well Blount looked like a former shell of himself after Martin took the starting job. I guess he figured it was his, despite his laziness, unwilling to pass block and lack of receiving skills. He barely tried once he wasn't the featured guy. Leonard makes perfect sense to fill in Blount's role. However, what will probably happen as we have seen in the past with black players is once Blount sees a White guy taking away any playing time from him, will step his game up as much as possible, even if its just a backup, he still doesn't offer much as a 3rd down back.

In more positive news, Kevin Walter signed with Tennessee. While he probably won't start, he should carve out a role since he's an excellent blocker and a sure handed receiver for Locker. I wonder what this means for Marc Mariani?

In quarterback news, Matt Flynn is officially a Raider. This is great news as Oakland desperately needed a starter and Flynn needed to escape Pete's Pacific Northwest Plantation. This should also keep Tyrelle Prior on the bench, where he belongs.

Carson Palmer seems destined for the Cardinals and Kolb signed with Buffalo so their may not be any teams where Geno Stiff could get drafted and start right away. Jacksonville and the NY Jets remain options as they have shaky situations at QB. However, they have bigger holes at other positions. Let's hope teams stand pat on quarterbacks and Geno falls.

Another positive development IMO was Colt McCoy's trade to the 49ers. With his ability to scramble he's a good fit with what they are running there. Also, Kapernick has the build of a scarecrow and with his propensity to run is an injury waiting to happen. Maybe McCoy will get some much deserved luck this season.

Very true Freethinker. I am hoping Barkley catches some momentum in the next few weeks. He has been unfairly bashed because he looks and plays more like Tom Brady and Peyton Manning rather than Scam and Griffin.

I am trying to regain some of my cautious optimism with the draft coming up. I have been pretty pessimistic up to this point with the whole draft this year so I am trying to just maintain a realistic viewpoint.

Regardings QBs - Barkley and Nassib both have the best shot at being first round QBs. Landry Jones, Tyler Bray, Tyler Wilson and Mike Glennon are 2nd/3rd round guys and will hopefully end up in good situations.

Mid to late round QBs with a shot of making an impact are Zac Dysert, Sean Reanfree, Collin Klein (funny how the media has completely tried to erase him from memory).

Well at the moment Leonard might be a lost cause, he just needs a job at the moment, kind of how like Hester needed to take the job for the Broncos. There was talk from dwfs of using Leonard and Hester as featured backs after Hillis had his big season in 2010 but then all of the negative reports which was taking bad advice from an agent, which included missing a football game and some kids event that his agent didn't report, but the media was in cahoots with the team who didn't want him and blew up every single thing that he did, combine that with nagging hamstring injuries and he winds up as a backup when he could be starting for a majority of teams. It seemed to be a great effort to make sure his success wasn't continued. They gave Jamaal Charles the bulk of the carries which did not help them win, because lots of 1 and 2 yard carries and negative 1 and 2 yard carries with a few 40 and 50 yarders here and there to make up for his ypc. The way they used him with Thomas Jones worked much better and it could have been the same with Hillis, although Hillis still didn't look 100 percent for most of the season combined with the fact that pretty much every carry was up the gut and the guards were getting pushed back 2 to 3 yards with no room for him to run. He should have been running a variety of plays and proved that he still has plenty left in the tank with his 100 yard game late in the season when he actually got a decent amount of carries. Hillis at 70 percent is still better than Thomas Jones ever was.

Palmer was traded to AZ for next to nothing. With Flynn to Oakland, Alex Smith to KC and Kolb to Buffalo these four teams have addressed their QB questions for the next few years. I think this means that we will see Joeckel go number 1 to KC and Eric Fisher or Lane Johnson at number 7 to AZ. Buffalo could also be a wildcard and might be looking at one of these elite white OTs (Buddy Nix is a caste-whore though so I wouldn't hold my breath).

This draft is full of good white QBs that are not ready to step in day one but can be developed. These teams could be targeting guys like Bray, Jones, Wilson, Nassib and Glennon in the second round. All five of those QBs have all the talent needed to be very good QBs at the next level - given a year or two behind one of the aforementioned veteran QBs and being able to get one on one coaching with a competent staff they should all become very good QBs IMO.

