New CEO was hired,Coonelly, and the first thing he said was what a poor job the Pirates had done in signing hispanics and asians to play. So he said he would concentrate on hiring and scouting in those areas. So it sounds like hispanic and asian heaven are coming to the Bucs. Bye bye white guys.

What would all major league clubs do if they had to depend on Asian and Latin fans to fill up their ballparks?
uh...maybe they are telling us that when said groups fill up our American cities, that "will"be their fan base!

The Pirate announcers spoke to new CEO Frank Coonelly by phone last night from Houston, during the baseball game.Mr.Coonelly was quick to point out that 44% of major league players come from Latin America, and that the Pirates will be very aggressive in scouting and bringing to the Pirates, more Latin talent.

There are thoughts of building a new facility in that part of the world to teach and enhance Latin players to play here. The subliminal message is being sent early by Mr.Coonelly, that Latins are better baseball players than White Americans.

That of course is,in my mind,is not true.We just have to look as far as the college world series each year to see the best of our own players, these players are 98% White Americans, and are the best of the best.As we are constantly being told that multiculturalism and diversity are the paths to follow, perhaps a subliminal message can be sent to the social engineers who are attempting to transform all American sports,as well as our cities

That message,we will be loyal to our own, first! They are the best of the best.

It is frustrating. Nyjer Morgan made another great catch giving him 2 excellent catches so far. They never shut up about the catches, even saying that is why the Pirates won both games. This overlooks the fact that he is batting .207 and is virtually an automatic out every at bat. But he is the new black hope in Pittsburgh. On the other hand if you run McLouths stats out over 500 at bats you have one of the better players on the team. But it appears the dye has been cast. When Bay and Nady come back Morgan will play and McLouth and Pearce, batting over .300, will go to the bench. I realize that Morgan is a good defensive player, but he cannot hit. And the press is running his catches into the ground. Oh well, can't stop "progress" I guess.

Nyjer Morgan made a few great catches in the final month of the season, but he also screwed up some routine plays, and he needs a lot more work on OF fundamentals before a possible role as a backup MLB OF.

McClouth performed well, offensively and defensively, when he got regular chances ot play. I`m not sold on him as an everyday CF, but he is a capable player.

Duffy is the wildcard for next year. Jim Tracy screwed him up from day one, and, when you throw in his shoulder problems, it`sno wonder he struggled at times. He`s got a lottoprovenext Spring Training.

I really hope Pearce can make the adjustment to the OF because I think he has a solid future as abig league hitter.

McCutchen has a lot of potential, but we`ll see in 2008 if he can develop in a full season at AAA.

Of course, all the Pirates` diversity proponents will want Morgan and McCutchen manning two OF spots for the Bucs as soon as possible in 2008, and will want guys like Bay and Nady traded away.

A non White lead off hitting center fielder is what,in my mind, all MLB teams are shooting for,a subliminal message is sent by the elite, telling us,this is the player that will spark us to get the game started in a positive way,and then we can showcase him on defense in the marquee position that is centerfield.

They are already crying for Bay to be traded and maybe Nady as well. If not Bay then just Nady. I look for Bay to be moved and then Nady would play left. At least that would clear a space in right for Pearce. He has nothing left to prove in AAA. Of course that also means center is left to Morgan, a 27 year old rookie that is still learning the game. A lot of speed but a poor bunter, something he needs to learn. You cant steal first. He did a fair job in limited time but ultimately McCutchen should be "given" center. But you are right. They want McCutchen in left and Morgan in center with the token white, Pearce, in left.

And here we go with the new GM and CEO. They designated our second best pinch hitter and bench player, Matt Kata, for assignment today while adding a .143 28 year old outfielder Kevin Thompson to the roster in his place. Guess which one is white and which one is black.

