Wow, I remember him being an overrated player from my childhood but never looked at his stats. He’s actually a terrible player. 77 career touchdown throws vs 84 career interceptions. Not one season where he averaged more than 200 yards passing per game. As a running QB, he also wasn’t that impressive. 400-500 yards at best.

I see that the team won a good amount during those years, so I’m guessing that extended his tenure. Did the media and DWFs pull the “all he do is win” routine?

No. He was a bad QB. The main problem was that Bill Cowher kept starting him year after year, and in most of those years Kordell had no backup to speak of because Cowher thought he was too delicate to have competition. Both Cowher and Stewart were hated on a lot, with lots of nasty rumors going around that they were homosexual lovers. Believe me, in DWF Steeler Nation, as the years went on (and on and on), Kordell had very few supporters, that's why I mentioned him. It surprises me that you younger guys actually think he was regarded as good; if anything Kordell Stewart set the Great Black Quarterback Experiment back a number of years.

Due to multiple injuries on the d-line, Henry Mondeaux was recalled from the practice squad and recorded a sack Sunday while playing 28% of the snaps.

The Steelers sport a terrible all-sumo o-line, but on defense they currently have two White starters in Watt and Schobert, and three backups -- Mondeaux, Spillane and Tuszka, definitely the most White defensive players during Mike Tomlin's 15 year run, and Bill Cowher's 15 year run also for that matter.

I saw Mondeaux’s sack in real time - it was a great play. Glad to see him getting playing time. Was Aaron Smith or Brett Keisel the last defensive lineman to play for the Steelers?

I remember for a time in the 2000s the Steelers had Smith, Keisel and Hoke (who more than held his own anchoring the 3-4 when Casey Hampton was injured).

Smith and Keisel both started at DE in their 3-4 and both were very good, particularly Smith, who unsurprisingly was very under-rated. And Hoke was indeed a really solid tackle, could have started for many teams and should have for the Steelers as Hampton faded.

Simple solution. Start Spillane and Schobert together at MLB. If Bush is really a 4.4 guy slide him into that hybrid LB/SS role! Start all 3. Couple extra DBs are mostly useless anyways!

Sounds like this article confirms Haskins is Tomlin's pet QB. If Haskins is gifted the starting job next year it will be pretty damn funny. My gut says they will draft Sam Howell.

If I were the Steelers I'd go after Mitch Trubisky in the off season. I'd offer a three year contract at $8 million a year. That sounds about right.

I’d go with Mitch and trade down my first round pick for someone else’s 27th pick and a third rounder or two....If the 22nd pick isn’t someone you love, trade it for 2 or 3 day two picks over the next year or so......Load up on day two guys.....You will have a more solid overall team.....GM’s listen up.....Don’t get wood over 40 times and athleticism...
Can the kid play football? My guess is Tomlin is heavily invested in giving this quota every chance. Pretty sure Colbert is gone after the draft. I think he wants to draft Howell out of UNC. Haskins was awful in the final preseason game against the Panthers - playing against guys who were mostly cut and yet he is being viewed as an asset by the Steelers.

It's obvious Tomlin has the Steelers head coach job on lock down similar to a supreme court justice, I think only BB could hire the potentially toxic Flores for his coaching staff and not have drama with upper management and ownership of a franchise.

May be an overreaction, but Steelers will be back to being the Crawford's again with Big Ben retired. All signs point to them Drafting Malik Willis has his heir. Can almost guarantee Schobert and Spillane will be purged.

I've always thought there's a bit of merit to the idea that a white player could get a more fair shake under a black coach. They have plenty of semi-subconscious biases against white players, but not the true wilful anti-white bias in their souls. Unlike many of their actual white coaches (I know that's a mouthful)
