Do we on this forum consider the Ravens D to be overrated? Because I think the case can be made that without Peyton Manning at quarterback, the Colts lose that game. Okay, and without Vinatieri or other competent kicker.
It's true that the Ravens dropped a couple of potential interceptions that might have changed the course of the game. But Manning made a number of good throws during the game that kept Colts' drives alive.
I thought the Colts' running game exceeded expectations, but the stats tell a different story: 95 yards on 32 carries, for a 2.9 YPC average.
The Colts won because Manning made some clutch throws when needed; the receivers didn't drop the ball; Rhodes made some runs for big gains when it counted; and Vinatieri booted the ball through the uprights.
I've only read one or two articles that have criticized Steve McNair for his performance, who's stats mirrored Manning's in that game practically pass for pass and yard for yard.. and INT for INT. McNair showed 'tremendous leadership in defeat...McNair is a real warrior.. he exudes confidence.. the feeling in the entire locker room changes when McNair walks in.. he has a presence about him...'
I realize we have higher expectations of Manning, and rightly so. But the double standard is so glaring... I gotta wear shades.
