Man oh man is this summer ever heating up.It would be so much better to watch these races on tv instead of our US Nationals which almost never have any white sprinters there other than Wariner & Rock.

Paul Hession is a force to be reckoned with.I can't belive how quickly he has risen up.We need to keep an eye on him. Also, congrats to Guus Hoogmoed who has had a very solid career and is still running fast.

I'm glad that Paul Hession and Guus Hoogmoed have made the A Standard for the World Championships. You have to run 10.21 or faster. They join Craig Pickering,Matic Osovnikar and Adam Miller so far.John Woods made the standard but is hurt with a knee injury. That is why Woods didn't compete at the US Nationals. It's too bad because he was off to a great season until the injury.

Hopefully Yepishin,Kuc,and Blum will make the standard soon along with a few others unmentioned.I'm a little frustrated that Tobias Unger is injured. He is capable of incredible times over the 100 and 200.Let's hope he can get healthy in time for worlds.

Paul Hession will be running against the big boys in Sheffield,England on Sunday in the 200 meters. It is possible that he could set another p.b. The race is loaded.Let's hope he has the luck of the Irish because there is no doubt about his skill.

Wariner will be racing in the 400 against a stacked field! He needs to get back into good form before the World Championships.

Paul finished in 4th place in a nice time of 20.44 wind legal. He beat M.Devonish who is in top form this season. It was rainy and cold so it makes his time even more impressive. This is one fast irishman.

cold and wet can be a whiteman's dream. I can speak from experience that blacks tend to tighten up to much in bad conditions and white still seem to ran half way decent.

Hession is have a great year, i hope he can set some more PR's before the seasons out.

Holy cow!Paul Hession just won the Irish National Championships in the 200 meters. He had very little competition,no wind and still ran a new Irish Record Time of 20.30!This guy is quite a talent. He has the potential to be the next Kosta Kenteris.Paul was in school to be a doctor but gave it all up to pursue his sprinting career. He has not even come close to what he is capable of.Give him two more years and he could very well be running sub 20's.Here is to the best Irish Sprinter that has ever lived most likely.I hope he inspires many more to come.Keep it up Paul!

Collio and Hession well in the mix. Hession beat some pretty decent
sprinters here in the 200

Paul Hession finished 2nd today at Bislett in at time of 20.48 in the 200 meters. He beat alot of good competition. It was his first race in the deuce this season so it was a great opener for sure. I'm anxious to see what he can do in the 100 in a few weeks. I still say he is the fastest irishman that I have ever seen and I will have to cheers with a Guinness for that! Keep it up Paul.

On a side note, John Woods ran a 10.28 last weekend in Australia. Jared Connaugton races this Sunday in Greece. Let's hope he can improve on his 10.15 the last time out. Good luck to JayConn!

In case you guys didn't know, Paul Hession and his coach have decided to only run in the individual 200 meters races at the olympics. I'm a little dissapointed but I will still be rooting him on. I think he has a better chance of getting close to 10 seconds flat versus trying to run 200 meters in around 20 seconds. In my opinion that is even harder. Regardless, I really enjoy watching Paul run and I will root for him in what ever even he chooses. I was just hoping he was going to try and double. Here is a cool little video. Enjoy.

Hession ran a 10.23 for 3rd and a 20.55 for 1st place at a meet in Spain today.
The more surprising news is that David Rodriguez of Spain won the 100m over Hession and Francis Obikwelu, the European champion, in 10.14. I believe that's a new Spanish record.

Angel David Rodriguez is a skinny little white boy who ran a 10.18 in 2007 and a 20.74 200 into negative wind this year. He's also run a 6.65 60 meters. At 28 he's probably not one of our biggest hopes, but he's the best so far this year and he ties Pickering's performance of last year.

That is a very nice time for the Spaniard. Way to go David. I'm shocked that Francis didn't run better as he is usually always fast. I'm glad to see Obikwelu lose because he talked about how he would destroy Pickering last season when they raced. He talked alot of smack from what I heard so maybe now he will have a little more respect. Too bad Pickering wasn't in the race as well.

I really am impressed with Hession. He doesn't look like your typical sprinter as he is so skinny. He reminds me of a Wariner body type in the shorter sprints. Think of all of the little Irish kids that are now going to idolize him. This is great for Ireland. Paul Hession has a descent chance to make some serious noise if he continues to get better. If Matic Osovnikar can make the World Championship 100 Meter Finals, Hession should be able to possibly acheive that as well some day. Paul Hession and Matic are built very similar.Edited by: white lightning
