'll never see the field.
Rich Rodriguez is a self-loathing white man. He fully believes that blacks are his superiors and he'll be damned if he ever lets a white kid run the ball out of his system. I don't think Sam has any choice now. He has to pick a different school.

Just being optimistic here, but maybe this can have the opposite effect. I don't think Michigan will have an RB nearly as good as McGuffie, so Rodriguez will pretty much have no choice. After seeing how great he performs, maybe it will change his, and other's opinion about white athletes, much the way that black "superstars" of the 60s and 70s opened up "racist" coaches' eyes to let them play.

There's a brand new article on Scout.com's recruiting page at the moment. "Sam McGuffie caught up with Scout.com to discuss his initial feelings on Rich Rodriguez." Requires a premium membership to Scout, which I don't have. Anybody know someone with such a membership? I'd like to hear what Sam thinks about his future.

I was reading some posts by Michigan fans on various boards, and they envisioned McGuffie as being a great fit for the new offense, comparing him to the next Steve Slaton.

I saw WVU play a lot in recent years, and their backs always ran through huge holes.

In regards to Schmitt, yes I agree he was underutilized as a runner. However, on the positive side, at least Rodriguez brought him to WVU. No one wanted Schmitt. Owen would mail tape and literally drive to each campus, knocking on doors. Ralph Friedgen didn't even give him a chance to walk-on. A horrible decision, which he'll realize first hand when he's laying on his couch again in January watching Schmitt in a BCS Bowl game.

McGuffie is positive but probably still reserving judgement. I think his decision right now rests entirely on whether or not Michigan retains running backs coach Fred Jackson.Edited by: jared

There's absolutely no mystery here. Rodriguez has succumbed completely to the poison of the "spread option". He truly believes that it is the final evolution of football offense*. Furthermore, being also brainwashed by the Caste System, he is convinced that there is only one 'right' way to run his spread option - with black sprinters at quarterback and runningback. Sam will NEVER start for Rich Rodriguez. This is a foregone conclusion. Sam must decommit.

(*much like coaches believed the triple option wishbone was the final, unstoppable evolution of football offense about 40 years ago)

Many in Michigan are happy at the hiring of Rodriguez but I know it will mean the end of the last vestige of whiteness of the Wolverines, the classic dropback pocket QB. Michigan will get even MORE caste friendly. McGuffie should get out of there as fast as possible. Although I think he'll stay because white recruits are as blind to the racial politics of their teams as the media.
