Look at this piece of thrash FOX Sports article I found on FOX Sports http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/8976648/Discussing-the-ba rriers-faced-by-black-coaches

He goes on to explain that an Athletic Director needs to break away from the image of white coaches, like Bear Bryant, and Pete Carrol. Tell me then, why can't a school break away from almost all black recievers, cornerbacks and tailbacks, linbeacker D-Line, and Safties then? Oh wait, whites must not have the "athletic ability" to play these positions.

But we "need" more College Football black coaches according to this moron.

This guy (Michael Rosenberg) seems to be a castehole from some of his articles I have read.

I have a feeling this stuff about more black coaches at FBS level won't stop until white coaches make up about 60 of the possible 119 jobs.

Actually, I'd lower that number down to about 5.

Yeah, the media won't be happy until black coaches outnumber white coaches 114 to 5.

Yet when 54% of college football is minorities, people seem to have no problem with it. Anyway, if college football gets a "Rooney Rule," I will barf.

Not to cast dispersions on the Pittsburgh Steelers' reputation, but the Rooneys were typical altruistic fuddieduddies. I remember reading about how saintly Art Rooney was, how he was so "for the people", how he kept his family in the armpit of Pittsburgh while they made their millions. Understanding that it was heir apparent Dan who masterminded the Rule nonsense, should it be any surprise it would be a Rooney?

I remember back around 1980 or so I was reading an article in Sports Illustrated about how blacks "only" made up about 35-40% of the overall NFL roster. Never did I see an article that decried the lack of white representation in the NBA. All of these sportswriters, then and now, have been cheerleaders for the black players. Nowadays, as the money flows and the black multi-millionaries can't seem to run their lives properly (Vick, Burress, Jones), they're scrutinized but when it's the poor black coach who can't seem to get a break or that cat who's playing a generally White position (center, quarterback, punter, kicker), clear the decks! And the public buys into it every time.

SI was misleading people even back then. I don't think anyone will argue that the NFL was less than half black in 1982. I think the 35-40% number was passed in the mid-70s.

If black people wanted black coaches to be a success , then why didn't many top black players go to ND when TY was there. His las 2 recruiting classes were terrible by ND standards. Weis is getting top 10 classes the last 3 years. If I am not mistaken Reggie Bush was thinking about going to ND, but chose USC. I guess he doesn't care about black coaches succeeding. He had a 3.8 gpa according to rivals, so he could have gotten in ND. It wouldn't have been like the black players were sacrificing by going to a small school to help a black coach.

Black Head Coaches have wrecked many once proud programs-John Blake at Oklahoma from 1996-1998 was 12-22 the worst stretch in school history, Denny Green at Northwestern was 10-45 and 16-18 at Stanford, Bob Simmons 1995-2000 at Oklahoma State was 30-38. Tyrone Willingham was 76-88-1 at Stanford ,Notre Dame and Washington ( in fact this year the Huskies didn't win a single game).
If a college should hire a black coach and he fouls up the program, what can you do?? FIRE THE BUM!!!

Don't forget about Ron Prince after Bill Snyder retired from K-State, if I recall, Snyder retired in 03 or 04, and Prince drove that program into the ground the last few seasons.

Yeah, great point Jack. Prince was 16-18 at KSU. At least the folks in Manhattan were smart enough to bring back the man their football stadium is named after.

Willingham was able to jump from job to job, because he was able to peak out the year he jumped ship. Except this year. That's why the talking heads are even conceding that he may have to go to a D1 doormat to get a head coaching job. Or maybe go to the Ivy League.

The reason why Gill is being considered for a major D1 job is because he is black and one of the few black head coaches that is not blowing up his program. Also he turned around maybe the worst D1 program into a middling power that has a chance to win the MAC.

An ounce of "validity" for the cultural marxist's window dressing.

I've been telling people this for years. Even friends of mine who were racist had bought into the "well they're always given the worst jobs," belief. Oklahoma and Notre Dame are two of the most storied programs in all of sports and OSU can compete. Don't forget UCLA. If I were a an AD I would analyze Turner Gill closely because he could be a great head coach, but every single black head coach has been average or bad, even when given good opportunities.
