so far white tight ends have been dominating. Clark hd an amazing game, Witten was Dallas best receiver in the defeat, Shockey is giving it all tonight (as usual, did you catch his reception when he lost a helmet in an attempted tackle, shook free of a defender and picked up extra three yards needed for first down)

also, Considine is a helluva tackler. he just put a big hit on Jeremy Shockey when others seemed little, ehm, overwhelmed

they also stated something like this: Eagles will be so dangerous when Donovan McNabb comes back... it is not like Garcia got them where they are, i guess...
 
I only watched a few minutes of the Giants-Eagles game, and had the unfortunate timing to catch Considine miss an important tackle on Plaxico Burress; soon after that Burress scored a TD. Dang it! Oh well, Considine's team won, no big deal.
 
David Akers won the game for the Eagles. He had 9 points, more than
Westbrook, whose picture is being flashed all over the media outlets.
 
Well,once again the playoffs prove to beexciting and hard fought games. After watching all the quarterbacks perform, I would have to say again, thatno one playsas well as Tom Brady in BIG games. NO BODY - NO HOW! Having said that, I don't think the Pats are good enough to beat the Chargers next week in San Diego.
 
i freakin hope so! even if Patriots are inconsistent as far playing their white players goes (giving a ball to Evans, throwing to Thomas, not even mentioning Mills) they are still much more fun to watch than Chargers, who start 1 white on defense and none at skill positions (apart from Rivers, of course)

I was surprised to see that seven of the Giants starters on offense were white. It looked like five of the O-line were white, with Manning and Shockey the other two.

Shockey is the man, I don't care what the MSM says about the guy. The play that backrow mentioned where Shockey lost his helmet was an awesome display of how the game should be played. His helmet came off; he lowered his shoulder and slammed into two more players before he went down. What they didn't show on the replay, however, was the Eagle defender that headbutted Shockey on purpose after the tackle. Did anybody else see that?
 
Peyton Manning said that the two passes intended for Harrison that were INT were his fault. He threw them to the wrong spot.

What do you think? Is Manning taking the blame because HE misread the defense and threw to the wrong spot, or is he 'manning' up and just taking responsibility?

If they were routes, I'd say it's Harrison. If it were option routes, it gets harder to tell. Was Manning moving a lot in the pocket when he threw the picks? The Chiefs do have a better than average front four, especially with Jared Allen manhandling Tarik Glenn.
 
Last year, when the Colts lost to the Steelers in the playoffs, Manning got in trouble for blaming the offensive line for the loss. I guess Manning has learned from that.
 
Much as I disliked that he did so last year, I find myself reversing my position. Does anyone here check out Football Outsiders? They break down plays and players, and don't seem to be caste supporters, but they had an article about centers. Maybe Manning was right to blame the O-line; the center makes the protection calls.
 
So far, so good for the playoffs. For the remaining teams the white starters are:

Saints 9
Pats 8-9
Colts 7-8
Chargers 4-5
Seattle 4-5
Bears 4-5
Eagles 4
Ravens 4

The Jets only started 3 whites on the whole team. Pathetic!

Let's hope for a Saints-Pats Super Bowl. That would be the least racist possibility.
 
yeah, i want Pats to meet Saints in the SB.

i would hate for Chargers and Merriman to advance to SB, let alone win it... Seattle has no notable whites to speak of, other than Wistrom on D. if Bears win, defense (and therefore Urlacher and Hillenmeyer to some extent take the credit).
 
My first choice in the AFC is the Colts and Peyton Manning. Second choice is the Pats. I'd prefer either of those teams over the Chargers or Ravens, but really.... as long as it ain't the Raven, I'm good.

In the NFC, I still think from a caste-busting POV the Eagles are the best choice, but only if Garcia plays well and carries the team. His performance against the Giants was decent, but Westbrook got all the credit. I like Drew Brees, but who else is there to root for on the Saints? Same with the rest of the NFC.

As for the Super Bowl itself, Colts all the way. I'd like Peyton to get a ring so everybody will get off his back.

I'm pulling for the Saints; even if it is a chocolate city, I'd like to see them do well for once. Plus, if not now, when will Brees likely have another shot at it?
 
I too wish the Saints were just a little whiter on offense, 2 more whites wouldn't hurt to boost it to 11 total - but my thing is, a lack of a better choice for a team?
 
It's typical of white stars like Peyton Manning to accept the blame themselves, when the alternative is to blame a black teammate (like Harrison). On the other hand, Peyton had no problem last year blaming (justifiably so) his offensive line, because it is almost all white. He was still criticized for pointing fingers elsewhere, whereas blacks (who blame others for their mistakes about as often as Paris Hilton is photographed) are never criticized for doing so. He also had no problem lashing out at his white placekicker, Mike Vanderjadt, calling him a "liquored up idiot" (or words to that effect). Neither Manning nor any other white NFL player would EVER call any black player a name like that in public. I was impressed by Tony Romo's selfless, heartfelt reaction to fumbling the field-goal snap at the end of the playoff game, and his pubicly proclaiming that he was sole reason Dallas lost. My question is this; can anyone imagine ANY black player ever accepting total responsibility for a team loss? Could anyone come up with a single example of a black athlete accepting the responsibility for his own mistakes in such a moving, honest way? Somehow, I wasn't suprised that Marvin Harrison didn't hold a press conference and accept at least partial blame for those interceptions. Can you picture Marvin (let alone the truly obnoxious diva black WRs like Chad or Keyshawn Johnson) telling the press, "look, I ran the wrong route, so I accept at least some of the blame for that interception." How about T.O. ever apologizing for all of his many, many drops during the season?

Saw a McDonald's sponsored spot on the pre-game show. It was for the best hits of the playoffs.

Guess what play was in the #1 spot?

"And Shockey gets hit by a flock of Eagles," voiced over the play where Shockey lost his helmet and kept knocking over Eagle defenders. About 4-5 Eagles bounced off him before he went down.

But HE was the one who was getting hit, according to these TV idiots.

I'm already in a bad f***ing mood after reading the story posted by Son of Radovan in the Duke thread... it's just going to get worse the more TV I watch today.
 
wow, Seahawks started 2 whites out of 22... plus Lofa Tatupu.

Actually it's three -- Hasselbeck, Gray and Wistrom, but your point is well taken. This is the blackest of the four playoff games this weekend. Both teams start just one white on the o-line and both have black TEs and black just about everywhere else.
 
Is there any redeeming quality about either of these teams? I'm leaning towards the Bears merely because of Urlacher. I'd like to see Grossman perform better so he won't be the goat if the Bears lose.. but other than that, I can't think of a reason to root for either of these teams.
