Canfora believes Paxton Lynch is on the verge of a breakout season

Denver Broncos quarterback Paxton Lynch was already named a player ready to break out earlier this month by FOX Sports, but now he made another list. CBS Sports’s Jason La Canfora included Lynch in a list of players ready to break out in 2017.

Canfora states that Lynch’s mind is catching up to his body and that he believe’s Lynch will be a “handful” for opposing defenses by the end of the season.

This is a case where the hype surrounding his work this spring grabs my attention. He was the perfect candidate for what amounted to a redshirt year in 2016, and his athletic prowess and physical ability won't be as limited by his lack of experience under center, and in a pro-style offense, in 2017.

Lynch's mind is catching up to his body, and John Elway moved up to take him in the first round a year ago for a reason. His new offensive coordinator, Mike McCoy, is uniquely experienced in developing this kind of athlete.

The sophomore signal-caller will make his share of mistakes and throw some picks, but I also believe the scope of this offense will expand considerably and that Demaryius Thomas will get his swag back. Lynch will be a handful by the end of the season. I like his chances of succeeding with this defense backing him and that franchise having been limited by an inability to get yards in chunks since the rapid demise of Peyton Manning's arm.

The Broncos really hope that Canfora’s prediction for Lynch and their offense is accurate.

9NEWS Denver’s Mike Klis recently wrote that a “flip has switched” with Lynch and that he really started making his move on fellow quarterback Trevor Siemian during the final two weeks of the Broncos OTA’s and Minicamp practices.

His switch was flipped. He started to get it. He started to play as if he was doing just that – playing. Playing and not thinking about his protections and hot reads and coverages and delivering the ball on time.

So if Lynch continues to make strides this summer during Training Camp and the Preseason and is able to win the starting job, he may very well be a “breakout player” in 2017.

Pro Football Focus also shared some interesting facts and information on Paxton Lynch from his college days. The Broncos hope the production Lynch had in college will translate to the field this upcoming season.

• Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch may be closing the gap with Trevor Siemian in competition for the starting quarterback role with the Broncos, according to Mike Klis at 9News. With OTAs are complete across the league, the Broncos begin their 2017 training camp on July 27th. Drafted in the first round in 2016, Lynch’s performance over his final season at the University of Memphis showed potential as his adjusted completion percentage of 77.1 was fourth among 26 draft eligible quarterbacks with at least 300 snaps.
• His 126.5 passer rating on deep (20-plus yard) passes was the highest mark among draft-eligible quarterbacks with at least 56 attempts and his accuracy percentage of 71.1 while under pressure ranked second among 26 quarterbacks with a minimum of 107 dropbacks under pressure.
• Lynch posted the highest overall grades among Denver’s quarterbacks in his three 2016 preseason starts at 74.8, 72.8, and 68.6. He struggled in the three games in which he had the majority of snaps at quarterback during the regular season, however. If he’s taken a big step forward going into his sophomore season, lifting his performance under pressure to near his college numbers could be key behind Denver’s work-in-progress offensive line.

He was 49 of 83 for 59%, 2 TDs and 1 interception, 497 passing yards and another 24 rushing, and a QB rating of 79.2 and a won-loss record of 1-1. Not bad at all, hardly the definition of an instant bust, especially with such a tiny sample of work. No he wasn't as polished as Siemian, but he was/is raw due to the system he played in college, with lots of "mouth watering upside".

Woody Paige, the best known Denver football writer (though I can't stand him), says Lynch has 6 weeks to prove himself. That's probably about right for a White QB these days, even one drafted in the first round: "Paxton Lynch has six weeks to establish if he is a Bronco or a Bust.

This is typical of leftist propaganda. They want something to be true so they declare it to be true even though it isn't. Then they set about making it true. Unfortunately they're successful at this much of the time.

Vance Joseph is a terrible head coach. He was hired because he's black, not because he was the best candidate for the job. He's an "affirmative action" hire.

One of the stupid things Joseph did was get rid of outstanding defensive coordinator Wade Phillips and replace him with an AA coach. The defense under Phillips is the main reason they won a Super Bowl. Now the defense is nowhere near as good as it was.

I think the Chiefs should be starting Tyler Bray instead of the rookie Mahomes. If Smith goes down then the veteran Bray would be more likely to win a playoff game. They should give Bray the reps to get him ready.

Broncos QB turns to Tom Brady's body guru to turn career around

When the Denver Broncos drafted quarterback Paxton Lynch in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, they expected that he would serve as the successor to Peyton Manning. Instead, Lynch has struggled immensely in his two-year NFL career and now has the Broncos looking elsewhere. But in the face of losing his place in the Mile High City, Lynch is looking to fight for his place as an NFL quarterback.

According to a report by Tom Pelissero on NFL Network, Lynch has begun working with body coach Alex Guerrero, most notable for his work with New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady on alternative medicine and Brady's TB12 brand.

Pelissero states that Guerrero recently flew to Orlando, Florida to work with Lynch, and that Lynch will in turn fly to Foxboro, Massachusetts in April in order to continue working with him. According to Pelissero, the two parties will work together on "deep tissue stuff" as well as Lynch's nutrition.

News of Lynch's working with Guerrero comes just days after Broncos head coach Vance Joseph defended Lynch, stating that it was unfair to write Lynch off as a draft bust after only making only four starts in his NFL career.

"Paxton’s had, what, four or five starts, 4 ½ starts?" said Joseph in a report by Mike Klis of 9News. "To deem Paxton not capable, that’s not fair. Obviously, it’s an age of instant gratification for all of us, for media, but it takes time to play quarterback in this league. I think once Paxton gets more time he’s going to be better as a quarterback.

"By no means Paxton Lynch is done. By no means at all. He’s shown enough in practice. Even in the games he’s played, I think he can play the position. He needs more time. That’s simply it. So, wherever we go in the draft with the first pick it doesn’t speak that we’re disappointed in Paxton. We believe in Paxton."

Despite being drafted as the Broncos' quarterback of the future in 2016, Lynch failed to earn the starting job in training camp two years in a row and has done little to make a convincing argument that he can live up to his draft billing. In his NFL career, Lynch has played in five games (Starting four), completing 61.7 percent of his passes with four touchdowns and four interceptions. In the wake of Lynch's struggles, the Broncos signed breakout star quarterback Case Keenum in free agency, and have been the subject of speculation that they may draft another quarterback with the No. 5-overall pick in the NFL Draft.

In spite of what the Broncos do, it at least seems that Lynch is not going to sit idly by and see his status as the Broncos' future be stripped from him.