I am so tired of the battle. I swear it gets so hard hearing dumb dumb white "fans" moan about the lack of diversity on the Pirates and all of baseball. I looked on the Pirates board today and they have a thread about "Is Baseball Dying?". The whole jist of the thread is because blacks are ignoring baseball basically young people don't care about it. And they make a point to say ignore the full stands and the money coming in. That really it is dying and will go away when only the young of today have to become the paying customer of tomorrow. I just give up. I swear the caste system is winning. It is too ingrained in these idiots minds and I don't see it changing. I could care less if no blacks play the game. But we still must hear how the game is dying simply because they are not. And yet no one mentioned how baseball pretty much out pulled basketball in attendance figures. Heaven forbid, we say basketball is not filling up their arenas, not when it is virtually all black at least. The inference is white sports will die while the black ones continue on.
Then they had another post about how the Pirates must improve and the first thing of course was how they had to sign mainly hispanics. Even though baseball is loaded with them, as well as Pittsburgh, according to these mind numbing idiots, we do not have enough. Lord, I am so tired of this.

I sure do understand your frustration, let em say anything that they want,In Pittsburgh, there are many fine high school,college,semi-pro baseball teams that are fun to watch, along with the Washington Wild Things,of the Pioneer league,a solid minor league choice.

Skipperron: I`m really curious to see what happens with Nyjer Morgan from Spring Training. According to reports outof the AFL, he made some nice plays and all, but, considering he was the oldest player there from what I read, he probably should`ve had some success. I just wonder how the new brass will view him? To my mind, he`s not much of an MLB prospect. I don`t think he will ever hit, not even at a comparable level toNate McClouth or Chris Duffy, but in the never-ending, wrong-headed chase for diversity, some will undoubtedly say that a few highlight reel plays make him a bonafide big leaguer. I know I`ve said some of this before, but I just dread the thought of wasting a significant chunk of 2008 giving the black CF with the "great smile" a chance to be the everyday CF, when one look at his game should tell you he can`t play. Maybe an AL team could use hima little as apinch runner and late-inning defensive replacement if heimproves his fundamentals.

Yeah, it looks like he still is considered the starting center fielder with everything I have read. So the change in leadership has not changed that. And I have read that if Bay is traded Morgan could even take over in left and then bring up the other part of our black superstar tandem, Andrew McCutcheon to play center. Also, the Pirates released the one guy who single handedly saved our bench, Josh Phelps. They claimed he could only hit and not play enough positions. So now they have placed an offer to Chris Gomez a 36 year old has been that never was to take his spot. And wow, why he can play a position. And the more important point is the fact that he is hispanic. This stinks.

The Pirates have signed veteran infielder Chris Gomez to a one year,1 million dollar contract, even though according to the signing story,at www.pirates.com,"his range is somewhat limited".

Gomez has played for 15 years, and has been with 8 teams.Pittsburgh native Neil Walker, also a solid infield prospect has no major league experience,so not much is mentioned about him.

But also mentioned in the same story, reliever Marino Salas appears ready for major league action, even though he has no major league experience....,interesting!

The Pirates have also shown interest in Japanese reliever Kazuo Fukumori.

LabMan: I agree with you that the Gomez signing is lame and doesn`t give Pittsburgh much of anything for $1 million.
However, I don`t see the connection with anything related to Neil Walker. Walker is far from MLB ready and is not a utility player like Gomez in the first place. Walker just started learning 3B after moving from catcher and most certainly can`t play a middle infield position. He needs more time at AAA and there are concerns about his hitting because of a previous wrist injury.
Anyway, if you`re worried about race, Gomez looks pretty white to me.
I don`t have any problem with the Pirates looking to an Asian player or two to help the team. Even though Masumi Kuwata did little in 2007 to help them on the field, and will probably be just an extra AAA pitcher in 2008, MLB is an international sport whether we like it or not. To my mind, the most important thing is that there are fewer American black players in recent years as we all know, and this fact pisses off people like Joe Morgan and like ilk.

The trend in all sports has been, replace the White American male, the Neil Walker connection is,although positions are different, reliever Marino Salas, with no major league experience may be ready to move into a relief role with the Pirates.

Walker may not be ready to play at the major league level, but the assumption appears that an untested reliever is.Walker was changed from a catcher to a third baseman, and Ronny Paulino was inserted as the every day catcher, and the results were less than satisfactory.

Neil Walker,in my opinion, could have done as good a job behind the plate as Paulino,if he had not had his position changed.
The issue is not with Chris Gomez,or how the Pirates spend their money.Taking a look around both leagues,it is clear to see that Latin catchers are being moved ahead of the White American catchers, are they more talented?no.

More help in the catching Dept.,after losing catchers Carlos Maldonado and Humberto Cota,I wondered if Neil Walker would be switched back to his original position of catcher.

