Notable Unrestricted Free Agents

Good points. IF the Broncos' OL & RBs can do their jobs, Denver should lead the league in passing. It'd be awesome seeing Manning and these 3 tear thru all the affletic defenses like a hot knife thru butter!

That's what I am hoping for. Always liked Peyton even if he was/is Brady's arch rival. And a decent actor with comedic timing!

Leon Washington signed with Pats. That's the end of Woodhead.

They might be using Washington specifically as a kick returner. He only had 27 touches on rushing and receiving last year, and he is 30 years old. I wouldn't see Washington as a threat to Woodhead's carries or Edelman in the return/receiving game. He is more adept at kick returning than punt returning with 8 touchdowns compared to 0 on punt returns. Edelman is the opposite, he has a punt return touchdown in each of the last three seasons compared to 0 KR TDs. I could see a way for them to all be Patriots, but who knows what BB is up to.

They have Vereen, Ridley, the rookie last year (Bowen or Bowden??) and now Washington. They definitely won't keep 5 running backs and usually only dress 3.

Steven Jackson signed with Atlanta, which at least makes it a little more likely that the Packers will sign Peyton Hillis. I can't see them signing him to be their main guy, but he could thrive in that offense even if he starts off as a backup. None of their current runners are very good and the free agent market is now thin, but they could draft a back.

Haven't read anything yet of a team being interested in Austin Collie, which is ridiculous but hardly unexpected.
The Green Bay running back situation looks like Cleveland in 2010. If Hillis signs there he should win the top spot if the competition is open. If they don't draft a top back I can't see anything but a competition as all of Green Bay's backs are 2nd and 3rd string quality.

Can't believe the Pats haven't resigned Woodhead. Brady will struggle next year without Welker and Woodhead. I hope Woodhead gets signed somewhere - he is one of the most underrated/underappreciated players in the league.

I found a thoroughly enjoyable article detailing the six WORST free-agent overexpeditures thus far. No surprise that the beneficiaries of this salary largesse are all black: http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2013/3/14/4097314/2013-nfl-free-agent-grades-mike-wallace-overpaid 1. Mike Wallace, 2. Dannell Ellerbe, 3. Jermon Bushrod, 4. Erik Walden, 5. Shonn Greene, 6. Jared Cook.
Surprise Surprise! The top 2 signings were made by none other than good 'ol caste whore himself, Jeff Ireland. I seriously hope the Dolphins crash and burn this season. Its the last year of his contract and if the team sucks, which I think it will, then he will be roto-rootered on out of here. Hopefully we'll get a less caste-ian GM the next go-around.

One of the signings that I'm most disappointed with is the Eagles signing Connor Barwin. First, it takes away one of the better players from what was the whitest defense in the league in Houston. Second, the Broncos had him on their "to-do" list. He was targeted as a replacement for Elvis "Smurf" Dumerville, since contract talks there were going nowhere, and Denver was considering cutting him and his salary loose. Now they will probably do a restructure and keep him around.

The free agency transactions in New England grow darker by the hour, as the Patriots not only signed RB Leon Washington, but have officially signed former Bills WR, Donald Jones, and are supposedly interested in former Steelers WR, Emmanual Saunders…

From MusketFire.com…

According to Adam Schefter, the New England Patriots have signed Donald Jones to a three-year deal, and the 25-year-old Youngstown State product will stay around in the AFC East after being snapped up by Bill Belichick. As we saw with Welker, Belichick has a knack for turning other AFC East wideouts into something more.

The Patriot Brass continues to sully the NFL’s best offense, seemingly purging Welker, Edelman, and Woodhead all in a single off-season. Another white starter that might not be re-signed is RT, Sebastian Vollmer. Talented reserve DE, Trevor Scott, seems to have been shown the door as well.

Perhaps all of these “new black toys” (likely coveted by Little Joshy-Wigger) will work out the way that Fred Taylor, Joey Galloway, Reche Caldwell, Chad Ochocinco, Kelly Washington, Alge Crumpler, Torry Holt, Jabar Gaffney, Daniel Fells, Greg Lewis, and so many other free agent “skill” players that have been utter busts once signing with New England...

CAPTION: NE's Dazzling History of Free Agent "Skill Players"

I could rattle off the myraid of defensive free agent busts they've signed, also, but I might develop arthritis.

The Chargers signed Danny Woodhead to a 2 year contract. There is a new head coach and GM there so we don't know how they'll treat players like Danny. Ryan Matthews has been an injury prone bust to this point, so maybe there will be a significant role for Woodhead. He should easily surpass cement-footed Jackie Battle and washed up Ronnie Brown to be the third down back.

Beat me to it, Don.