The three teams with the biggest question marks at QB are Cleveland, Jacksonville and Philadelphia. I could easily see the visor wearing affirmative action black quarterback loving Chip Kelly draft either Manuel or Smith - that would screw over Foles but lets be honest - the Eagles have not had an entrenched white starting QB for a long time so this would not be a huge blow. I think Foles would be a hot commodity and be traded to a team that would develop him correctly.

In Cleveland Weeden played well as a rookie but the media and DWFs all knock his age (he is 29 and will be 30 this year but as a QB he has 7-8 productive seasons left). They have already brought in the perennially coddled Jason Campbell who seems to get a free pass every year and people seem to think he is still starting QB material even after his mediocre performance as the starter in Washington/Oakland for 5 seasons. Caste-Clown Michael Lombardi is running the show in Cleveland and it seems he wants EJ Manuel. The Browns will continue stinking if they end up getting Manuel in the first round - the DWF Dawg Pound may end up getting their precious black quarterback though.

I think Jacksonville may ultimatley be a big blow for us since Gabbert is still very young but has already been written off. The new owner and GM who I believe was with the Eagles (which should be worrisome considering the Eagles QB history) prior will want their QB and it seems like they are targeting Geno Smiff.

Nice find. Zombo is yet another in the “great three year white purge†that the Packers have undergone since winning the Superbowl in 2010. Since then, they've seen two pathetic one-and-done playoff campaigns.

Speaking of white purges...who would have thought that New England would shed Welker, Woodhead, and Edelman in a single off-season? Possibly allowing Edelman to walk (to the Giants or elsewhere) would be yet another move in the wrong direction for New England’s offense and special teams…

Julian Edelman was all but auditioning for Wes Welker‘s role with the Patriots when last season began. But, with Welker gone to the Broncos, New England doesn’t appear too eager to bring Edelman back, even with the team short on receivers. Now, Edelman, a free agent, is visiting the Giants, Field Yates of ESPN reports. Edelman has been a solid fill-in for the Patriots since being picked in the seventh round in 2009. A quarterback in college, Edelman slid into the role of slot receiver and return man rather easily, recording 69 receptions for 714 yards over four seasons in New England. He has returned a punt for a touchdown in each of the last three seasons. He has also struggled with injuries, however, and while he’s been a reliable producer when on the field, he hasn’t been on the field much. There has been little information about whether the Patriots are interested in keeping Edelman, Yates reports.

Aside from doing his very best to ruin Jeremy Shockey’s once-budding career by utterly ignoring him in the passing game, and being forced to utilize TE Jake Ballard in 2011 (due to a temporary lack of black TE’s on the roster), has Eli “Silver Spoon†Manning ever thrown to a white pass-catcher? Not that he cares, of course.

Rest assured that if Edelman is signed by the Giants, he’ll likely play behind Hakeem Nicks, Victor Cruz, Reuben Randle, and Jerrel Jernigan on the depth chart. Essentially, unless a rash of “unfortunate†injuries occur, Edelman wouldn’t play a down at WR. Even if he would somehow get into the game, Eli would promptly ignore him. Perhaps the wrinkled Caste-O-Phile, Tom Coughlin, and his Africa-First GM, Jerry Reese, want to utilize Edelman as a punt/kick returner? Julian would be smart to re-sign with New England and steer clear of this Casteon Jew York Sh-tty franchise.

The Giants had to find some help at middle linebacker. Dan Connor is not the solution - he's about as good as Chase Blackburn - but he'll provide the solid depth New York was going to lack in the wake of Blackburn's signing with Carolina. The price is more than fair, as Connor is probably worth a bit closer to a million per year.

The New Orleans Saints added another piece to attempt to beef up their defense as safety Jim Leonhard signed a one-year contract contract with the team Monday, Leonhard said via Twitter. The Saints also announced the transaction. Roman Harper still sits as the starter on the Saints roster as Leonhard will likely fit in at strong safety. Last season, Isa Abdul-Quddus was Harper's primary backup. Leonhard (5-8, 188) spent last season with Denver as mostly a backup. Leonhard was a starter the previous four seasons with the Jets and the Ravens. Leonhard, 30, spent his first three seasons in Buffalo (2005-2007).

