Juan Manuel Marquez, former champion who has fought both Pacquiao and Mayweather, made a comment in the media not too long ago where he essentially said, literally:

"Pacquiao can only win by KO so he must fight for a KO. The Vegas officials will favour Mayweather and thus, Pacquiao winning a decision is almost impossible due to the bias."

It was reported on boxingscene.com about one month ago.

That's quite startling for a pro boxer so high up in the sport to say that. It shows that even pro boxers know how the system of biased officiating works.

Marquez ' s comments confirm the presence of a "caste system" that is in place in boxing in USA.

As for the fight itself let me just say this: Pacquiao has the speed to catch Mayweather. Pacquiao is by far the fastest fighter Mayweather has fought since Judah like 10 years ago. In fact, I would say Pac is faster than Judah so maybe since forever.

Mayweather due to his defense and technical ability is the favourite. Pacquiao must attack intelligently and throw lots of punches. If there is a weakness in May's game it's two things: 1) He doesn'tthrow many punches ssometimes only 30 per round and 2) He can be bullied on the ropes.

Pacquiao should aim to throw 80 punches a round. It will be difficult for the crooked Vegas officials to rip him off if he out works May 2-to-1.

Mayweather is the favourite but with Pac ' s speed I do give him a chance at upset. Pacquiao is in the fight.

Make that only by a clean knockout. They always have a hired house referee to make sure that Mayweather's opponent can't fight him on the inside and Mayweather can run away. I always remember the way Joe Cortez went diving in whenever Hatton closed with the celebrated negro.

[h=5]Global boxing star Manny Pacquiao, in spite of the fact he isn’t a US resident or citizen, owes the IRS $18 million, and they plan to demand a lot more when Pacquiao fights in Las Vegas next month.[/h]As most people who at least casually follow boxing know, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will finally be squaring off against one another on May 2. Many sports fans wanted the fight to first take place as far back as six years ago. But hey, better late than never, I guess.
What a lot of sports fans don’t know is that Pacquiao has been engaged in his own fight against both the IRS and its Filipino counterpart, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (other countries have tax collecting monstrosities just like we do). The government in the Philippines (where Pacquiao is from) levied a tax evasion case against him and is attempting to obtain the equivalent of $75 million from the boxing champion. Meanwhile, the IRS has slapped on a federal tax lien for $18.3 million in allegedly unpaid taxes for 2006 through 2010. Pacquiao claims that a treaty between the US and the Philippines prevents his money from being taxed twice.
Doing Business in the US Will Cost You


In his last fight, Pacquiao faced Chris Algieri in Macau, China rather than in a popular US bout destination. As a result, he was able to save millions of dollars since his earnings were not subjected to the 39.5 percent US income tax rate for top tax earners. The combined tax rates of the Philippines (20 percent) and Macau (12 percent) still leave the fighter with a bigger payday for himself than the one he would have had if the fight occurred on US soil. Pacquiao’s desire to avoid taxation does cause one to wonder why he campaigned for Harry Reid in 2010. I guess everyone is a conservative when it comes to his own money.
Perhaps the man known as “Pacman†would ideally want his fight with Mayweather to occur overseas as well. But given the enormous payday for both fighters ($120–150 million for Mayweather, $80–100 million for Pacquiao), those concerns may have been overlooked. Consequently, the US government will be able to extract the full top tax-bracket amount from each fighter as a result of the fight taking place in Las Vegas.
What is Pacquiao Paying For?
Given the amount of money that the US government is about to receive from Pacquiao, it brings to mind the usual claims made on behalf of the state as to why taxes are collected. I’m sure that we are all familiar with these claims. But remember, Pacquiao is not an American citizen. His home is in the Philippines. So when assessing the government’s claimed reasons for wealth confiscation, consider the following questions while keeping in mind the amount of money Pacquiao will be giving to the US government after May 2 (to be added to the $18.3 million the IRS already claims he owes).
Will Manny Pacquiao ever receive Social Security? (I realize that he likely won’t need it since he’s a multimillionaire, but still.)
Will any of Manny Pacquiao’s five children ever go to a school receiving money from the US Department of Education?
How often does Manny Pacquiao drive on an American road?
Do Filipino citizens demand services from the US military (maybe some do). But more importantly, do Filipino citizens have any say at all over American foreign policy that affects them?
Will Manny Pacquiao or his family be able to receive Medicare or Medicaid at any point during their lives?
It isn’t difficult to see that Pacquiao’s return on investment for his American taxes is pretty horrible. He may as well have sat in a room with the IRS and said “I’ll have the biggest fight of my career here in the states and you can take 39.5 percent of my earnings while I derive virtually no benefit from the money you take from me.†Will the IRS then back off their harassment of the prize fighter as a result of this decisively one sided deal? My guess would be no.
Pacquiao will weather this storm and remain financially comfortable. But, if Pacquiao’s tax troubles haven’t caused you to feel sorry for him, consider that the IRS routinely harasses those who have far less wealth he does. And if one of the world’s highest paid athletes won’t be able to negotiate his way out of this harassment, what chance could the rest of us possibly have?