It was not to be,as the Bucs have signed catchers Miguel Perez, and Michel Hernandez,it is the sixth organization for the 29 year old Hernandez. Also signed was, Jorge Velandia,a 32 year old middle infielder,in his 17th year of pro ball.

The Pirates are trying to bring 39 year old pitcher Masumi Kuwata back to the team, his first year ERA was 9.43,but he was known as a solid citizen in the club house!Edited by: LabMan

Lab Man: I don`t see your point here. Neil Walker`s move to third base in 2007 has been looked upon by most observers of the Pirates as a positive one for his future.

If Walker shows the necessary development at AAA in 2008, he will get every chance to replace Jose Bautista as the Bucs everyday third baseman in 2009. If Bautista doesn`t show more-especially offensivelynext season-he will be too expensive for them to keep in 2009, and Walker will move into his spot in the best case scenario.

Was Walker evena dominant player at AA last season? No, he was not. And he understandably struggled at times defensively while learning a new position. The signing of some Hispanic catchers by the organization was not an anti-white move, it was a good baseball decision.

As for bringing Masumi Kuwata back for a second season, I think it`s a waste of money for the most part. The first time for a reported $500,000 was a business decision to get the Pirates`name into the Japanese press in order to have a chance to sign future Japanese players. The only rationale I can see for the Pirates to bring back Kuwata again is to give him a jobfrom2009 as a sort of "liason" for theBucsin Japan to help them scout and sign talent. If you want to believe this is unnecessary and an anti-white move, go right ahead, but it is also reality.

I think you can imagine from my user name that I want to see as many white players as possible in MLB, especially for my favorite team, the Pittsburgh Pirates. But I also accept that sometimes the Pirates, as with all MLB teams, have to look beyond white Americans to expand their talent base in an increasingly international sport. If anything, the Pirates haven`t done enough with their scouting and signing of players outside the U.S. for many years. When a decision is made that I think is nonsense-and an unfair anti-white one-like the nonsensical love affair the media had with Nyjer Morgan and promoting him to be the everyday CF over McClouth and Duffy in 2008,I`ll point it out.

VanSlyke,

Interesting points all, first off, should anyone feel that I'm obsessed with Neil Walkers playing ability, that is not the case, can you say that i'm passionate about supporting our White American players first, just so.I will ask you if Ronny Paulino is of major league caliber behind the plate, and could Neil Walker have done any better?,Did the Pirates move walker to third base to open the door for a Latin catcher?

I have stated before that it is my opinion that White American catchers are being replaced in both leagues with Latins,so we can be shown subliminally, that the White player can be replaced in such a position of importance with a non-white player, the same situation is taking place with center fielders, and for that matter,in the American business world.

Is the American sporting press and electronic media biased against the White athelete, well, thats why this site has been created,so when you write that Walker did not really stand out at the AA level,or the catching position, are you being influenced by that very media?

Baseball is an American game, played in American cities,in American stadiums,so when someone says it's a good idea to sign international players, why is that so?,and has that thought been implanted in our minds by the very media that is promoting multiculturalism in not only sports, but all areas of our lives in the U.S. today.

Of course, all are free to support and cheer for any player, from any locale, but when the elite see 3 million fans, most all White, embracing a Detroit Tiger team, consisting of players that are much different than themselves, perhaps they are saying,"observe,we are replacing their own kind, playing the American pastime, and there is no resistance"!

The globalist/social engineers, have and will continue to tell us that Latin players, and those from around the world have more talent, but that is the big lie that has been implanted by again, the controlled media! One only has to look at the terrific White American players in the college world series each year, where do they go?,are they "ethnically cleansed",out of the game they have loved all of their lives?,I believe so,as do most folks posting at this site.

One only has to look at the pitchers that the Pirates are signing, bringing up, protecting etc. for the next seasons bullpen and you will get an idea about this rush to sign hispanics. Virtually everyone in the pen will be black or hispanic. Capps and Grabow are white. The others they are talking about are black or hispanic. And of course the Pirates carry what seems like 50 pitchers. The starters are the only part of the staff that is predominantly white. I continually hear that we have not done enough to sign hispanics as if they are inheritantly better athletes or ball players than American ones. Sort of the same thing we heard with blacks being better athletes. And I just read where they are questioning the Red Sox. It was stated that if they do trade Coco Crisp (Lord, what a name) that they would be virtually all white and that is, of course, wrong. And should they be condemned for it? What a load of you know what. And yet I never hear anyone in the media complain about the all black team Jacksonville Jags put on the field. Just white teams.