Of course, I wish he would have instead resigned with Denver, who feature an atrocious crop of safeties. I remember a year or two ago many sites had Gideon ranked highly and a as an early round draft prospect. It was the same with Tommy Z some years ago. Then magically the white safeties draft stock plummets for some unknown reason.

The fan reaction at one of the Saints’ boards concerning the Leonard signing is mixed. Some feel he is now on the team because of new DC Rob Ryan -- Leonard having played for brother Rex in New York.

Weenieworld is none too happy that Seattle signed a White quarterback to back up Russell Wilson, one they believe doesn't have a single positive attribute to offer:

Seahawks agreed to terms with QB Brady Quinn, formerly of the Chiefs. Quinn beat out Matt Leinart, Tyler Thigpen and Seneca Wallace for the right to back up Russell Wilson, at least for now. A poor scheme fit behind read-option maven Wilson, Quinn was absolutely dreadful in 197 pass attempts for the Chiefs last season, completing just 56.9 percent of his throws. That number was accompanied by a 60.1 QB rating, 5.8 yards per attempt and 2:8 TD:INT ratio. Considering Quinn's lack of running ability and long track record of failure, Seattle probably isn't done making moves at quarterback.

I think our best bet to stopping it is going to start with Montee Kiffin. I believe this is the reason why the Cowboys let Rob Ryan go even though he did improve the defense. Kiffin was the first to stop the zone read when it came out, although what made Tebow so successful is that they could just run regular running plays and block everybody and he would still gain yards, none of the black quarterbacks can run like a halfback. Kiffin hasn't exactly figured it out yet, given that the Ducks crushed USC with it, but he didn't have the best talent to work with. I am sure that old guy is sitting watching film right now drawing things up. The Cowboys have to play the Redskins and Eagles (now with Chip Kelly) twice a year, so thats 4 games.

The original way to stop it was the scrape exchange, but watching San Fransisco, they had Bruce Miller ALSO reading defenders based on what they were doing and then deciding who to block. So not only do you need disciplined defenders, you will often have to leave your cornerbacks one on one which is what makes it easy for these black quarterbacks to complete passes given that most are below average at covering.

The easiest way would be to add more Whites on defense, right now that would mean more White dlinemen and linebackers as well as safties that can read defenses well and not get sucked up biting on the run and of course the obvious that it will only help to stop limiting the cornerback talent pool to 12 percent of the population.

but that won't happen so we will have to hope that defensive coordinators have better schemes. I wouldn't be surprised if Colin Kaepernick doesn't fall down to earth right away next year, but with RG3 hurting, although they said his recovery has been like a "super human" and Kelly likely to use Vick or some other black quarterback (none of the black quarterbacks this year are even good enough for the average dwf to get extremely excited about in terms of the ability to run the read option, and as quarterbacks in general) with Montee Kiffin I suspect those two teams to be stopped first and then other teams copying what Kiffin did as the season progresses. Wilson will probably fall back down the first though. Scam runs an offense that is a little different from what the 49ers and Redskins run, but he couldn't even take advantage of one on one matchups from day one, getting tons of yards but making tons of mistakes.

As far as Quinn, it would be nice to see him get a chance on a team that had some talent to throw to with a consistent running game (last year Charles had a lot of yards, but lots of 1 and 2 yard games that led to 3 and outs with an occasional big play to boost his ypc), but it would take an injury for that to happen, no matter how bad Wilson does next year.

Yes, Edelman has as good a chance as ever to step up and become a quality starter. Of course, his own health is usually his greatest obstacle.

In other White receiver news, Brett Swain, was signed by the Seahawks. If he makes the team, he'll probably take Charly Martin's role as token 5th string WSTD.

The Packers also signed TE Matthew Mulligan a few days ago. Probably takes Tom Crabtrees spot as the "blocking TE".

Crabtree signed with Tampa, which could turn out to be a great move by him. Dallas Clark was the main starter for the Bucs last year but he's 34 and isn't nearly what he used to be. Luke Stocker hasn't done anything yet. Crabtree is obviously (except to the media) an excellent athlete and might really break out if he gets to start this season.
