I think Payton and Loomis are on board, i think its the owner Benson that isnt. New Orleans is a majority black city and I think he feels pressured to keep the team majority black and listen to the dwf's (who worship the black players, some said the Snow Patrol didnt have enough "swagger" even though some of these black defensive players are softer than cookie dough, i read these scouting reports and its filled with safteys and linebackers who dont like to hit!) and the dbf's.
Hes a greedy sob and if he thinks something will hinder profit he wont do it. Problem is, its the Whites that buy the most tickets.
I mean why else would Payton have drafted Mike Hass and then kept Lance Moore? Fans said Hass caught everything in training camp and looked great, but he was simply "too slow" to be on the team. Suprise, hes put on the practice squad and then the bears scoop him up.
He brought in Todd Blythe who he talked highly of but fans didnt, Blythe is gone but yet players like Skylar Green remained on the practice squad (that guy is a mediocre return man and cant really play wr and has bounced around, but stays over Blythe)
Granted it did take Lance Moore a while to work his way with the team, in NFL Europe and Practice squad, his skin was just a little too light for fans for a while, (he looks very very light skinned, not really even black facial features) and they would call him a training camp beast which in their terms meant, not good. Well injuries happened to the main receivers, well Colston, and Moore led the team in receiving. If we had kept Hass he wouldve dominated, probably wouldve gotten over 1000 yards.
Brees threw for over 5,000 yards but no single player got 1,000 yards. If hes doing that with this WR corps, imagine if had the Saints kept Hass.
Fans screemed for drafting either glenn dorsey or sedrick ellis in last years draft, surpise, we tried to trade down and get dorsey, but they wouldnt do a deal, so we got Ellis. (fans think Ellis is the next coming of Sapp and talk about how we held Adrian Peterson to a very low amount yards). I rewatched the Vikings-Saints game and the guy clogging up the middle and allowing for Peterson to get stuffed was Brian Young, who fans "have been screaming to get rid of for years"
Fans screamed that Bullocks was horrible and to put in Kevin Keasviharn, who did better and allowed us to run more zone coverage to help out our pitiful cornerbacks but we still have a poor secondary, even though KK improved that secondary he was the scapegoat. Fans scream to get rid of him, suprise, hes gone.
He brought in the Snow Patrol and fans screamed for that to go even though they did a good job, they got rid of mark s (well demoted him), and got Vilma, well Sim had a back injury so he wouldnt have played last year anyway. But hes sticking to Shanle and Fujita (he speaks highly of both, and both really are good players, so was Mark S, but i think he wouldve been better as a WLB. He likes high character type players, who usually tend to be White. We shouldve drafted Paul Poz instead of Meachem who still cant learn the damn playbook. That way we would still have a Snow Patrol. We also have Dan Morgan who is coming back from retirement
He brough in Jeff Charleston from Idaho St who outperformed Will Smith in limited playing time, like a 10 snaps in 2 or 3 games. (3 sacks, yet Smith is paid like a top ten DE and looks like a DT). Hopefully they work hard to keep Charleston. Jared Allen also went to Idaho st, so i have high hopes for Charleston, if we keep him.
Payton also speaks highly of Stinchcomb who used to get bashed alot and made sure to get him a long term deal. He also got Brian Young (another scapegoat), a good solid DT to restructure his deal so he can continue to play.
The economy is getting bad and New Orleans also is still suffering from Katrina, so less people are willing to deal with overpaid affletes who cant stay in shape and do their job. (were gonna lose 4 players for 4 games next year i believe because they used starcaps to lose waterweight, but it also could have been to mask steroid use).
The problem is, 2 of those players, Grant and Smith would affect the salary cap if we got rid of them, and they are paid like top ten defensive ends.
Now fans are screaming to get Beanie Wells, and I hope Sean Payton doesnt cave in and do it. Beanie is not a Payton type player, first he cant catch, he likes players that are versatile, especially backs that can catch in this pass first offense. Second, the guy is not exactly a powerback, ive seen him run to the sidelines plenty of times instead of taking a hit. The only defenders ive seen him run into are defensive backs.
Hopefully we use Heath Evans as a powerback, ive stated my case and made a video of him running and quite a few fans feel like he can be our short yardage back (the saints personell do read that board so hopefully they are listening to that and not to the "draft beanie" threads every day.
I know they read it. Grant even used it as leverage for his big ass contract that he didnt deserve "but the fans on the Saintsreport really love me". benson too busy about filling seats and wound up wasting his money, now those same fans want him gone and there is nothing he can do about it.
Having said all of that, it would be very nice to draft Collie. Meachem is never going to learn the playbook. Devery can't catch to save his life. Adrian Arrington (who fans think is the next Colston) is unproven and had turf toe which can end careers, plus he wasnt even the main receiver at Michigan, Mario Manningham was, and Giants are still looking for a WR, that says how good he is, theres one game that Arrington had, against a young, poor Florida secondary. That leaves us with Colston and Moore and i think some return specialist who hasnt caught a pass in 3 years. So the addition of Collie would be very nice. Either him or Eric Peterman.Edited by: dwid