The Pirates are in a rush to sign every washed up horrible latin pitcher or catcher they can just to add hispanic influence.

Lord, the Pirates have now added Elmer Dessens, a washed up 37 year old hispanic to the staff. And it looks like they are counting on him to be the set up man. Plus they also signed 34 year old hispanic outfielder Jose Macias and 23 year old hispanic shortstop Gabe Alverez. They are signing every player that even looks or sounds hispanic in a rush to go brown. So many complained they did not have enough hispanics that Huntington has decided to turn this team into Montreal in Pittsburgh. I remember how DIVERSE that team was and now Pittsburgh is trying to see how close they can come to it. And the Pirates, like always, is doing it the cheap way.

The Pirates are building an academy in the Dominican Republic,it will be located in El Toro.

"Latin America needs to be an even greater priority for our ballclub"!,said Mr Bob Nutting.

Perhaps fans in Pittsburgh wonder if an academy will be built in middle America!

Yeah, they could pick any large city in America and call it a Latin American Academy

The position of catcher has always been of interest to me,and many other baseball fans that I know, many catchers are elevated to managers at the major league level because of their intelligence and understanding of the game, the label,"field general",has been given by many folks who really appreciate what catchers do.

The Pirates have announced that Ronny Paulino will again be the starter behind the plate for the 2008 season, they have also signed another catcher to a minor league deal,Raul Chavez has a nine year career, and a batting average of .212 and 40 rbi's in 169 M/L games.

LabMan/Skipperron:

Here are my thoughts on a few points you`ve brought up in recent weeks:

Ronny Paulino is a terrible catcher. I think he willbe the starting catcher onOpening Day, but they will be looking at him to either improve, or head to the bench/another team.I`m disturbed as you guys are about the bias toward using Hispanic catchers these days. Perhaps thescouts believe the brown guys possess a little extra wiggle in the hips to help them get out of a crouch and throw out runners more easily.

If we`re going to build a new academy in the Dominican Republic, we should have to do the same thing in the U.S. Each team should be responsible within a clearly defined geographical area for supporting such a facility.

Elmer Dessens is crap. But no more so than John Wasdin was in 2007. In addition to Capps and Grabow, others such as Burnett, Bullington and JVB will be given every chance to make the team out of the pen. Also, the Rule 5 draftee, Evan Meek, will obviously get every reasonable chance to make the team, too.

Most of the signings of Hispanic playerslately are playerson minor league contracts who are to be used as depthat AAA or below: Jose Macias, Gabe Alvarez, Miguel Perez, Michel Hernandez, Jorge Velandia etc. Yes, I would behappier if they were signing morewhite guys to player contracts for any level of the organization, but I think most of these are just signings of necessity for the farm.

Most of the problemsthe Pirates have right now with a lack of talent in the organization from top to bottom are directly related to thep*ss-poor job that Kevin McClatchy, Cam Bonifay, Dave Littlefield and Co. did the pastdecade before being shown thedoor. Unfortunately, I think there will be at least another poor season or two before we can reasonably expect the team to contend. And this is a best case scenario.

Finally, the Detroit Tigersdarkening situation is disgusting.

On a brighter note, hope springs eternal and spring training gets closer by theday!

The Pirates have added another catcher, Carlos Maldanado. He is the same Carlos Maldanado that we released earlier but hey we need another hispanic catcher to compete for the backup spot. ON a brighter note they are attempting to sign Paul Bako since they could not get Estrada. UGH. He may be white but he is terrible. And the major problem is they are only looking at strictly backup catchers. None of the names mentioned would be worth a crap if Paulino went down with an injury. Just imagine a starting spot for Perez, Hernandez or Maldanado should that happen. Or Bako for that matter. And they are not including Ryan Doumit, a guy who is no worse defensively than Paulino, behind the plate. Instead they are counting on Doumit to be a backup in the outfield and first, further holding down Steven Pearce.