For the money that is requested from Manny's company from 2006-2010 he must have performed "in" a U.S. contract. The IRS is not attempting to excise personal tax from Manny but excise from his company for performing "in" the U.S. The financial part of this deal was likely what took so long to negotiate the fight.

This is some spot-on analysis. I also think that Pacman is running on fumes from a career standpoint. That and Gayweather is a very good defensive fighter. It's very difficult to chase him around all nite and then get through his cover to score points (not that the judges see them anyway).

Like all of us here, I would love to see Floyd get his clock cleaned, but it would be surprising. Maybe Manny isn't that far off in his praying! hwell:

I don't see what real boxing fan could ever consider FMJ the greatest even if he retires undefeated. His groupies, yes, but he can't even fight outside of his own town and never even outside of the MGM. Everything has to be in his favor or he won't agree to a fight. He retired for 2 years awhile ago rather than face certain fighters.

I agree with Arum, this fight should have been in Cowboys Stadium in front of 100,000. But FMJ would never agree to it. There are no tickets to be found a week before this fight. They never went on sale. And if fans want to attend the weigh in, they are charged.

Mayweather is about money, not doing what it takes to become the best.

I don't think HBO would want to hold it there. I just think it should have been on neutral ground somewhere. They can't call it the biggest fight ever when it's held in a small casino setting that seats under 20,000 and NO tix are available to the public one week before the fight. Cowboys Stadium has done Pacquiao fights before.

At close to a hundred a pop in North America(not including backwards Mexico), I think interns or clerks will be after streams for this. This fight is on free television in Germany, Poland, Russia etc. So while HBO or Showtime can shut down their own feeds public access feeds in these countries are out of their jurisdiction. I actually might drive an hour west of my home and watch this fight at a race track showing this for free as the worst thing that could happen for me is the two fighters are about to trade punches and the old familiar " Due to copyright infringement the live stream of this fight has been terminated by the rights holder"..:icon_mrgreen:

I will go with Manny by UD. If he out throws Mayweather by a lot to a little there's no way he won't be able to win. I don't believe Mayweather has the power to KO Manny. I know the ref will be looking to protect Mayweather, but Manny does most of his damage with the shots he throws on his way in. In all honesty I don't see much to be gained or lost in a caste perspective however this fight ends. The fact that the whole world is salivating over this fight is just further proof of how sheep like society is. The MSM can literally just say "here are your 2 best P4P guys fighting" and people believe it. I love boxing but I have little to no interest in watching fights below middleweight.

Pac is a southpaw that has fast hands,throws non stop with great combos and a variety of punches that come from angles.His style is similar to Calzaghe's and will give any opponent problems.It all depends if he can get back to his best form and if he can then he has a great shot.
