We're working on bringing over the avatars and enlarging them. Also, don't add an avatar until the problem is fixed.

If anyone is still noticing glitches or other problems when posting, please note them in this thread. Thanks.

Congrats and glad to see folks trickling into the new forum, slowly but surely! This format is very similar to a couple of other forums where I lurke, so this change is very seamless for me!

With the NFL lockout apparently nearing a close, I think we'll have a lot to talk about soon, so hopefully the forum will be running on all cylinders by early August.

I was happy with the WebWiz software we had, but it couldn't continue to be used the way the new site was coded. That may be the reason there's been so many glitches transferring the old board to the new one. But V-Bulletin is also very nice and will serve our purposes well. Hopefully soon the articles will be brought over and I (we) can start adding new material to the homepage that is comment enabled, which should really help build traffic and controversy. More on that when we get there.

If anyone still can't log in, email me at mail@castefootball.us, tell me your user name and the password you want and I'll enter it. You can always change your password after you successfully log in.

Finally I am on, I think? Don had to reset my password. Funny how I missed this site more than I thought. It's great to be back, I learn from each of you. I like the new home page and graphics!

Excellent new site! Was able to log back in without a hitch. The only burning question is:

Is Rachel Maddow subscribed to the CF Boards!?

Thanks for all the positive feedback on the new board. I'm wondering though why posting has fallen so dramatically since the switchover. The number of daily posts thus far is about one-fifth what it was on the previous board.

I think there are still a pretty good number of folks that haven't logged into the new site yet, but another reason could be folks trying to get used to the new board before they post. I've been trying to do some college team previews, but the way that I'm doing them now takes a while and I haven't had as much time to post this week. I imagine some folks are on vacation too. Just a couple of possible explanations. I'm sure it will pick up as everyone gets more familiar with it, as others return to the board, and as football season gets closer!

Don, I think two reasons are people still haven't sorted out resetting the password and all, so please keep making announcements for people to email you if they haven't gotten back one. The second reason is that since it was down for a few days, it might have thrown some people out of rhythm when they were used to dropping in every day, seeing something that peeked their interest and posting. Consequently, the lack of new posts means fewer things for people to look at, and fewer responses, and on and on.

As people get back on the board, and more posts are made, it will grow back to what it once was, and with the new features and look I think it will exceed any traffic this website has seen before right about the first couple weeks of September.

I think for those of us who are back to keep posting and slogging through this period and we will build ourselves back up!

I know it's still early after the site rebuild, but the lack of posts is a little disappointing. Quite a few members haven't re-registered yet.

Post counts are down simply because change takes some getting used to. The new post section is where most CF'ers would log into previously is radically different than before. For instance, I would normally go straight to the newest posts, and specify a timeframe I wanted to look at, say since "yesterday" and all new posts since that time frame are there, making it easy to review and comment. I haven't taken the time to access the same type of feature with the new site yet, however.

I don't see that feature, FootballDad. I know there is an option to check all posts from the past 24 hours but no other time periods besides that.

I think that V-Bulletin automatically takes you to the new posts in a thread. For instance, when I clicked this thread it didn't start off with the first post but took me directly to JC's post, which is the only new post in the thread since the last time I viewed it. Or maybe it goes to the most current page in a thread, I'm not sure yet.

Great work, Don. I really like the new site...looks sharp and is fast and functional. The new search functionality is especially nice, both for full text (any word) searches on any or all threads and personally within your own profile against your previous posts. It also seems like there are more personalized settings for each user.

Also, I like how you can see all of the previous posts in a thread when you are adding your post to it. I notice that the header extends a little bit past the sub-header menu and forum. Probably just a formatting issue for them to fix. Also, I wonder if an icon can be embedded anywhere within your post. I tried to put a "thumbs up" icon after my first sentence, but it put the icon to the right of the Title: textbox.

I'll mention those glitches to the tech guy. There's still several glitches to be worked out. For now, you can drag the emoticons to where you want them on a post.

Are PMs not functioning?
I sent a message earlier today. I don't know if the recipient has checked his inbox yet, but it's not showing up in my "outbox" (now called 'sent messages').