I don't know how I feel about Woodhead to the Chargers. I was hoping he would go to the Texans, but perhaps that would be worse b/c there would be few carries to go around behind Foster and Tate.

If Woodhead can split carries in San Diego and become a 1,000 yard rusher this move is awesome, despite the fact that the team is not white-friendly and is not a contender.

BTW, San Diego had a white back in the 70's who was very much like Woodhead, Dickie Post.

Looks like the Patriots are no longer the team to root for...Broncos are looking to be my number 1 team now.

As far as the Patriots, its looking like two tight end sets and heavy running attack like before Brady became a star at qb and was more of a game manager, perhaps Bill doesn't think he can do it anymore.

I am kind of nervous about the Woodhead situation. I know its a new group of guys but take a guy like Darren Sproles who was on that team and he wasn't utilized to his fullest potential, now look at him on the Saints, hopefully the Chargers will take note of that and use Woodhead at least in a similar way.

My hope is that Welker will get his Superbowl ring and Bellicheck doesn't even make the playoffs after getting so much darker. They were consistently contenders for winning it all and came up short, most teams would die for getting that close every single year. Now he things he can win it all by getting rid of his best play maker in Welker? What if Gronk goes down? thats it, Hernandez can't carry the load. Hopefully we will see what Amendola can do but reports are saying that the Patriots are interested in Tavon Austin which would probably lessen Amendola's role in the offense. Regardless it shows that they aren't confident in him.

I'm not ready to get down on the Patriots yet. Welker was replaced by Amendola. Woodhead is an obvious loss, but that's the only one to this point. We're still almost half a year away from seeing what their starting lineup and roster looks like, same with every other team right now.

Woodhead could have his best season, given how injury prone Matthews is.

As long as the new coaching staff can stifle the anti-White Randy Muellar from the front office, this scenario might play out well for Danny. As far as I know, Muellar is still with the Chargers. So just beware; I think Muellar gets his kicks undermining players like Danny, a la Jacob Hester.

The adolescent anti-White trolls at Weenieworld have nothing but bad things to say about virtually all White players except for superstars. This one below is typical. It's hard to understand why the Rams would have even used such a pathetic specimen on special teams much less as an on and off starter. When I watched the Rams, Dahl was always around the ball and was pretty much a reliable tackling machine for a safety:

Free agent S Craig Dahl will visit the 49ers. Dahl was routinely burned in coverage with the Rams, and was caught numerous times tackling the air around him. He started all 16 games last season, but he will never be viewed as a starter at any point over the rest of his career. Dahl isn't a capable replacement for Dashon Goldson.

I look forward to the reports in a few months of NE's new affletic players not being able to learn the Patriots playbook. I think the only black receiver on the Patriots who actually knew the playbook is Deion Branch.

Terrible news about Woodhead for Pats fans. However if he gets the reps he deserves with the Chargers I am happy about it. He's definitely made a ton of fans in NE that will follow him.

I hold out some hope that Woodhead's role could expand in Welker's absence.

Well that's no longer a possibility, unfortunately. To your larger point, maybe Edelman's role could expand in Welker's absence but it looks like he might be on the bubble as well. It feels like BB might be delegating more on Offense with McDaniels back in the mix. But I am with Don, I am waiting to see where all the chips land.

I've been spoiled being able to root for my home team, first and foremost, for the last few years. Hopefully that doesn't change this year.

Danny Woodhead revives Philip Rivers

Do you remember when Philip Rivers was a #1 fantasy QB? He had a player named Darren Sproles. When Rivers lost Sproles, he and the Chargers suffered. I am glad to say, the new Darren Sproles is a Charger now, and his name is Danny Woodhead. Philip Rivers couldn't be happier. Fantasy wise, Rivers has been ailing, Woodhead is the perfect drug.

I remember many times when Woody would get reps he would break off long runs some of the time. I remember many times he would get caught at the exact moment he could break a big one. Then realized that he was not getting the reps most affetets get in breaking those break long runs/plays. Subsequently the odds were against him for the most part. I sure hope he gets those deserved reps out here in Southern Ca. As Don stated, their featured back gets hurt avoiding a feather. So, it looks promising for Woodhead. Never forget how he carried NE in the first half of SB 2012. God speed Danny!!!

I think this will be the looked at as when the Patriots jumped the shark espcially if Amendola continues to have injury problems. When their offense struggled they leaned on Woodhead to save them. Brady hasn't been as sharp recently and looks slower footed than ever. I think he may retire after this season especially if things don't go well. Rivers is still hungry and has a lot of football left - it might work out well for Woodhead.

Giants sign Dan Conner. Either he or Mark Herzlich will start at mlb.

They are interested in signing Karlos Dansby, who would be the starter if that happens. Knowing the Giants, they seem to be allergic to White defensive players except to play part-time team mascot type roles.
